I have a vert strange wi-fi issue. I was advised to do a software reset a few weeks ago and that sorted the issue I had at the time. However, it will now not connect to my home wi-fi. It says it's obtaining an ip address, sits like that for about 30 seconds, disconnects, scans and tries again in a loop. I haven't changed any settings on my router and the phone connects to my friends wi-fi.

It is connected to my router and the weather app connects and updates and google maps connects very slowly, but the others apps say unable to connect to server. My router is 54g with mac address filtering but the phone is allowed and shows as associated, and as I said some apps connect, but others don't. It works fine through my works public wi-fi set up.

I was hoping to use this to enable me to access the internet on a netbook and it seems like the Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot function would do the trick.However, when I tried this I get on to a T-Mobile page that is then asking me for more money and it seems that T-Mobile can detect that it is a different device than the phone trying to access the internet.

Up until recently I've had no issues with my iPhone 4, however, as of late, the phone can't detect my home WiFi network. I have several other devices that can find and connect to the network without issue, and have power cycled the router to be sure. the issue is most definately with the phone itself. iPhone has no issues connecting with public WiFi networks at McDonalds, Starbucks, nor the Airport. As far as iPhone is concerned, there is no WiFi networks to connect to in my home. I can't remember if this issue began before or after I installed 5.1 on my phone. I'd like to try all avenues before fully resetting the phone, as I have alot of data, settings and un-backed-up photographs, documents, etc. I'd rather not risk losing. So far, I have reset the phone (Hold Home and Power until phone resets.), Reset network settings, turned the phone on and off both with WiFi turned on and off to no avail. For the record, I have searched out and read alot of threads on this issue, and tried many if not all of the suggestions contained therein. Most of these issues pertain to iPhone not detecting ANY networks, or detecting but not connecting.

I have a D-Link DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router connected to my Telus high speed modem at home. The router has been set up for WPA-2 security with a 63-character passphrase. A 17" Macbook Pro (2010) (built-in Airport) and a homebuilt PC (2011) running Windows 7 (D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme N Dual Band USB Adaptor) are able to connect to the router. I have copied the same passphrase to the Notes section of my iPhone 4S and then tried to connect to the network. Passphrase is correct. Connection times out and says it was not able to connect.

this problem started not long ago. when im standing right next to the router it connects. but if i move a step away i start losing signa;. so even if im in the room with the router i barely get any wifi (while all the other devices work even from outside the house)Â
