View 16 RepliesSo here is the deal: I have a nexus 5 that fell into water 1 month ago, i did all the procedures, rice + brushed all the circuits with isopropilic alcohol (100%) (oh, it stayed like 2 hours under water!). After doing that amazingly the cell phone was working perfectly, until after one month the screen started going black:
1- turn the cellphone on
2 - everything works fine, i get to the unlock phone screen
3 - while at the unlock phone screen i can see notifications for exemple, turn the cell phone to airplane mode, etc.
4- once i click on a notification or i unlock the screen, the screen goes black. and it happens every time that i unlock the screen
Sometimes i turn the cellphone on and it works normally for a couple of seconds or a couple of minutes and then the problem comes back. First i tought it could be a software problem, so i cleaned the cache, it didn't work. Then i did a factory reset, the problem was still there, so the only guess left for me is that something is malfunctioning because of the water damage. But, it only turns black once i unlock the phone.
Getting a totally black screen when you hit the dial button? I cannot even bring the screen back up to hang up...
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I wanted to get some free hearthstone card back and free packs, which were only given out to people with Samsung Galaxy S6. Apparently there was a way to get this on any device by editing "ro.product.brand" and "ro.product.model" in build.prop.
I did this, restarted my device and got my stuffs pretty easily. After this, I replaced the build.prop with my backup copy and restarted my phone. But, this time the phone is not booting. After google logo, it's stuck with black screen.
So far I have tried clearing cache but didn't work. Also, I tried to use adb to pull the build.prop but unfortunately I get "error:Closed" even though "adb devices" does show up my phone.
So i dropped my phone today, literally no exterior damage whatsoever, the software (from what i can tell) is fine as well. The problem is that everytime i turn on the screen and then unlock it the screen goes black and it's locked up again. I've tried reflashing the sofrware and wiping it clean, the problem persists.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my 5.1.1 patch over air and next time I reboot the device, only Google and Android logos greet me, after that only black screen (but OS boots, because I can take screen shots of the black screen. Only option is to press power long and shut the device down. Cache wipe did not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe past week my phone has started not responding and just having a black/blank screen. I can tell it's running, I get notification sounds and stuff, but it just won't respond. I can reset it by holding the power and volume up button, and that seems to fix it for some random amount of time, but eventually the screen will die again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 6 worked for months, but now when the phone is on the screen stays black.
When you start the Nexus 6, the Google logo shows up, the starting animation plays, then the Android text shows.. then the screen goes black. If I hold the power key the "Power Off" dialog opens, I can also take screenshots (of a completely black screen), otherwise nothing shows on the screen.
I took the phone into T-Mobile and they sent me a replacement. After walking through this new phone's setup (adding my Google account, setting up a lock screen) the phone screen went black! Just like the old phone.
Wiping the cache didn't fix anything, but if I factory reset the phone (on either phone), the screen works as it should and goes through the setup process before the screen blacks out again.
I tried not setting a lock screen and the phone still blacks out so I don't think it's lock screen related. I'm starting over again and trying to set the phone up without importing any of my Apps to see if that will change anything.
I've always done system updates when prompted and the phone is not rooted or have custom settings or anything like that.
I just wiped and started over without installing the list of old apps and it still does has this same issue..
Looks almost like a bruise on the screen, only when the screen itself is showing black (i.e., screen is on). I must have dropped the phone at some point... any way to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 screen while plugged in has gone completely black, like it's off.
I've tried holding the power button, holding power+volume up, and power+both volumes.
All that happens is a mini vibrate every 10 seconds or so (like the vibrate that occurs when the word Google normally appears) but absolutely no light on the screen...it remains black.
About a month ago the screen/digitizer was replaced because the thing had a mind of its own, clicking everywhere randomly. Until today it was working flawlessly. Twice today it started lagging, forcing me to power off/power on. That worked both times, but now this has happened.
So, I turned on my phone and now it goes straight to the bootloader. So, when I select "Start" option, screen turns black (can still see backlight shining though). It was sitting there for hours, but screen stayed black.
I did have a rooted phone, but I hadn't tinkered with it for about 6 months.
Recently i got careless and i accidentally cracked my nexus 5 screen after dropping it on the ground
Currently the touch screen works but there is a problem. I am unable to answer calls as the screen goes black and does not turn on again until the person has hung up or until i reset the phone. Also when i try to call out the screen turns black as well and exhibits the same symptoms as listed above.
From people who have had experience with cracked Nexus 5 screens, do you think replacing the digitizer + lcd will fix this issue or did i screw up something big
So I tried to root my 6P with the Nexus Root toolkit , first I unlocked the bootloader, that went well . After that I tried to root it but my build number wasn't there (MDB08L) So I researched if that would be a problem and a couple of people said they followed the same instructions as with the MDB08K build and it worked just fine on theirs so I proceeded.
I selected the "any build" from the options on the toolkit and it seemed to be going well, I followed the instructions , flashed the files on twrp and from there I rebooted and it got stuck on a bootloop... :/ so then I tried to use the toolkit to fix the bootloop and selected the MDB08K and after it ran and finished it isn't exactly bootlooping but it is now stuck on the black Google logo and does nothing ...
I have a big problem with my phone, there are some days my screen had three vertical white line on certain colors, like this : URLs....But with time the problem is worsened, my screen is totally crazy, i can't explain, juste look the video. URLs....This problem is in bootload too: URL....
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince 5.1 during calls my screen goes black, and does not wake up until the other person hangs up.
It's like it thinks I have it up to my ear, but I don't. So I can't hang up, I can't use the dial pad, I can't see alerts, nothing.
I recently bought a Nexus 5 and it has a dark patch on the screen. This is visible only when the phone is in a locked state. Initially i thought it was dust but the patch stayed on. I have attached the image...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 and how should I lock my screen (and unlock also only if possible), without having to press the power button?
View 9 Replies View RelatedA lot of times when I pick up my N6 the screen does not turn on so I'm forced to hit the power button. What is the "trick" to get this to work? What do you normally do to turn on your screen besides hitting the power button? Or is that my only option...
View 2 Replies View RelatedHitting the power button does not turn the display on. Actually nothing turns the display on. This began happening occasionally, for a few seconds at a time. Then it became a few minutes at a time. Now it is permanent.
What's truly odd is that the phone seems to be completely working otherwise. It rings, alarms go off, indicator lights flash. It connects to my car over bluetooth and if I plug in headphones and hit the play headphones' action button, music starts. If I hold the power button down, every 5s I get a little haptic feedback, and it appears to reboot if I hold power and volume up (or down, I can't recall), so I know the buttons are working.
I even have a suspicion that touchscreen digitizer is working because I think I've dismissed a few notifications by double-tapping (I'm on Lollipop). Also, I swear I have seen very fleeting, very dim views of the unlock screen a few times.
I should also add that I took advantage of Google's recent replacement policy lenience - this is a refurb I've had for a month or two.
I'm contemplating replacing the screen/digitizer on the theory that this is a broken screen. It feels like the backlight is broken. But I'd rather not spend the $$$ and time if the problem is deeper than that.
since my lock button broke (currently sorting this out with insurance) i havnt been able to screenshot anything. i have browsed the app store and couldnt find anything. i was wondering if anyone knew of any on the app store as i havnt jailbroken.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically I'm having some issues with my HTC Sensation, and I was just wondering if it was a common problem or if it's completely unheard of. What's happening is that whenever I press the home button on the bottom of the handset, it will take a screen capture (even when I don't press the lock button). It's kinda tempremental, however it's doing it about 3 times a day...and the only way to stop it is by restarting the phone!I have done a factory reset on the phone and updated all its software but that hasen't seemed to in the slightest.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 running Lollipop. One day I picked up my phone and my font was changed to white with black outline. I have developer options enabled but even so, I cannot change the font at all, which is why it is so weird that my font was able to be changed. I would like to change my font back to the factory default.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy power button is completely dead. I can neither switch off or switch on phone nor can i out it to sleep widout third party app.
I need to unlock bootloader and root phone but all methods need a working power button.. Any way i can do this widout power button jus by using pc and command window ?
I am extremely satisfied with the stock marshmallow (MRA58N) . The only thing that bothers me is that I need to save my power button (random power off issue when pressing power button, may fail completely in near future). Right now I am using gravity screen app to use my proximity sensor to wake the device. This does not work all the time. I end up using the power button.I know almost all the custom rom out there supports volume rocker to wake. But I dont want to move to custom rom. So the way is to root. So here is my question
1. Will unlock the boot loader
2. Flash StephanMc_Kernel
3. Install twrp
4. Flash super su
5. After this what to do ?
I got this second hand nexus 5 with Marshmallow installed. I was wondering why m headset with button for play/pause is not working it all. It came from my Xperia phone before and it is working just fine for play/pause/forward and backward... It is MH750 with single button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy N5 has a hardware fault where the phone thinks the power button is permanently pressed, so as soon as you try and boot it, it turns off again.
I am able to get to fastboot, by holding down the volume down button and power. But from there, I cannot boot to recovery or normal system boot.
I have been unable to fix this, and I really want to get some of my app data off. Is there a way of extracting a backup somehow from fastboot? I'm guessing no, as you can't access via adb through fastboot?
My Nexus 5 power button recently started getting stuck and is now completely stuck down so it goes into boot loop,
My question is, if I remove the power button from the board completely will I still be able to boot it using ADB ?
Yesterday my power button died, but I was able to turn on my N5 somehow. after, I've enabled the double tap to sleep on the statusbar and on the lockscreen and volume buttons now wake the device, but I wasn't able to remap the power button and if I accidentaly press it, I don't know what will happen.
So, there's any method to completely disable the power button? I've tried with gravity box but there isn't any option to do this. How to disable the power button from the .kl files in system/usr/keylaout? And then, can I use the volume buttons to turn on the device when it's off or I have to keep it on forever?
