I updated the software on my iphone 4. In the final stages, it asked me if I wanted to merge my contacts to ICloud? I said yes and it finished the sync. Now I have no contacts on my phone. Where did they go? I am lost without my contacts?

Cannot update personal info (contacts, calendar, reminders) without being forced toive up all my private data to Apple via the iCloud. This really ***** and I'm sure probably illegal somewhere. Sometimes feel like just trashing my iphone and getting an Android. I am not the only one with this issue. Apple refuse to help saying I have to give up all private information to them by putting it on their servers (iCloud).

For various reasons I want to have 2 additional gmail accounts so I played around, created them in gmail, I'll call them gmail2 and 3. Cause I wasn't sure what I was doing I ended up with contact lists for each with slightly different info and they all got merged into my contact list on my Droid.So the net is I have a person with 2 addressess, another with 3 birthdays (all the same day, but merged from the 3 accounts. would like my Droid to only sync contacts with gmail1, but the contact list already contains the extra data. Is there a way to eliminate that extra data? I removed the contacts from gmail1 and 3 and synced them to the Droid, but all their stuff still exists in my Droid contact list.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll my merged contacts end up using the Twitter handle, which in most case, isn't the person's name. There doesn't seem to be any way to override this other than unlink the Twitter account, then I end up with duplicate contacts. I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find it in search. Is there any way to override this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo when I click my contacts icon on the iphone a bunch of my contacts are missing. If I use the search function, the page to the left of the home screen, i can find contacts I've added and ones I'm looking for, but they dont show up under contacts. There're obviously on the phone somewhere, but I dont know where. O and if I add a contact via the contact icon, push the little green plus sign, and add it manually it will show up under the contacts, but if i try and save something from resent calls or maps and say add to contacts, new contact, it doesn't show up. Also if I add a contact to outlook and sink, it wont show up either. Thanks and hopefully this is pretty clear.

I know all these emails because in the past i had sycronized hotmail contacts with iphone contacts but i deleted all of them because they were too many..So i dont have the email contacts anymore in my contacts app but i see all of them at the receiver menu..

This is random as I just started to encounter this problem.
At first when I would add a new contact it would save to my contacts list & being that I have my google account connected it would save it there as well.
I downloaded the update for iOS 5.1 for my iPhone 4 from itunes. Download was complete and I clicked on iphone under devices. 'Downloads' where the update was complete disappeared. What to do now?? Where it has gone? My iPhone is still in same condition i.e. with old version.

I purchased a new iPhone 3GS and started using it. I set up iCloud backup, and chose to save all my contacts etc to iCloud.The device was defective, so I had to exchange it. When setting up the new device, it doesn't seem to see the backup I made. It makes me setup a new device. After I setup the new device when I go to iCloud settings, I can see the backup I made earlier, but there is no way to restore it. What should I do? There is no apple store in my country.When I erase the phone and try to set it up it doesn't "see" the backup, and makes me setup a new phone.After setting up the phone it can see the backup (In iCloud settings I can see it), but there is no restore option.When I log into [URL], I can see all the contacts, so it has indeed been backed up. If I create a new contact on my iphone and I am not connected to either wi-fi or the network, the new contact doesn't appear on the icloud sync, even after I then am near a wi-fi connection. (I tend to keep my network connectivity off because I have a very small data plan)
I have tried a manual backup from the iphone at the time I do get to my wi-fi. That still doesn't recognize the new contacts.
If I then edit the contact, maybe change one letter or number, it is then synced up.
PS: The phone contacts says 380 contacts. Sorry I can't capture that screen to upload it here.

My icloud contacts started to get duplicate by itself, but the duplication of contacts were not seen on the icloud website as well as on my laptop. The main problem started when I deleted the duplicate contacts from my iphone icloud contacts list, contacts which I deleted were also deleted from my laptop & icloud website. Now I cannot see the deleted contacts on my iphone, laptop & icloud website. Is there any way I can restore the deleted contacts from my icloud backup & also would like to know why this problem started all of a sudden.

I reset my iPhone 4s. I had backed it up to the computer, a Mac Book Pro. iCloud back up was on on the phone. Only a few of my phone contacts saved to the cloud. I didn't realize this until after the phone was reset. Apple said that they probably didn't all save because there wasn't enough icloud space. The genius bar has tried to help and tech support has also. No luck. One apple genius bar person said that they were gmail contacts and get them from gmail. I I can't find anything but my email addresses on my gmail account.
