Huawei Nexus 6P :: Phone Is Always Awake Even With Screen Off
Jan 16, 2016
I've got my nexus 6p two weeks ago. In the last week i've noticed that the phone is always awake, even with screen off. In the first days of use doze was working well and i didn't have problems. It doesn't seem to be regular.
I have a bluesleep wakelock stuck on 100%. It won't allow any deep sleep, always awake. It will stop only when I turn off Bluetooth all together. Bluetooth and wifi scanning are both off. I have a watch, even turning it off won't work. Also froze Android wear apps. No change.... Maybe something to do with missing kernel binaries?
Here are some better battery stats. Thurs is obviously after a fresh reboot, makes no difference really.
My bluetooth is keeping the device awake all the time since the past one month. Even if I disconnect my G Watch, bluetooth drains the battery. Waited for Marshmallow and installed it yesterday after formatting the phone but it bluetooth is again at the top in power consumption in the battery stats and keeps my Nexus 5 awake all the time. It used to work really well until last month.
So just got my 6p yesterday but it seems as though ambient display although turned on is not working ND when I answer a phone call my screen stays black during the call and won't wake up.
So apparently it's because the tempered glass screen protector is covering the proximity sensor. I still have to actually test that theory out once I get a new protector but from doing some digging that most def it. Just a heads up I used the one by super shieldz so don't buy that one until they make a cut out for the sensor.
Having issue with the screen remaining off during a phone call? Screen won't come on during the call, won't even come on from the power button being pressed... So I basically can't even hang up a call on my end without rebooting...
Just got a brand new Nexus 6P yesterday, camera was working fine. Woke up this morning and the camera produces a black screen. Cleared camera data, cache, updated, tried third party apps, then performed a factory reset. All to no avail.
It is still locked I haven't unlocked the bootloader or even rooted the device yet... literally got it yesterday.
So I thought I can use "OK Google" when screen is off and it's not on charger. I can get it working on lockscreen and when it's plugged in but off the charger screen off I can't get it working.
My phone screen would turn on to show the clock only over a black background when let's say I throw in on the bed or put down "not gently". Is this a feature Google added?
I know you can do this with smart pairing of Bluetooth devices but I was hoping to be able to do the same for when I'm playing music through my car's auxiliary jack / over the phone's speakers. I've done a fair bit of googling but haven't found a solution. I use llama app on my phone to trigger events and have tried setting a trigger using the music app to trigger the screen lock to disable but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if it's feasible to somehow trigger screen lock to be disabled when a music app is active?
I am seeing this issue increasing on daily basis. My phone is usually in my pocked (not in doze) or some times lying around on the desk (dozed/not dozed, but still notification should deliver late). But I have noticed that in both situations, I don't receive any notification until I actually turn on the screen.
As soon as I turn the screen on, notifications start to come in all together.. (around 4-5 notification comes together). It seems that they were pending to be delivered but were never delivered to the device until I woke it up and data connection restored.
I understand that in doze mode, notifications are delayed but are delivered, but in my situation they are not even delivered until I turn on the screen and wait a couple to 5 seconds.
- I am on Stock Android without anykind of root (systemless or regular). - I don't have any kind of advanced battery saving mode on or app installed (greenify or clean master etc). - I don't have battery optimization for whatsapp still no notification comes in - I see it on both Wifi and LTE.. - Cellular notifications like sms, mms or calls are not affected with this issue, they come on time.
I purchased Huawei Nexus 6P phone 1 week before and i want to print screen like samsung note-II phone but i am not able. I have to send print screen for my web hosting site.
So, my nexus 6p screen toggles on once every minute or so while charging and i can't figure out what caused it. This is without input from the user. i'm running stock rom 6.0.1 with elementalx 1.02, rooted with double tap 2 wake enabled.
The timing which it toggles on are : 19:31 19:31 19:33 19:34 19:34
I have set up "OK Google" to recognize my voice from screen off.
This works great, however, when I use it, it requires me to enter my PIN/fingerprint to show the results.
Is there any way to turn this off? I have to do that every time.
And as far as security reasons, the phone won't respond to anyone else, so it's not like someone would be able to "OK Google" and unlock my phone, unless they sound exactly like me.
I use the daydream feature as a bedside clock. I plug it in, daydream clock comes on and all is good. When I wake up in the middle of the night the screen is off. How to override?
I have noticed the screen not turning on occasionally when phone is unlocked. This only seems to happen in the car when connected to BT, and phone is set in the holder. I can still make a call via car's BT dialer, but even then the screen wont come on.
I came from a Nexus 5 and had to always leave my screen brightness on about 1/3 in order to preserve battery. After playing with my 6P for over a month, I feel like the battery can handle a brighter setting (with my usage). But, I have concerns about burn-in if I put the setting too high since this is an AMOLED panel. What brightness settings are you using and have you had any issues with burn-in?
My phone has pink screen, it's even but I want to tweak the colors and make it more accurate (or at least for my own like) ... I'm rooted, any good apps for this out there? I want to keep stock kernel if possible ...
Just got the Nexus 6P , after years with Samsung note series... I was wondering , is there anyway in Nexus 6P to do screen mirroring over the wifi ? without any dongle?
I tried the Cast option , but it did not recognize my Sony tv which is connected to the same WIFI network, while the Samsung note had that "screen mirroring" option built in, is there anything equivalent in the Nexus?
I notice this while trying to put it on my desk or one hand typing texts, it seems the auto rotate sensitivity is too high. Is there some way to "turn it down" so you can turn the phone more before it auto rotates? I know I can turn it off, but I use it in Chrome and YouTube and probably couple more apps.
I've been running Android M preview (3?) for a while on my Nexus 6.2 months ago my USB-connector of the phone broke and only because I also have a wireless charger I can continue to use my phone.Just now I tried a headphone and noticed that viper4android wasn't working, which it did a while ago.I still had the file viper_aio_fixes.zip in my download folder I used to get it going a long time ago. [URL]..
I booted into recovery, flashed that zip and did a reboot. Now it is stuck at the black screen with only the text "Google" and a padlock.I am able to boot into fastboot where I can go in the several modes including recovery mode (Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.5.0). I don't have any possibility to connect it to my computer using an USB. The device does still have warranty, but I can't miss my phone.
1) With Ambient display enabled, the screen pops on when a notification comes through, or when I pick up the device. If Ambient display is disabled, the screen doesn't wake for either circumstance. - The way I would like to have it, is where the screen only comes on when a notification comes through, and not when I move the phone. For me, it's a bit annoying most times. Is there a setting or another way to achieve this?
2) When Ambient display is enabled and I get the sound or vibration for a notification, it takes a few seconds (3-5) for the screen to come on. - Is this normal? I'd prefer it to come on right after the notification sound/vibration.
I'm currently on build MDA89D, and have fingerprint/pin set for lock screen security.
Okay, so there is no screen protector or anything. Not rooted or unlocked or tampered in any way. I've had the phone for 26 hours and then the following happened:
EDIT: YouTube video added [URL] ..
I pulled the phone out of my pocket to unlock it. I see the lock screen and put in my pin (yes, I see the actual screen and stuff on it. Let me make that clear.) after I enter my pin successfully the screen locks itself. I contacted Google support and they said to factory reset it. I did the full factory data reset in the recovery mode (again, the screen works. I can see everything to do a FDR and I can see the boot animation) and it starts to boot up. Once I see the "welcome" screen it instantly locks itself.
I can hear the audible "latch" locking sound that it makes when you press the power button. I know the buttons are not malfunctioning because they work perfectly fine in bootloader / recovery mode to scroll up and down and select things. I've tried multiple things but nothing seems to work. The problem here is that I want to try and do a factory image but my computer will NOT recognize my Nexus 6P when in recovery mode / bootloader mode. I have all the drivers installed but since I can't access the OS and enable OEM UNLOCKING there is no way to factory flash a factory image is there? Again, I can NOT access the OS at all whatsoever.
There is no toggle to enable cast on the stock rom, but on the custom roms there is. I want to remain on stock but I also want the screen casting to television to work. How to enable it in the stock rom?
Last night I was getting annoyed by some screen flickering in Chrome. I was trying to pinpoint the issue, but it is not that easy. For now it only happens in chrome under these conditions:
Landscape orientation Using Swiftkey flow input Chrome tries to fill in something you already searched for
Sometimes I have to delete and restart typing in the keywords in order for the issue to appear.
It kinda happens when the omni-box gets auto-filled when trying to flow type on the swiftkey keyboard, the right portion of the screen will start to flicker like it is some sort of VRAM corruption.
This doesn't happen with stock google keyboard. Is it possible that hardware is still ok, can an app under certain circumstances do that? I only received my 6p a week ago.
My Nexus 6P will not do anything but charge when it's plugged up to my PC. I am using the systemless root and Franco kernel r7. Other than that, it's stock. What happens when I plug my phone into my PC is the battery icon changes to charging, and that's it. The PC does not recognize the phone is plugged in, and there are no unknown USB devices in device manager. I also do not get a USB notification on my phone.
More details:
- I have done the complete drive install VIA the nexus root toolkit (both initial setup before this problem, then again when the problem surfaced) - USB debugging is enabled - I swapped cables about 3 times, no change - Tried different USB ports on PC and laptop and even ports directly connected to the motherboard. no change. - Tried on my laptop (Windows 10) and it does the same thing as the PC (Windows 10). - USB settings are set to MTP, although if I change it, it seems to get stuck on charging. I have to tap MTP about 3-5 times in order for it to say it's in MTP mode again. - Running the command adb devices in command prompt does not show anything connected.
Other than this weird issue, I have not had any problems with my phone. I also have another USB-C cable on the way, but it seems unlikely that would be the issue.
I got my brand new 6p last week on friday and am in love with it, currently testing out the battery to see how much juice I can get out of it in a normal working day. I have however noted that when i browse using 4g on chrome the phone gets warm, not too hot to hold but get noticeably warm, the top half between the camera and the fingerprint sensor and the front screen as well. I have the phone in the 'adopted' case that i ordered with it from the Google store which might be bad for heat dissipation but still wondering if other people have had their phones get warm when being used?
