View 5 RepliesI'm running a rooted 6P with TWRP and a custom kernel. Just got a notification for an OTA. Obviously, I can't run this update. How can I disable the update check? I have ROM Manager and know how to disable apps, but don't see any obvious update check system app.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDay one powering up the phone there was a system update that that never installed. Since then I have not received any OTA updates. I have had it since October 29th.
I am on Verizon and used my sim from another phone. Concerned that because the first update borked during set up that I am not going to receive OTAs. Seen other listing the same scenario. Factory reset and removing sim in order?
I just got notified that there is an update for January that is available to update.
I have followed the unlocking and rooting guide, and as such I'm worried that updating OTA will break my root.
How can I correctly update to the latest firmware without losing root?
I've had a persistent notification four months for an Android System Update (this is the January patch) that is getting on my nerves at this point.
How do I update the OS without losing root?
So far I've followed heisenberg's guide and have root and recovery.
I tried Lollipop for a loooong time and now I'm sick and tired. I downgraded to 4.4.4 but I have a persistent notification in the status bar saying that the new system update to android 5.0.1 is available. But I don't want it!
Is there a way to disable that notification? It is very anoying. I tried to download FOTAkill.apk and put it in system/apps with rw--r-r- permissions but doesn't work. I know that the simplest solution is to install a custom rom but I am very happy with stock rooted + xposed + modules.
Just got my Nexus 6P from Google UK to replace my HTC One M8 GPE (Been an amazing phone. made better by GPE)
Anyway, I've enabled developer options, but can't for the life of me get System UI tuner to work, the settings symbol just wont spin at all, tried holding it for 2-3 seconds, 5 seconds and 10 seconds.
Also tried this on my HTC One M8 GPE, Nexus 9 and wont work on them either?
Got developer enabled on them all.
I'm trying to upgrade my SuperSu to the latest beta so I can install Viper4Android for Angler. However, the instructions for SuperSu Beta states "If you are coming from any SuperSU install in /system, you must re-flash the stock system (and vendor and oem, if present) partition contents prior to installing this."
I was wondering if I could get some Nexus 6P specific instructions for doing that without screwing everything up. I assume this doesn't wipe my user apps.
I don't have the system UI tuner Enabled although it is supposed to be enabled already... trying to apply it opens up the "Pure Nexus" app instead of enabling it...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to delete the audio conf file in system/vendor/etc but it won't let me. I'm rooted and running Pure Nexus. Also when I go into the recovery and try to use the file manager it doesn't show me any files in that folder even though there are files in there. I just updated the Rom the other day.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently running PureNexus and I do like it quite a bit. However, with Android Pay only working on systemless root (which is full of bugs) I am thinking about going back to stock.
My question is, can I install the stock rom, root, remove bloat system apps that I don't want, and unroot?
Any way for me to stay on PureNexus and keep Android Pay working that would be ideal as I am getting fantastic battery life. I am a light to moderate user and I usually have 50-60% battery left at the end of the day.
on my previous phone (Xperia Z2) I can plug in to my computer via USB and copy files to/from the internal storage or SD card. When I plug my Nexus 6P in to the computer the same way, I just get an empty folder. I can't see all the files on the internal Android file system. Is this normal?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to figure out for sure whether or not it's possible to modify lcd_density without touching build.prop. Past versions of Android allowed one to override build.prop settings using a local.prop file on the userdata partition, but I've been unable to get that working.
It looks like in the past you could put qemu.sf.lcd_density into /data/local.prop, but that's not working for me, nor is any permutation of that variable or location of local.prop that I've tried. Did Google disable local.prop or officially disallow overriding of read only settings?
Currently flashing back to stock with the steps given by Heisenberg's step by step guide, number 11, how to flash the factory image.
At the command fastboot flash system C:anglerimagessystem.img and it has sat here for over an hour and a half now with the output of writing 'system'. If I'm not mistaken, my phone is basically bricked at this point, as all I have written to the phone right now is recovery and bootloader really, and since I flashed the stock bootloader that means it is relocked.
Is there any way I can unlock it from here and then flash TWRP again, and then restore one of my backups of my 6P to at least get it working again?
So I tried to install an exposed module and after reboot exposed wasn't working anymore. through xda searches I figured out my system partition was full. is there any way to make this partition bigger? or Every time i install a module will I have to uninstall a system app to make room?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do what I normally do which is go into the system UI media folder and delete the camera click sound after rooting. However this time even with those files completely deleted the camera app still make the shutter sound. Is it like OEM camera apps now where the sound is built into the app and it's not using the folder sound anymore?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try change Notification LED Color, The primary color "Green" and "Blue" do not seem to work. But when I move the slider down, I get RED, Pink, Yellow and Cyan.
Using Elemental-X 1.02 Kernel and tried with Chroma, Noobuilds and PureNexus.
Yes.. At time my nexus simply loses its notification sounds. Media sounds still works just the notifying sound disappears. And after a reboot it works fine.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSince we don't have a LED Notification light and I am missing one hardcore. Any app that will create a notification on the actually screen itself. Like a pulsing white dot, anything really.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've enabled System UI Tuner. But still can't customize the bar. At quick settings. I can see the hotspot button but it won't let me turn it on or anything. I can't see it in my notification bar.Its definitely not hidden in the status bar. So unsure what the problem is.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was restoring a twrp backup and when it reaches "flashing system image" in the restore process it just reboots. Ive tried a few things but cant get it going. It just bootloops.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThere is a notification light at the back of the phone inside the black glass module?I was at the movies on saturday and noticed that the light blinks for a brief millisecond on every notification.Just noticed that its the camera flash actually which goes off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll I want is "peeking" and the lockscreen notifications to work! Isn't this part of Marshmallow? Notifications to be not working/ inconsistent? What I am looking for is to have the screen turn on with every notification...this phone is either sitting on my desk or in a car holder most of the time, so I want to see the notifications without having to handle the phone. I've tried some 3rd party heads-up notification apps that work pretty good, but I am having issues with the lock screen (sometimes I have to enter and pin AND use the fingerprint scanner, which is a bit much to just access the phone).
1. I seldom get peeking notifications even though "peeking" is selected. With some apps, peeking works sometimes and not others. I have never seen a Peek notification for gmail.
2. I find the notifications seldom turn the screen on, even though I have the ambient screen turned on. Perhaps this has something to do with problem 1.
I've had the phone for a few days now, its been working great except for the fact that when i turn heads up notification off for pretty much any app the change doesn't survive a reboot. I am on stock MDB08B with root.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my 6p for a while and running cataclysm since day 1 so I don't remember about this. But, does the LED light stay lit when charging on a stock 6p? My brother just got his in today and it's dark so I'm just curious if it's an issue or that's just how it is stock. If it's normal I'm gonna have him use lightflow to activate so that's not a problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my old Note 3 it had a separate volume for the phone ringer and a separate volume for the notification tones, like my text messages. I have noticed on my Nexus 6P that it seems the ringer and notification volume controls are the same. I use to turn my text message volume almost completely off at night and leave my phone ringer turned up some. But I have not been able to do that on the Nexus 6P. Am I missing something or are these two volumes on the same control? I am rooted and running Pure Nexus. I need separate volumes controls for them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went into the settings of the Twitter app and turned of the vibration, but yet it still vibrates when i get a notification. It worked with my other phones, but doesn't work with the 6P....
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I took the first couple pics with the camera and now I've had a persistent notification (been there overnight at this point) that says "processed 2 of 8 items". Has a progress bar on it and (at this point) yesterdays date.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I cannot change notification sounds in each of these apps. It just falls back to the system notifications sounds. Do I need to change app permissions to allow for this change?
OK, gmail seems to work. Now just hangouts not working.
I used Gravity Box's Ultimate Notification Control on my rooted Galaxy S4. Mainly to control Google Hangouts to notify me only on the first message of each group.
Now that I've moved on to the 6P, is there a similar app or method to control these notifications?
I do not plan on rooting right away. Mainly because I want to be able to use OTA updates to the stock ROM. A way to mute consecutive notifications from hangouts messages would be amazing.
When i have bluetooth enabled, media plays through my bluetooth headset only but notifications like texts still play through phone speakers AND the bluetooth headset at the same time.
