When my phone rings, the screen doesn't turn on. It's like the screen is off. It's vibrating, ringing, but I can't see who is calling. If I hit the lock/power button then I get the lock screen, I can unlock the phone and answer. This has been happening for the past week or so.

I want the screen to turn on automatically with the incoming call dialer like kitkat or any other android version. so I can pick up the call.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhen my phone is asleep and I get incoming notifications whether they be texts, emails, notifications, etc my screen does not turn on briefly to alert me, only the notification light blinks. Is this normal or is there a setting on my phone that is not enabled correctly? I kinda don't like this, I'm use to my phone briefly turning it's screen on when incoming alerts hit my device (coming from an iPhone.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedHitting the power button does not turn the display on. Actually nothing turns the display on. This began happening occasionally, for a few seconds at a time. Then it became a few minutes at a time. Now it is permanent.
What's truly odd is that the phone seems to be completely working otherwise. It rings, alarms go off, indicator lights flash. It connects to my car over bluetooth and if I plug in headphones and hit the play headphones' action button, music starts. If I hold the power button down, every 5s I get a little haptic feedback, and it appears to reboot if I hold power and volume up (or down, I can't recall), so I know the buttons are working.
I even have a suspicion that touchscreen digitizer is working because I think I've dismissed a few notifications by double-tapping (I'm on Lollipop). Also, I swear I have seen very fleeting, very dim views of the unlock screen a few times.
I should also add that I took advantage of Google's recent replacement policy lenience - this is a refurb I've had for a month or two.
I'm contemplating replacing the screen/digitizer on the theory that this is a broken screen. It feels like the backlight is broken. But I'd rather not spend the $$$ and time if the problem is deeper than that.
Can't receive incoming calls, people are telling me it goes straight to voicemail.
Can't make outgoing calls. Phone says "dialing" but it never rings and call just ends.
I have a Nexus 5 running Android Kit Kat 4.4.2. Overall this is a great phone but i am facing some issues that i will describe below:
1) This i noticed 2 months ago. I dont know if it still has it: I was calling a friend and he didnt answer. Then the whole day i was waiting for him to call back but he never did (at least according to my phone). When i called him again he told me that he called me back, the phone rang 3 times and then he got the message we get when someone rejects the call or the phone is out of battery. I never had a missing call to know that he called back. This is a very tricky error, since maybe you are missing incoming calls from your boss. To you it appears like you never received the call, but to your boss it seems like you are ignoring him. Not a good thing.
2) This is a problem i am getting for the last 2 months. When someone calls and the device is sleeping, i hear the ringing, i unlock the phone but what i get is the main page of the device. No incoming call notification, no dialer, nothing.Only the ringtone. If i press the phone app i get 3 choices:
a) use touch tone keypad
b)return to call in process
c)add call
Pressing "return to call in process" doesnt do a thing. To see who has called you, you must go to the missed calls after the ringing is over. Also if you dont restart the device, the problem stays there. The only solution is to restart the device. After restarting the device the problem goes away for 2-3 days and then it happens again.
I dont know if other Nexus 5 owners are experiencing the same problems, but since a smart phone is based on making and receiving calls, these 2 problems must be addressed by Google ASAP.
Also, i am not willing to factory reset my device, if i am not sure that this will 100% solve the problem.
PS1: My device is NOT rooted.
PS2: My brother's Nexus 4 started having the same problem (problem number 2) after updating to Kit Kat 4.4.2. But not in the same frequency as my Nexus 5.
Okay so my Sprint Nexus 6 is not receiving calls while it's connecting to Wi-Fi and on LTE the only way I can get the phone to receive calls consistently is keep it on 3G this issue is been reported all over the internet I've had the phone for 10 months and just really noticed it was doing this. It appears to be an issue with Wi-Fi and LTE on at the same time if I'm out and about and not on Wi-Fi LTE in phone calls work fine but if I'm in the doors and have Wi-Fi on my phone will stop receiving calls after about 10 minutes of sitting.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is happening often. When I have an incoming call the call screen appears and phone rings. I go to answer by dragging the icon to the green answer icon and nothing happens. The phone continues to ring. Trying to drag to the red ignore call icon has the same result. Eventually the caller gets sent to voicemail, but the phone remains locked in this state and needs to be rebooted before it is operational again. I thought it was related to teh phone being in a lockscreen state, but it now appears to be random. I have contacted Google and they said they have not heard of this issue before. Essentially it is unusuable as a phone.

My nexus 5 is having screen issues and the screen basically doesn't function due to what I can only assume is a bad connection on the mainboard ( if I press in the right area with the back cover off the screen will flicker and work a tiny bit if I reboot the phone.) My issue is I still have tons of pictures that are very dear to me on the device and need to get them off of it.
When I connect it to my pc (windows 7) it connects and shows up as a nexus 5 device but nothing will appear in the folder. Im fairly certain I have the correct drivers installed as well. So how can I get it to connect properly with having basically no access to the screen?
I noticed that when I play video through you tube and the ones that I receive on whatsapp didn't utilize the full screen of the Nexus 6.
There is a lot of black dead space in the videos taking away the advantage of the big screen. I see these videos occupying the full space of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus

Currently the touch screen works but there is a problem. I am unable to answer calls as the screen goes black and does not turn on again until the person has hung up or until i reset the phone. Also when i try to call out the screen turns black as well and exhibits the same symptoms as listed above.
From people who have had experience with cracked Nexus 5 screens, do you think replacing the digitizer + lcd will fix this issue or did i screw up something big
I have had my Nexus 6 for a while now and haven't had any problems with it. But since updating android to 5.1 I can no longer turn on my screen during a phone call. I can't hang up, hit any numbers or anything else. I changed the setting so when I hit the power button it ends the call. But I am still left with the problem of not being able to hit any keys so I can't check my voicemail anymore. I tried doing a factory reset and I am still left with that same problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe thing is that whenever I go inside the range a previously accessed wi-fi network, my N5 will only connect to it when I turn the screen on. For example, when I come to my office or my house, it's only when I grab the phone and turn the screen on that I see the device picking up the connection. That's regardless of how long I've been there and how long has the phone been inactive. It also happens when momentarily going outside the range of the router, like going to the bathroom and back in my office. I was told that it's because the phone goes into deep sleep quickly and stops scanning for connections.

for about 2 weeks i cannot receive incoming phone calls any more. Earlier it worked without problems. Now even in the phone log, no incoming calls are registered. I can make phone calls by myself, i can receive incoming calls by facetime, but no phone calls or sms. The phone is not muted (i tried the button already) . A complete reset of the phone did not change anything.

When Oren calls I see only "Oren 111" or "Oren 222" etc. I want to see "Oren Home 111" or "Oren Tomer 333".

I played a lot with the settings, tried re-improting the numbers from google, tested my contacts on an Asus phone(there it worked) etc - nothing works on mine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
