IPhone 3GS :: Why Are Some Owners Eligible For Upgrade Pricing And Others Not?
Jun 10, 2010
Excuse me for asking this question that may have been answered in another thread.I run a website of my own with a lot of Mac owners. We talk about iPhones as all of you do here. We are just much, much smaller.
It seems that many people who bought the 3GS when it went on sale in June of last year are eligible for the discount upgrade. Then there are others, like myself, who are not. I am eligible in February 2011. Has anyone figured out why that is? Now, mind you, I am certain of the fact that quite a few of our forum members bought a 3GS last June and entered a 2-year contract. We are assuming perhaps it has something to do with how much money you spend each month with AT&T. It is being suggested that if you have a lot of service with AT&T and pay a hefty bill each month they will automatically grant you the upgrade pricing.
I need help, I talk to an AT&T store rep and they were useless. I also plan on upgrading tomorrow, but if I can't upgrade then gonna have to find an extra 200$.
I preorderd through AT&T Premier on the 15th, and everything seems fine with my order. It's showing up on all sites, money was authorized, got confirmation emails, so I'm assuming all is good. The only weird thing is when I check my upgrade options, it still says I'm eligible to buy the iPhone for the $199/$299 price, which is awesome, I guess! I looked it up on the apple website, and used *639#. Will my new contract start when I activate the phone, or will I be able to possibly buy a second one and sell it for a nice profit? Anyone else have this happen?
When the iPhone 4 was released I had 2 of my 3 lines eligible for full or partial upgrades. One a full subsidy, the other a half subsidy and the other nothing. Both upgrades were used on the 4's release but as of yesterday I noticed my line that wasn't eligible till February of 2011 now has a full upgrade. This would have been helpful 2 weeks ago because I wouldn't have used the early upgrade and paid more.Anyone else have their upgrade date move that didn't fall within 2010 grace period set by AT&T?
Can anyone provide me with a link to At&t's family plan pricing for the IPhone now that they have the new data plans? I'm trying to figure out whether it will be cheaper for me to get my wife an IPhone or let her keep her crappy phone on another carrier. I can't seem to find it anywhere on At&t's site.
I know that purchasing an iPhone at the subsidized prices will result in the extension of one's contract but how exactly would they see to it that this is done w/o forcing you to activate in-store?I ask because I'm leaving for Argentina soon and want to get the iPhone 4 at the $200 price point before I leave (phones in Argentina cost millions of dollars ). I plan on jailbreaking and unlocking it whenever the relevant software comes out (along with doing the whole cutting the SIM thing) but in the meanwhile, would I be able to continue using my current iPhone (first gen) on the line that I am upgrading? To lay it out, there are two lines on the account. Both due for an upgrade. Mom will upgrade her line to new iPhone and will activate and use as normal. I upgrade my line to new iPhone but don't activate and instead use current iPhone on that line until I leave and then give it to a sibling to take over the number (I don't think I have a choice but to give up my number). 1st gen phone doesn't have 3g so I have $20 unlimited plan. Agent already told me that an upgrade to the new iPhone will cause me to move over to one of the new data plans but I'm still unclear as to when I would have to choose the plan. At home via iTunes or what? Do they end up charging you the full amount of the phone if they find that you haven't upgraded your plan to one of the new ones (and indication that you aren't using the new iPhone yet)?I was already told that in the event that I lose my iPhone 4 or it gets broken, or whatever, I can simply use another phone with an ATT SIM (or swap the micro-SIM and use an adapter), give the IMEI number and they'll register the phone and change the plan accordingly.
Could i continue to use the old iPhone w/ that line? I'm assuming that I could while waiting for the phone to arrive so why not after it gets here? I basically don't plan on touching the new iPhone until I get to Argentina but will still obviously be fine with extending the contract for another 2 years (is that all they care about?) since the number will be used by someone.
Credit goes to autoexecbat for this. Currently, if you go to Tmobile's Vibrant page you'll see this:Apparently though, they had the price up earlier: If legit, that seems like an amazing price for the phone.
I have the impression that perhaps everyone has their very own, personal iPhone. But in our case, my wife and I share one (so far) that we just received. Reading up on Siri, I gather I (John) am suppose to introduce myself to Siri, tell Siri my wife's name, and get Siri to recognize my voice. But can my wife tell this same Siri who her husband is? Will Siri learn to recognize her voice? Or will all this overwhelm Siri?
Sorry if this has already been addressed, but will AT&T soon allow those who bought a 3GS in Jan./Feb. to upgrade for $199? OR will I have to wait until the date it says (2/14/11)? Any way of finding out?I'm on a family plan for 2. Bill is around $160 each month.
I have a water-damaged iPhone 3G S and since Apple switched their policy for liquid-damaged iPhone's, it says I can replace my iPhone for the Out-Of-Warranty price for $199. I did not purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan and was wondering if I am eligible for the Out-Of-Warranty price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The site went down on attt and I got a message: You can take advantage of our no-commitment pricing option, with the exception of iPhone which requires a 2-year commitment. Additional discounts may be available on 03/19/2011. This is bull crap! Check your upgrade options. I was eligible now and now i am not.
I was able pre order the 32gb black via the apple store for $299. They asked for my cell number as well as the last four of my ss. I received a email confermation that it has been reserved this am. However when i checked my account on ATT i noticed im not eligible for a upgrade until 4/11. What price will i be charged when i go pick up the phone 6/24?
iTunes keeps saying iPhone not eligible for the requested build after downloading the update directly through itunes with the lateset version of itunes.
at&t don't want unlock my iphone 4 off contract because says that at&t non-custmers are not eligible to receive the unlock.Logic, if I request the unlock is because i want use my device with other company: I'm from Italy. My iphone is off contract, I bought it in United States, how can I do for unlock it?
I'm eligible for the $299 price on the iPhone 4 32GB but when I reserved my phone at the Apple store, it shows the reservation for $699. Anyone else have the same issue and when I go to pick it up how much are they going to want to charge me?
I keep getting error stating device isn't eligible for the requested build. I have completed all troubleshooting I could find. Went through host files, have no 3rd party security software, restarted, software, ios and itunes are all up to date.
I bought second hand IPhone 4 ..when I want to make new account on ICloud it say (this device is no longer eligible for creating a free iCloud account... in addition I have no contact with seller..what should I do to get iCloud account.
should E75 owners just give up and move on? An official statement from Nokia would be very appreciated. It can't (afaik) be a technical reason, as it is available for the E71 (older, similar HW).
Im sure your loving your Nexus One as much as me but there is one thing missing from this AMAZING phone... Turn by Turn Navigation. One reason why I was so excited about this phone was the Turn By Turn Navigation feature. No where does google say that the turn by turn feature is restricted to America.Lets shine some light and get this fixed. They now ship the phone to Canada and this feature should be available in Canada too.
I bought a SE Xperia X8 last year, as my first touch phone, (and the only one from Sony Ericsson). However, after "updating" to the old Android version of the firmware to 2.1-update1, I heard that Sony Ericsson wouldn't give out anymore updates for the phone, mainly because it is considered an outdated phone (which it is, because of the old firmware. (The hardware supports kernels and firmware up to the latest Android 4.0 without any problems if you are a developer!) And this was a phone that I bought NEW in the stores December last year! Incredible, to say the least.Shouldn't the warranty go both ways? So that the customers are ensured updates to a "relevant" version of the firmware, so that we can use the latest software that's released? Have SE missed this?
I will never again buy a Sony Ericsson phone again, the pro models were left to Samsung's department, and I really love the Galaxy phones! And I have owned only Sony phones since I switched from Nokia 3230 in the 1990's! (All the T28,K310,K610,K810i,W595,W995 and the whole range.)So basically, my question is. Why can Sony Ericsson leave tens of thousands of X8/X10 owners "in the dust/to die" within a single year after I've purchased the X8? Ok, it's an entry-level phone, but it, and the customers DESERVE to get support for it for AT LEAST a few years after purchase. The customers have a one to 5 year warranty, depending on the laws in the individual countries, here in No(r)way, the warranty is 5 years on electronic products that "are supposed to last", like TV¨'s, phones, computer equipment etc.I don't understand how Sony Ericsson isn't able to see the value the entry level customer have, I mean; these are the people that will buy the "Pro" models if they are satisfied with the entry level phones. I am sure SE have lost HUGE amounts of money and sales because of this! Could anyone from Sony Ericsson please tell me why the Xperias were abandoned? And does any other customers feel "let down" by the service these phones have gotten?
I'm from Australia and I'm trying to sign up to the BlackBerry Owners Lounge. I got my first BlackBerry 9700 on the weekend. When I complete the form and press "Next" it just reloads the registration form with all my information I've entered gone and with no sign of me making any errors. I've also checked my mailbox and have not received any confirmation or notification emails. So how can I properly sign up to the Owners Lounge being the new BlackBerry user that I am.
what is meant and process is by exchanging our phones for technical support entails. I wouldn't mind at all to help out, just need to know the procedures, cost if any, location, etc.
I bought my friends CS from her and we are not able to delete her email account. We have tried selecting delete, it responds but doesn't finish, it keeps saying 'Deleting account' how to delete her account?
