I'm trying to figure out what they do and what they mean. So far, here's what I think I've figured out. The translucent white track ball on the bottom blinks slowly about every 10 seconds when you have a new email or message. The top tiny LED to the right of the ear piece glows steady green when fully charged and steady red when charging. I recall it blinking green at one point but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to make it do this or what that would mean.Do any of you have any info. about either the [phantom] blinking green LED or any other status light issues?
I know the little light that blinks green tells me I have a message of some kind. Today I noticed a yellow light there but I don't know what that was indicating. I looked through the manual, but I can't find a reference to it. What all is up there...light sensor, little green light for _____, little yellow light for _____, anything else?
I an unable to save a custom status on my status list on Yahoo! Messenger. The add to status list check box was not showing.. I am usinng BB Curve 8520 and my YM version' is 2.5.63.

I was curious if you could bypass the forced activation screen on the Eris and make it to the home screen. I know you can do it on the Droid but I cannot figure it out for the Eris.
The last two nights I've plugged my Eris into the wall charger and it doesn't charge. The battery icon shows the lightning bolt and appears to be charging but when I wake up in the morning the battery level is still below 50%.
I want to jump into the smartphone world (I currently just have a flip phone) and I think the Eris is just the perfect form factor for me. But I heard it's running an old version of the Android OS (1.5). The guy at the Verizon store said the Eris would likely be getting the Android 2.0 or 2.1 OS in the next month or two. I figure I should wait as the current 1.5 version does not give you free Google maps navigation. The 2.0/1 will. Plus it will operate significantly faster.
I dunno if the Eris is that much better to make me stay with Verizon. The Sprint plans are just better. I really have no idea if there's any difference between the two though.
Any idea how to transfer contact info (or any other data) from an AT&T Samsung phone to the Eris? Clearly, due to the two different system I can't just use the SIM card from the Samsung. Tried bluetooth but after pairing the two phones the Eris showed: "Paired but not connected". (I entered 0000 as PIN code for both phones (no idea what those PIN codes might be)) and I got that message. Also, the phone is connected to my wireless (signal strength is excellent, speed 54 Mbps, channel 1 (I don't know what it means)) network but the browser is not working, I can't open any website. Can it be some setting issue?
Oh, the Eris is not activated at this moment on any mobile network, but the browser should work when I'm on my own wireless network, shouldn't it?
...I like the form factor of the Eris and I think it offers some functionality that the iphone (current version) doesn't. But then there's the apps available for the iphone and some other things.Based on what we know currently of the soon to be released Verizon iphone, what would you guys do?
How good is the wifi antenna on the Eris? Comparable to a decent laptop?I've never had a phone with wifi before but I would want a phone that can get reception where my laptop does. Sometimes I use these devices pretty far from the AP with low signal strength.
I have flashed verizon Droid Eris to Pageplus. It's working great. the only issue is I am using lot of data and end up in using all the 50MB in a couple of weeks.Any tricks to decrease data usage.I am using Wifi whenever I can. I try to disable mobile internet as many times I remember.
I got the update to Android 2.1, and I am very happy with it . However, ever since I upgraded, my weather widged is not working. As soon as I open it, it opens up but without any data, then an error pops up for a fraction of a second (cant really read it), and then it gets stuck (mostly black). It is not an after market widged, so I guess I can not just uninstall it and then re install it... what would be the way around it?
I am trying to flash this droid over to sprint. when I write the sprint prl to the phone it accepts it, but does not get any service. system ID is correct. I tried several sprint prls and it still doesnt work. I slap the original verizon prl on the phone and I get full service bars.
Think of buying a used Droid Eris in top condition, so that I can use a well known Verizon MVNO.
Of course I'm not trying to compare the Eris with an iPhone in terms of syncing up with a Mac .... but as far as a touch screen device, typing / touching accuracy, user interface experience .....
How does the Eris with 2.1 / 2.2 compare to the iPhone 3Gs? Since I'm going to be paying for a non-Contract phone -- the Eris is the only one I am considering.
i have tried to configure an imap ssl mail account on port 993 which has a self signed certificate. After entering the server and user settings etc, the connection test just ends without any message, showing the server settings page again. To my opinion a popup should appear instead, asking if I would like to accept the certificate. But as there is no chance to proceed to the next config page it is currently not possible to configure such a mail account. Several other users in german android forums are complaining this as well. Because the same server and settings perfectly work with my older HTC hero I assume that this must be a bug in the new htc mail app.
I am using a Droid Eris and a BlueAnt V1 earpiece. The BlueAnt offers voice-controlled speed dial on with phones that "adhere to the Bluetooth specification for speed dialing."For example, I should be able to say "Call Speed Dial 8", and the headset would tell the phone what to do. The V1 recognizes my commands (and repeats them), but when it sends them to the Eris, I always get a last-number redial.I suppose that means the Eris isn't fully Bluetooth compliant. Odd for a relatively new phone. Any hope in getting this to work? (and is this the best place to ask?)
So here is the deal I had gotten the Eris on VZW when it came out and put my yahoo email on it when it had the 1.5 OS and when I would delete email off the phone it would not delete it from my email account which I prefer, but now I have gotten tired of HTC/VZW to approve 2.0 OS and have loaded a leaked version onto my phone and now the email also deletes from my account when I delete it from my phone which I don't like besides that very happy with the 2.1 update that I did I was just wondering if there is any way to tell your phone not to delete the emails from the actual account when you delete them from the phone because I accidentally deleted an important email not realizing it also deletes on account.
I'm having issues with my Verizon Droid Eris. I can send MMS photos, but I cannot receive. It just says "Message not download. Retransmission scheduled on XX:XX" Also when I try to select something on my main screen, for example 'messages', it'll go to something else. (people, recent calls, pdf viewer... anything but messages.)
I have a HTC Droid Eris and it has a 5 mp camera.I notice it takes decent pics...if I upload them directly from my phone to flickr the quality stays intact.but if I use the facebook uploader or upload it via the facebook app the quality diminishes
Is there a way for me to upload directly to facebook without losing quality?or do i have to manually do it through usb or flickr? thanks
Is there a way for my most recent text message not to be displayed on the first screen you slide on upon wake up? What was the point of having a lock application if your personal text are displayed on the screen before it? Please dont tell me to turn off the notification in the text settings cause that happens to for some odd reason be linked to the audible txt notification as well so if you turn off "display notification" it kills the sound that you have a txt as well.I would happily download an app if it clears up this weird quirk. Just let me know what apps there are to do this.
When I call someone, the call starts and a notice says "Speaker On" every time, no matter how many times I switch it off. How do I stop this from happening? Also, at random intervals, the screen turns itself on, draining battery life significantly. Why does this happen?
I have no idea what the appropriate place is to suggest new features. I would suggest a better use of the breathing lights on the 5800 (and I guess any touch screen device). When the battery is low, all you get is a very fast light up of the display, so if you're not looking you would not know that the battery is getting low. Couldn't the red (hang up) light be used for this purpose? When the battery gets low, it slowly pulses. It would drain the battery less than lighting up the whole screen, and you would know without unlocking the phone.
