Huawei Nexus 6P :: Ambient Display Not Working / Phone Screen Stays Blank In Phone Call
Oct 30, 2015
So just got my 6p yesterday but it seems as though ambient display although turned on is not working ND when I answer a phone call my screen stays black during the call and won't wake up.
So apparently it's because the tempered glass screen protector is covering the proximity sensor. I still have to actually test that theory out once I get a new protector but from doing some digging that most def it. Just a heads up I used the one by super shieldz so don't buy that one until they make a cut out for the sensor.
Question 1)Can I use both? Will ambient display show messages... Then when screen closes, the led kicks in?Or would screen light up and led at same time
Question 2)I use AC display... Which is sort of ambient display(never owned a moto or nexus 6). Is ambient display basically the same thing? Meaning I won't need that.
When I take/get a phone call my display stays black when i remove it from my ear for at least 5 seconds even pressing the power button doesnt wake it up ... I am on stock 6.0 but i also got that problem on cm12,1
Having issue with the screen remaining off during a phone call? Screen won't come on during the call, won't even come on from the power button being pressed... So I basically can't even hang up a call on my end without rebooting...
Do your Nexus 6P screen go black during a call. Mine does on every call. My display settings is set for 1-minute. I call Huawei support. The lady says that the screen is suppose to go and stay off during a call. Never heard of that from a phone. You cannot respond or do anything during the call.
Is there a way to make active/ambient display on S6 just like in the Moto X series which display a single clock and notifications every time a notification comes or you wave your hands close to it or take it out of the pocket. As S6 habe that screen from the Clear View case, probably it should be easy to show the same screen in the active/ambient display ocasions.
Ever since I have updated my X10 to 2.1 my screen goes blank after a call.i can speak on the phone but when the call finishes my screen gies blank and i have to take out my battery to turn it of.
Love my 6p. But every time I use the phone and put it to my ear it switches to speaker and I have to toggle the speaker on and off. The speaker icon does not turn on when it first happens. Am I missing a setting or do I have a problem with the phone?
I just got my Nexus 6P. The volume of music is very loud, but of the phone-call speaker mode very weak despite me putting it at max volume while in call.
Both mine and my wife's 6p's are not able to access the internet while a call is in progress. My phone is unlocked & rooted, however my wife's is complete stock so I know that can't be the issue. I've also tried disabling the "enhanced" calling with LTE under cellular networks on both devices and this doesn't fix the issue, either.
After going into my Verizon online and adding the Advanced calling 1.0 feature to my line, then rebooting my phone, and waiting a few minutes, things automatically started working.
Sometimes when I am making a call or accepting an inbound call, I will try to hit the speakerphone button (because I have a lot of trouble hearing the speakers in regular mode), only to have the screen go blank before I can do so. Sometimes it will come back after a moment and let me use the touchscreen, other times it will stay off for a while.
I just picked this up last week on a whim, the day Verizon released it, so I am new to the phone.
My question is... Can I customize the notifications that show up in the ambient display?
In other words... I want all notifications at the top of the home screen, just like always... but I only want text messages to show up on the ambient display. Not every piece of junk mail I receive, or ebay notices, etc.
I am about to just turn it off, but am hoping I can get it to only show SMS (texts).
just wondering i have a nexus 6 and i have ambient display enabled in settings, but when I pick up my phone the ambient display never comes on the only time it does come on is when I don't want it to come on if I get a notification it will come on but later when I pick it up the phone it won't and if I try to force it like if I keep picking up my phone to try to make it come on it doesn't come on either.Do I have a defective phone just got it yesterday so I can return it.
I will be listening to music through headphone, and a call comes and it isnt through headphone, I call with headphones in and call goes through phone speaker as if I do not have hadphones in at all.
If I press the speakerphone button, I will then hear through my headphone, but still cant talk through headphone mic.
I thought the call screen is supposed to give you options (headset, or headphones) but I think only saw it once, only thing the button does now is just switch the speakerphone and off the speakerphone.
So I have Priority Mode set at night so I won't get bothered by notifications, but I also have Ambient Mode on and even on Priority Mode it still lights up. Is there any way to set it so that my screen doesn't light up when Priority Mode is set? My room is pretty dark and I keep seeing my screen light up at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.
I got my phone yesterday, and it was working for about 18 hours. All of a sudden I picked it up at work and it is no longer turning on. I tried plugging it into the charger, holding volume up + power, holding volume down plus power, but nothing worked. I called Google support and they are going to send a new phone, but this doesn't give me a lot of confidence in this phone.
I've got my nexus 6p two weeks ago. In the last week i've noticed that the phone is always awake, even with screen off. In the first days of use doze was working well and i didn't have problems. It doesn't seem to be regular.
Having a weird issue with my screen. Occasionally, (about 5 times in the last 2 weeks) when I grab my phone, the screen does not come on. I can see the multifunction buttons light up, I can swipe the screen and hear the sound for the unlock, and if I tap on the screen it does not light up and screen stays black.
If I hold power, it does not reboot. if I push home it does nothing, but I can hear that the phone is on, if a call comes through I can hear it ring, and can answer from my home button, but the screen stays black.
I can do a battery pull and phone starts fine. It is as if the backlight is not coming on at all at times, or possibly like a proximity sensor is not allowing the phone to recognize that the screen should be off.
Cannot tell if it is a hardware issue or software issue. I have not changed any software since I got it a few weeks back, some software has updated, but this is happening comepletely at random and always when the phone has been locked.
Phone has never been dropped and is in a case and has no screen protector, there is not a mark on the phone at all.
Should I arrange to swap the phone? should I contact my carrier?
Sometimes there is black screen on my Nexus but I know that phone is working. After some time or after clicking on/off switch couple of times display appear. Sometimes it takes several minutes to put the display on.
Just got a brand new Nexus 6P yesterday, camera was working fine. Woke up this morning and the camera produces a black screen. Cleared camera data, cache, updated, tried third party apps, then performed a factory reset. All to no avail.
It is still locked I haven't unlocked the bootloader or even rooted the device yet... literally got it yesterday.
So I thought I can use "OK Google" when screen is off and it's not on charger. I can get it working on lockscreen and when it's plugged in but off the charger screen off I can't get it working.
Recently my Nexus 5 stopped working. I get no display, But I can assume the phone is on because when I connect it, the holder on my computer opens up.
I assume there is something wrong with the connection. sometimes i can play with the daughterboard and the backlight lights up. but there is still no display.
The problem is that the phone is in PTP instead of MPT.
I don't care about the phone much as the pictures on it, because they are the last picture I have of a family member that recently passed away in an accident.
Even though the phone is rooted. when I load up Nexus toolkit, the phone is listed as unauthorized and I don't know how to pull any files off of it.
My phone screen would turn on to show the clock only over a black background when let's say I throw in on the bed or put down "not gently". Is this a feature Google added?
