May 5, 2012I continue to get an error message without a specific error code when trying to sync and update my iPhone 4S (5.1) to iTunes (10.6.1). This started after an Apple Techincian had me restore the iPhone because I was having WiFi issues, which continued even after the fact. This is a replacement iPhone 4S. My original 4S had battery issues and had to be replaced. Unbeknownst to me, Apple replaces with refurbished iPhones, a practice I do not agree with. I experienced the WiFi dropping from the get-go with the replacement/refurbished iPhone 4S, but hung in there hoping it was just a fluke. It appears this iPhone 4S will need to be replaced.
Back to the issue at hand. I have removed all backups from iTunes. Of course now I have no backups stored on iTunes or iCloud.I have run Disk Utilities to repair permissions. I have reset the iPhone. I tried to restore it, but it will not restore since it cannot backup current data. I have made sure all OS software is updated. I have made sure permissions are unlocked in Backup folder on my HD.

Jun 16, 2012I recently updated my iPhone 4 to 5.1.1 and updated my iTunes to 10.6.3. Today I tried syncing my iPhone and after letting iTunes create a backup, it showed me this dialog: "iTunes cannot backup iPhone [name] because an error occurred." There was no error code included. I tried everything, I deleted my backups (i backed them up first (backupception lol)), I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I rebooted my PC and iPhone.

Jul 7, 2010I've got a 16GB 3GS running iOS 4.0 and all of a sudden today the phone refuses to back up. iTunes is giving me the error "iTunes cannot back up the iphone because an error occurred."
It continues to sync after that and move apps and music around, but it won't back up. I tried again after that and it wouldn't sync calendars, contacts, notes, etc. Whats going on here?By the way this is on a Macbook with the newest updates for Snow Leapord and iTunes.

Apr 7, 2012I have Windows 7 installed and have seriously tried everything to fix this, deleting old back ups, cheacking my firewall, unintalling and reinstalling itunes, deleting pictures that may be corrupt. I just plugged my phone into a USB connected to my sisters MacBook and it backed up perfectly! Is this something wrong with my computer?

May 3, 2012I am not able to sync my iPhone 3GS on iTunes. I keep getting an error "backup cannot be saved on this computer". I have tried to sync my phone to both my old desktop and my brand new laptop running the lastest version of iTunes but I keep geeting the same error. I have also tried deleteing the old backup file from the backup folder I'm trying to backup my old 3GS because my friend game me a new 3GS in perfect condition and I would like to transerfer everything over to it so I can start using it. My contacts, text messages, and photos are the most important things I want to transfer to the new phone. This shouldnt be hard to do but I get the error everytime I try to sync my current phone.

Jun 16, 2010I did a normal backup and just before it finished, a message came up saying the DM could not backup one Theme. I clicked OK and then it comes up with another message and it says Backup completed ... click OK .So is it just one theme that's odd and not being backed up? (which I don't mind) With (hopefully) the rest of my stuff backed up as usual.

After completing restoring, follow the steps to set up the phone and stuck at activation screen. Apr 13, 2012after dropping my Iphone 4 on the floor it can't connect to my PC, the error i am getting in Itunes is "Itunes was not able to establish connection to this iphone, caused by unknown error 0xE8000001". Itunes suggest to go into an applestore and get it solved but since third party has replaced the screen will apple not touch it....I have tred to uninstall itunes after closing down a few apple files via "task manager" and hard restored the Iphone but the phone will not acctivate, only get to the screen saying "connect to itunes". when i plug in a fully functional USB cable in a fully functional USB plug in my PC (windows 7, 64bit) does the phone connect and disconnect with the PC a few times, sometimes it keep on connecting/disconnecting but when the phone able to establish connection do i get a box saying "error 0xE8000001" and when clicking on the phone can i see its charging the battery but no possibilities to make a firmware restore or anything els. (have only the option to "eject" the iphone). is it possible to go one more step back than "hard restore" so the phone need to reinstall all hardware ect ect?

Jul 3, 2010While we were on vacation my brother in law upgraded to an iPhone 4 and I bought his old 3G and jailbroke it using Spirit. I also unlocked it to use on TMobile. Now that I'm home, I wanted to sync it or back it up so that I wouldn't lose apps and such. I don't have any music or videos on it but would like to do that eventually also.
1. I tried to sync some TV shows and it said that this iPhone was associated with another iTunes library so the sync would erase what was on the phone and replace it with what's on my Mac. My question here is, does it just erase things like videos and music, or will it also torch my apps and erase the jailbreak?
2. I notice when you right click the iPhone icon in the left side pane in iTunes there's a "Back up" option. Does that backup all of my apps to iTunes without erasing data on the phone or messing up the jailbreak?

May 15, 2012when reformating or migrating to a new computer i know you can copy the itunes backup from the mobilesync directory and basically continue using itunes on the new computer without having to erase and sync the iphone again. However is this method the same for migrating from a pc to a mac or vice versa? Are the backup directories similar just as the itunes library directories are similar?

I wanted to find a way to import my text messages onto my computer that doesn't involve having to actually unlock and use my phone.
I read somewhere that itunes backs it up, but where/how do I find that? And if itunes doesnt work, is there a program I could download and not pay for? OR do the programs you buy actually work?

Dec 1, 2014Before I activated my new iphone 6+ today ... I backed up my old iphone 4 into my computer through itunes.Â
After activation I went into itunes to restore today's backup into the new phone and the backup from today vanished.Â
Part of the problem may be that when I plugged in the new phone itunes asked me to update their software in my computer.Â

Jun 26, 2014I seem to have lost my data in iphone 5s. It is asking to either setup as a new phone or restore from itunes backup. The last back i did was today afternoon when everything was intact. But once the iphone was connected to itunes, it automatically started backing up the device with no data (as it was wiped out), now when I attempt to restore from itunes backup all it does is restore from the latest backup.This afternoon's successful backup does not seem to get listed in the list of backups. The reason for doing backup is to restore when in need.

2) If I ever want to update to a newer apple firmware down the road, I can't believe you have to restore the whole phone to do this! Then you lose all your jailbroken content! Isn't there a way to back up the jailbroken stuff? Its super easy to jailbreak it, you would think you could uninstall the jailbreak just as quick, but I guess that isn't the case.
