on Sunday August 1 I reached to answer a call on my sweet new Legend, and the screen did not come on. The phone promptly turned off. I was able to restart the phone, it played the welcome chime and the notification LED blinked but no screen. A hard reset was out of the question because of the lack of screen functionality.
I've since sent it in for repair, but wanted to post this because someone I know had the exact same problem and am wondering how many others there are out there that are going through the same issue.
My problem is with Wifi connection to my Siemens Router. The phone detects my network and shows three bar signal strength. I then select the network, type in the password, select connect.....and nothing. It shows the network as remembered, but everytime I try to connect nothing happens and the Wifi 'tick box' always shows disconnected.It did connect to a BTopen Network. Which leads me to believe it is my router. The wireless is obviously on and working if the phone detects it. So, as a newbie to wireless, I assume all you need to connect the phone is the SSID name, and the WPA key (which, I believe is the password).
Upgraded to 2.2 using my home wifi. All seemed Ok and the phone rebooted.
I get as far as the opening screen showing the time and date but none of the four buttons along the bottom of the screen do anything. The only button working is the on/off button.
Tried a factory reset using the volume down and power button. Phone rebooted but I am still stuck with buttons that don't respond and I cannot do anything.
Is there any way at all to adjust the sensitivity of the screen as I find I am frequently unintentionally making calls or diverting to some other page or program.
when i was using the Motorola SF600 headphones (nothing the break the fall when i dropped the unit) and the screen cracked. Ok no problem, cracked screen still works i can live with it. Now today my screen is blanking in and out basically i cant see anything on the screen. This sucks, the SF600 headphones failed me twice i should have never even tried them.Let me note I still have my 32gb 1g ipod touch which has been smashed and dropped on cement so many times guess what screen never cracked, not once the thing still works for crying out loud! Sad thing is i might buy another unit but motorola really has some suspect issues. I am thankfull i bought this unit from amazon warehouse deals and was issued a credit due to an incompelte box so out of pocket was maybe $150. But jeezus Motorola lets make some stufff that can last and survive an accidental drop.
Suddenly my Tocco started to play, when I press anything on the touch screen it registers the touch in completely different place, or doesn't at all. So, either you have to press ALOT of times to do anything or you just get angry and cannot do anything. I took it to local samsung store with my warranty, after a week I had it back and they said it was liquid damaged therefore you have to pay.What I though is, if it was liquid damaged (But I never remember to have any liquid on the phone, even a small bit) wouldent it be worse? Not just screen sensetivity. After looking on ebay I have found Digitizer with touch screen for Tocco, which costs 15 pounds. So my question is, would it solve the problem if I bought it and replaces, and if not, any way to sort it out without paying too much?
I am currently roaming so away from the office where I might get a solution.....however yesterday my battery ran down and when I charged it, instead of the usual charging lights I got a white screen with a small spinning clock that disappeared leaving just a blank white screen. I let it 'charge' overnight but with no change. I have tried removing and reinserting the battery after a couple of minutes but this has not solved the problem. The screen remains white - if I unplug and reinsert the charger the red charging light comes on briefly then goes off with a return to the white blank screen. Is there anything I can do while away?
So there I was saving an alien world by killing one jelly at a time when my screen completely quit responding to touch. First thought was my Razr just had its first freeze/reboot but the sound was still going and the jellies still marching toward my precious gems. Instantly realized my Razr was ignoring me. Tried my side keys and they worked as usual, sound keys toggled sound up and down and lock key locked/opened power menu but was unable to select any options as the touch sense was still out to lunch. It's been almost a half hour and the screen is stuck on the lock screen and won't even dim. Which coincidentally is a good thing b/c it's way to much work to pull the battery on these things .
Getting "Uncaught exception:java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException" when trying to access text from main screen icon. I can still text if I access through contacts / recent activity if I've been texting them recently. I've tried power cycling but still get the error.
Unfortunately my BB9900 past away. Black screen, Red light flashy and all the same symptoms in previous other posts. I have tried:
- Batt pull - Chargin with Power cable and/or USB cable and pull the batt in / out - Installing software - Resetting with BBSAK and JL CMDer
All without any result. Only thing is: When I pull the battery and connect it with my PC, after 30s/60s I see a battery (with a red cross) in the screen. I have tried now to install the software trough "c:program filescommon files esearch in motionapploaderloader.exe" /nojvm but no luck. Is it possible to connect with other software? Where can we download software to Flash the Rom and are their any ROMS available? My guess is a software failure in the ROM.
I just bought a pair of HTC Legends through Bell Mobility. I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and although I have the phone set to automatically detect time based on location, the time is showing an hour behind.Even when I set the time manually, my google calendar integration is showing all appoints an hour behind.(Google calendar is set to Atlantic Time, and changing it to Eastern will simply mess with all of my appointments. )I've been looking into this, and know that I'm not the only one with the issue. When I check the Timezones settings, both Eastern and Atlantic are flagged as GMT-4, which is wrong.I made a post on the HTC forums regarding this, but am not getting a feeling that it's going to go anywhere.
Called Bell, they couldn't help me, but created a ticket to appease me. I'll call back tomorrow for an update.Anyone have any advice on how to fix it? I tried getting into the timezones.db, in the /etc folder, but not having much luck getting it open on my PC.
I have an unlocked Bell htc legend using with FIDO, and while wifi does work , no matter what i do to enable data connection for 3g or even enabling GPS no icon ever shows up. Ive done a factory reset twice. APN settings were the same i used on iphone. Just transferred the sim card. Took sim to another phone to make sure it wasnt the sim and 3g works.This appears to be the phone doing this but would like suggestions/insight.
Okay is there a way/procedure to allow the HTC lengend tp sync up with outer look on your PC via bluetooth? I know you can use the USB cable but on my old nokia all you had to do is have a bluetooth connection from the phone to the computer in order sync up witht the outlook. I would think such an advanced phone as the HTC legend would have such a feature? Love the phone otherwise
I picked up a Virgin HTC Legend and had it unlocked through mobileincanada.com.I played around with the network settings and can't get it to pick up a network. I get a message that says "error while searching for networks", and when i click select network automatically it says "your sim card does not allow connections to this network".
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to free up storage? My understanding is the phone has 512MB, however out of the box, maybe 60MB tops to install anything. I realize you can't expect the full 512, but having less than 100MB is pretty ridiculous.
Have not been able to find any specific information about users who are running the HTC Legend, that is sold it Canada only at this point, on the AT&T network with full 3G capability.If so, is anyone able to still use the unlimited media net plan ($15), without AT&T automatically upgrading them to the smart phone plans? I'm worried that HTC would be reporting the IMEI of this model like they are doing with the Nexus One.
I have two android phones a nexus one and an HTC legend. One thing really bothering me is the way texts are stored on the legend. Chats don't flow as both the sent and received seem to seperate together where as the nexus one keeps the texts organized in order. Is there a way to change this on the legend?

I'm considering moving over from a Nokia E63 to a HTC Legend and would like to know if the latter can effectively synchronize with MS Outlook - that is synchronize contacts MS Outlook Calendar, Email etc or do I have to use a third party program, export all this stuff over in some messy way?i use MS Outlook a lot for storing appts, information about events and emails & really need that available as I have in the E63. I also want an Android Phone for it's effective ability for web access, multimedia viewing and so I can effectively modify its functionality.
previously on the 2.1 when we go to setting and to privacy there was a option to backing up the data to the sd card but on 2.2 the option of privacy is not available at all!
Got my Legend a few weeks ago & loving mostly it so far. Having searched the manual I have failed to locate instructions on.how to turn the flashlight on.
I would like to use my Legend as a GPS the same way I use my car GPS; ie without being online, and having an exorbitant bill from 3 mobile due to data downloads while roaming.
I got a task killer , thking it would help. but I barely see a diffrence. This is my first smart phone, maybe its all smart phones that the battery drains really fast.Any tips or anything I could do to make it last longer ...!?

On my HTC Legend all my sms messages are shown in the wrong order. I get the oldest one first which is very annoying. How do I change the sms sort order?
i have problem recently with my legend that when you try to drag down the notification bar, it doesnt slipped down and some times, the screen is not responding even when I try to ulock the phone.
My legend has connected to my router without any problems until the other day when BT had a problem and we were without phone line and router for 48 hours. When it came back, I was no longer able to connect with the Legend. My laptop connects wirelessly without a problem but I get the message: "obtaining IP Address.." and then it disconnects and tries again.
