HTC One M7 :: Phone HDMI Screen Scaling / Overscan

I am connecting my HTC One to my Pioneer AppRadio using the HTC Media Link and it works great aside from the black borders on all four sides of the screen.
The Pioneer AppRadio has a resolution of 800x480. With my previous device (Motorola RAZR XT910) there was an HDMI setting in the phone menu which allowed you to overscan the output so you could force it to fill the entire screen. The HTC One has no such option. Also, the resolution / scaling apps I found in the Play Store indicate they don't work with the HTC One.

I fitted my Atrix on the multimedia dock, power connected then connected HDMI cable from the mm dock to my Vaio laptop HDMI, as I read and understood the firefox browser should be launched directly but did not happen
By the way I have the whole motorola multimedia kit.

My HDMI icon stays in my status bar after I use HDMI to my TV. It won't go away until a reboot. Does anyone know why? Is there a procedure I'm not following to disconnect cable?

Came across this article today which states, in summary, that Android tablets (including the Xoom) and Apple Notebook which a mini HDMI port are facing trouble after a HDMI Organization source states that the mini connection does not fulfill HDMI specification.Further, HDMI Org also claims that these brands have not received a proper license from them nor have they requested any authorization for the use of the ports. An official from the HDMI Org said that they have asked several tablet producers to replace the Mini DP plug that is currently fitted into tablets with a socket for it to conform to their standards and regulations.URL]Unfortunately, this article is not independently sourced. I've now bought two of the little cables that can supposedly connect my HTC One to my TV, and tried them on two different TVs with two different HDMI cables. Nothing works.
I note on a video on YouTube where someone's got this to work that there's a HDMI icon at the top of his screen. I don't ever get that. I do get a sort of rainbowy effect on my screen sometimes when things are connected up.

I've just found out my S6 doesn't support MHL I've tried MHL 2 and 3 adaptors and they don't work.
I don't have a Samsung smart tv and I don't have an allshare cast (which Samsung have discontinued)

using n8 with hdmi out (have big screen app installed) to use bbc iplayer (basically a web-based real video app, similar to Internet, but allows you to "catch-up" with previously aired bbc tv programmes in the uk).
i've started using my n8 upstairs, on my bedroom tv - so currently have no lan connections, and my n8 is the only way to watch programmes on iplayer around the house (can use my wii console for this purpose in the lounge).connectivity all seems to work ok, and manage to pair a spare wii controller to the phone to control it (big screen app functionality?).
the one thing i'm curious / concerned about is what's on my phone screen whilst watching iplayer on my tv over hdmi. normally you use the break-out / fullscreen option when watching iplayer on tv, so on my phone's screen, all the while i'm watching something, there's a web page in landscape, with a black box (about 1/3 of the screen size) of the video that's playing on the tv.
1. will this cause any damage, "burn-in" or overuse of my phone's screen to watch programmes on my tv for a couple of hours? have to say i'm not that up-to-date with usage best practices or things to avoid with things like amoled screens, just vaguely remember some concerns with plasma or lcd tv displays.
2. is there any way to blank my phone's screen whilst watching this app (bbc iplayer) on my tv? if i use the lock-key, the app stops / pauses.

I have a trouble. After connection to TV and disconnection via hdmi cable the screen of photon is never turned off, only manual or after rebooting. Stock ROM 198_7, root, motorola's hdmi cable, TV panel.

I am not the only one to have had this happen. ANother poster over at Droidfourms.net has had the same thing happen to them. The screen after disconnecting from the HDMI port will go dim like it is about to shut off but it won't. It will stay dim until you manually turn off the screen with the top power button. It is a glitch and battery killing one to say the least. Anyone else have the issue or remedy other than rebooting like I had to! I mean why do I have to tear apart an Otterbox case everyday? If the HDMI glitch doesn't bother me then it is the black screen of death requiring another battery pull!

So I broke down and experimented with the mirror mode today. That was awesome. What wasn't awesome is that the screen timesout and that's it for the audio.So if I want to listen to my music, do I have to set the screen timeout for never? Is there no specific HDMI mirror mode setting for this? I looked around and couldn't find one.

I'm having my first issue with my Z3. Every time I connect my micro USB to hdmi lead it drops the wifi connection and the screen connection will drop about every ten seconds. I'm at a complete loss for answers I've try'd different leads and trawled Google for hours for a fix. This set up worked perfectly on all my other Zs.

Is there any way to turn the orientation of the screen when the HDMI cable is plugged in.
Currently when i use the HDMI cable the screen turns such that the cable goes in from the bottom which if the XOOM is on my lap is awkward. It would bebetter if the HDMI port was at the top.

I can't seem to get audio from my 950XL hooked to a display dock then to a monitor with hdmi cable. I thought that was working before but now I'm second guessing whether I ever tried this before. I have a HDMI display device which does not support HDCP. It is a HDMI video recorder (BlackMagic), so it makes sense that it does not support HDCP encrypted info. It works fine with all the other LG and Samsung Android devices with HDMI output, but now I connect Xperia Neo V to it and it tells "screen is turned of or does not support HDCP". I purchased the device specifically to be able to record screen casts of the mobile apps I have developed. can I disable HDCP signal encryption? I've connected the Neo V with TV and I can see that the image quality is quite poor there (definetely worse than 720p as it should be), so I see no real point in HDCP protection. I did not see any specification or reference in manuals that the device is compatible with HDCP HDMI only.

My z3 is connected to my Samsung tv via a hml to hdmi/usb cable and displays the screen no trouble. It shows Internet pages no trouble too but when it comes to playback of movies, YouTube, streaming video over the wifi it is virtually impossible to watch due to it taking an age to load, playback the movie. On disconnecting the cable normal Internet speed resumes and videos steam without lag. Is it phone settings or tv or wifi?

If I turn the phone off, the notification goes away for a bit, but still comes back after about an hour. I did try "Factory Data reset" under the privacy settings, but that did not make a difference.

Is there a certain sequence to disconnecting HDMI from streaming video over the internet?I used it this weekend to stream a show from the internet and when I disconnect (pulled the HDMI cable out) it still says HDMI connection detected. The icon up in the notification bar doesn't go away unless I reboot the phone.
