HTC :: Wildfire - Can Update To Android 2.2 Or 2.3
Apr 13, 2011Considering buying one of these, either this or the ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco in UK). The Orange San Francisco is cheaper and has a bigger screen with more resolution, but the Wildfire looks more solid. Can I put 2.2 or 2.3 on it though?

Oct 25, 2011I have purchased my HTC Wildfire about a year ago from Bangladesh. It is made in Taiwan, shipped from Singapore and most probably made for Germany. My system software version is 2.1-update 1. I know 2.2 FOTA is available. Few of my friends have got it during January. But I haven't got any automatically. Even when I check manually, it says "No updates are available". I have tried (1) Soft reset by removing the battery for couple of minutes (2) changing the date forward & backward (3) Factory (hard) reset, (4) Through both mobile network and wi-fi ...but failed.

Aug 24, 2012Yesterday I installed windows 8 Professional X64, but now I'm not able to connect my Htc Wildfire S to my PC. HTC Sync ( v3.2.20 ) says "No device connected" I guess thats because I'm missing the Android Phone drivers. In device manager there is two devices without driver: Android Phone and RNDIS ( USB Tethering ) Device manager is not finding any driver for my phone when I press update driver. I have also installed latest version of Googles SDK manager and installed EXTRAS // Google usb driver package which didn't solve this problem either... Referring to googles help docs ( OEM USB Drivers | Android Developers ) I should download OEM driver from HTC site but there ain't any..

I was hoping to use this to enable me to access the internet on a netbook and it seems like the Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot function would do the trick.However, when I tried this I get on to a T-Mobile page that is then asking me for more money and it seems that T-Mobile can detect that it is a different device than the phone trying to access the internet.

Jul 23, 2011I have a vert strange wi-fi issue. I was advised to do a software reset a few weeks ago and that sorted the issue I had at the time. However, it will now not connect to my home wi-fi. It says it's obtaining an ip address, sits like that for about 30 seconds, disconnects, scans and tries again in a loop. I haven't changed any settings on my router and the phone connects to my friends wi-fi.
