As we all know the mute switch only mutes SOME things (great design Apple ). What is the best way to actually force it to shut-up no matter what? Do I have to turn it off?
I just bought my iPhone 4S, it is fresh out of the box but my ring/silence switch will not silence the phone. I still hear the ring tones and the text tones when I flip it either way. Is my phone broken already?
I test all sounds in my iphone 4s and they are ok. Its working. So why when somenone calls me or send email or messages THe alert sounds dont work, dont ring?
I am trying to silence two of the three email accounts I have linked to my phone and can't seem to find a way. I can silence all or none? I would be shocked if there was no solution to this problem?
I want to silence all alerts (texts, emails, etc) except for phone calls and the alarm like I could with my blackberry. My new iPhone 5c is a huge upgrade from the BB other than the lack of Sound Profiles.Â
I've read a post about plugging the headphones in so that the other alerts play through them, but the phone and alarm still sound out, but this does not appeal to me as I don't typically use earbuds. Matter of fact, the ones that came with the phone are still in the box.Â
I don't want to turn off notifications for new emails (I use the stock app), just the audible tone...it it possible to silence the tone but still get the notification on top of the screen icon?
Since my first post seemed to disappear, I am posting this a second time.
I can silence my phone, turn the volume down, and select vibrate. I still get voice announcements loud and clear. How do I turn it off? Sometimes it is not desirable to hear "ONE NEW EMAIL" in church or at the office. No matter what preference I select to silence the phone, these voice alerts come through.
I've just got a new S6 and I cannot work out how to turn off the alert sounds when a new app asks if I want to install it. I've got the sound muted on the phone, but I still get the alerts sound every time an app is coming up.
Please test ICS ray: Press and hold the ON / OFF Select menu: Mute or Vibration Call from another phone - missed call What remain profile? Normal / Silent / Vibrate?

we're gettting flip to silence in a future update. While I think it is a nice feature to have, I do hope we'll also get an actual Silent mode that doesn't require visiting Settings. I want to see when I'm getting a call or text, even when my phone is on silent. Keeping my phone upside down on the table to silence it is like leaving it at home to silence it.
I've figured out how to quickly change from a ring tone to vibrate by holding the # key, however I still get ring tones when I get a facebook message. I can't have my phone go off all day at work so how do I put FB messages on vibrate as well?
This may be the same question, but is there one quick fix to silence absolutely everything (ring, text message, FB messages)?
How do I silence the camera 'click' sound? There's nothing listed under any of the options/setup screens that I've been able to find so far. I have a Bold, the model before the touch-screen.
How can I silence an incoming call? RIght now all I can do is slide the red phone icon to the left and it goes into vmail. Is there are way to just silence the call on the touch screen without answering?
I'm trying to silence just the ringtone but when ever I do that on the sound menu it silences all other noises such as notifications and system sounds. Is there any way I can just make it to silence the ringtone but leave all the other sounds? Besides just using a silent ringtone?
