Just bought a 3GS and very pleased with it but is there no way to get it to announce the caller id?I'd imagine this is a commonly requested function but when i've got my phones in, i like the fact that it mutes my music and allows me to engage the call but there's no way of knowing who's calling without assigning custom ringtones.. I'd really like it to announce the caller id, is there not an app for this? i'm aware of the garageband trick but i'd rather this only work when the headphones are connected.
I had the tour first and since upgrading to .732 since the BOLD has the same software and i now have the bold 9650-verizon. When my phone rings the last callers name will come up first then automatically change to current caller.Has this been happening to anyone?
I tried the Sanity donate app and it did not accomplish what I want. About 1.5 ago I have a Pantech Duo running Windows Mobile 6 I think. Anyways it was able to announce the callers name and read my text to me aloud through the headset, not through the speakerphone. Is this even possible to do with android? This is part of the reason I dont hardly use my Moto Headset any more. Yes I could be hands free while driving but I usually have one hand on the wheel and one on my gear shifter(its an automatic with a console mounted shifter- 2003 Trailblazer to be exact) so whats the point really unless its a long covo which is unusual for me. Is this only possible with say a headset that supports A2DP? Its an H680 headset(not the frost version)
Since Nokia maps became free to use for driving with spoken directions, I've decided to use it again on my 5800 rather than another piece of Nav software that I had. Whilst it seems to work great, my only problem seems to be that it announces the directions over Bluetooth. As my phone is connected to my car via a built in Bluetooth kit (parrot), whenever I activate routing with spoken directions, the phone takes over the audio and mutes the stereo (with "PHONE" displayed on my factory head unit). The stereo is then muted for the whole journey or until I exit from Nokia maps. So it seems my only options are driving without music, or mute the 5800 and route without spoken directions ?
This is my first bb and I love it to bits...I have noticed that today whenever i receive a call I have the same caller id showing as the first person that rang me after I switched my phone on this morning...and that was my wife...so I have been answering "hi gorgeous" to everyone all day!
My iPhone 4 which is appx 4 years old with latest iOS has developed this problem last week. After a hello on connecting a call with anyone, it just goes blank. Neither am I able to hear any voice from the other side nor the person on the other side is able to hear me. I hVe to disconnect the call and use SMS or whatsapp. Is there anything I can do to correct it?
I updated iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 and since could not hear caller unless i used the ext speaker. Apple Store at Southland said to update to 5.1 and it should fix.....It didn't?
I just replaced the LCD and the screen on my iphone 3G. It's all back together and working great - except there is no sound from the phone speaker. I can hear it ring and I can listen to messages. And the caller can hear me. But I can't hear the caller. My guess is this has to do with connection no. 3 because I had some trouble getting that one back in and may have damaged it. I've taken it apart and re-tried several times. When I flip the clamp the male end is secured. But it has never felt to me like I got the male end all the way seated back in the female end.
I just bought a 4S for my wife and when she sends me a text in iMessage it comes up with her email in the caller id. On my iPhone 4 I can go to settings/messages/receive at/caller id and select number or email. On the 4S under settings/messages there is no 'receive at' option. Any other places to go and make the change?
I used to be able to set my caller ID as hidden for making calls but now it appears that I have lost that feature. The respective menu is showing as ON (settings, phone, show my caller ID - ON) and greyed out, so I can't disable it. How can cancel it and have my caller ID back to hidden?
Is there anyway that we can block our phone number from displaying to customers using facetime? We've tried using *67 but that completely blocks the facetime application from even running. The other idea was to forward from our google voice number to the iPhone but that still displays our personal numbers when we intiate facetime.I know when Apple offered the Facetime demo their phone numbers were blocked when facetime opened. Is there some option we're missing that will allow us to block our number when using facetime?
I just installed a Sony XNV-770BT in dash Nav/Receiver with bluetooth capability in my vehicle. Both my wife and I have the iPhone 4S with AT&T. The caller id name/number will show up on the iphone, but will not pass through to the Sony unit, until after you answer the call. (This of course defeats the whole purpose of caller id!) Before you answer the call it says "Withheld", which is the Sony term for blocked, I guess.
It seems that there are quite a few issues with various iphones not passing the caller id info through to bluetooth devices, but I have not been able to find a solution to my specific problem. I called Sony and they offered to send me a new unit after I remove the one I just installed and return it to them, because they said the caller id feature is supposed to work with the iphone 4s. But this is a lot of trouble to go through only to find out the new unit acts the same way and it is really an iphone issue. The caller id pass through does not work with either mine or my wife's phone - I did the recent iOS 5.1 update and my wife has not. Here are the bluetooth profiles that the Sony unit supports:
Compatible Bluetooth® Profiles : A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)1.2
AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile)1.3
HFP (Handsfree Profile)1.5
OPP (Object Push Profile)
PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile)
We also downloaded our phonebooks into the Sony and and it does not make a difference if the call comes from a phonebook contact or not...
The caller voice volume has become low on my iPhone (I think it's a 3G, not sure how to tell). The ringer volume works fine. Is there a setting to raise the voice volume?
I was just wondering if there is a way of displaying the name of the Company of the caller that is stored on the iPhone, when that caller calls. => The solution around this is to insert the name of the company in the First Name. But is there an automated way to allow the disaply of hte information stored on the iphone to show up.
