So, I turned on my phone and now it goes straight to the bootloader. So, when I select "Start" option, screen turns black (can still see backlight shining though). It was sitting there for hours, but screen stayed black.
I did have a rooted phone, but I hadn't tinkered with it for about 6 months.
I downloaded the Android M preview 2 and while flashing the bootloader with:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-hammerhead-HHZ12h.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
after the reboot the only thing my screen ever displays is garbled colored pixels even after pulling the battery. Fastboot still works just fine, so I tried wiping everything and reflashing but it still never shows anything but this screen. I even tried reflashing older versions of the bootloader and nothing works.

So I got my Nexus 6P yesterday and the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader and root. However I just noticed this morning that I no longer have access to the camera. If I open the camera app it just shows a black screen with the camera symbol in the middle and Snapchat just gives me a black screen. The only things I have done were u lock bootloader, Root and I changed my DPI to 400. I've tried reboots and clearing data/cache from both Snapchat and my camera app with no success.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo here is the deal: I have a nexus 5 that fell into water 1 month ago, i did all the procedures, rice + brushed all the circuits with isopropilic alcohol (100%) (oh, it stayed like 2 hours under water!). After doing that amazingly the cell phone was working perfectly, until after one month the screen started going black:
1- turn the cellphone on
2 - everything works fine, i get to the unlock phone screen
3 - while at the unlock phone screen i can see notifications for exemple, turn the cell phone to airplane mode, etc.
4- once i click on a notification or i unlock the screen, the screen goes black. and it happens every time that i unlock the screen
Sometimes i turn the cellphone on and it works normally for a couple of seconds or a couple of minutes and then the problem comes back. First i tought it could be a software problem, so i cleaned the cache, it didn't work. Then i did a factory reset, the problem was still there, so the only guess left for me is that something is malfunctioning because of the water damage. But, it only turns black once i unlock the phone.
Just wanted to upgrade my sisters phone which was running an old 5.1 version (custom rom, so the phone was unlocked and rooted already) to an android 6.0.1 custom rom. So I flashed newest twrp and flashed 6.0.1 bootloader and radio.img via fastboot using wugfresh tool and the files from the thread on here. now when trying to get into recovery, I am stuck at the google logo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I wanted to get some free hearthstone card back and free packs, which were only given out to people with Samsung Galaxy S6. Apparently there was a way to get this on any device by editing "ro.product.brand" and "ro.product.model" in build.prop.
I did this, restarted my device and got my stuffs pretty easily. After this, I replaced the build.prop with my backup copy and restarted my phone. But, this time the phone is not booting. After google logo, it's stuck with black screen.
So far I have tried clearing cache but didn't work. Also, I tried to use adb to pull the build.prop but unfortunately I get "error:Closed" even though "adb devices" does show up my phone.
So i dropped my phone today, literally no exterior damage whatsoever, the software (from what i can tell) is fine as well. The problem is that everytime i turn on the screen and then unlock it the screen goes black and it's locked up again. I've tried reflashing the sofrware and wiping it clean, the problem persists.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Nexus 6 a few weeks ago and it cracked the top left of the glass. I attempted a glass replacement and ended up shattering the LCD. I bit the bullet and ordered a new LCD. I connected the new LCD and booted the phone up. The Google boot screen comes up fine, but once it goes to the spinning orbs before you get to the UI, the screen triples the icon and once it fully boots everything else is in triple as well. Once booted into the UI, there is also a strip about a half inch high that is nothing but colored static dots. The rest of the screen is normal, but basically unusable because of the tripling effect. I would like to attach some pictures but I am not sure how.

Just got my 5.1.1 patch over air and next time I reboot the device, only Google and Android logos greet me, after that only black screen (but OS boots, because I can take screen shots of the black screen. Only option is to press power long and shut the device down. Cache wipe did not work.

I can tell it's running, I get notification sounds and stuff, but it just won't respond. When you start the Nexus 6, the Google logo shows up, the starting animation plays, then the Android text shows.. then the screen goes black. If I hold the power key the "Power Off" dialog opens, I can also take screenshots (of a completely black screen), otherwise nothing shows on the screen.
I took the phone into T-Mobile and they sent me a replacement. After walking through this new phone's setup (adding my Google account, setting up a lock screen) the phone screen went black! Just like the old phone.
Wiping the cache didn't fix anything, but if I factory reset the phone (on either phone), the screen works as it should and goes through the setup process before the screen blacks out again.
I tried not setting a lock screen and the phone still blacks out so I don't think it's lock screen related. I'm starting over again and trying to set the phone up without importing any of my Apps to see if that will change anything.
I've always done system updates when prompted and the phone is not rooted or have custom settings or anything like that.
I just wiped and started over without installing the list of old apps and it still does has this same issue..

I've tried holding the power button, holding power+volume up, and power+both volumes.
All that happens is a mini vibrate every 10 seconds or so (like the vibrate that occurs when the word Google normally appears) but absolutely no light on the screen...it remains black.
About a month ago the screen/digitizer was replaced because the thing had a mind of its own, clicking everywhere randomly. Until today it was working flawlessly. Twice today it started lagging, forcing me to power off/power on. That worked both times, but now this has happened.

Currently the touch screen works but there is a problem. I am unable to answer calls as the screen goes black and does not turn on again until the person has hung up or until i reset the phone. Also when i try to call out the screen turns black as well and exhibits the same symptoms as listed above.

So I tried to root my 6P with the Nexus Root toolkit , first I unlocked the bootloader, that went well . After that I tried to root it but my build number wasn't there (MDB08L) So I researched if that would be a problem and a couple of people said they followed the same instructions as with the MDB08K build and it worked just fine on theirs so I proceeded.
I selected the "any build" from the options on the toolkit and it seemed to be going well, I followed the instructions , flashed the files on twrp and from there I rebooted and it got stuck on a bootloop... :/ so then I tried to use the toolkit to fix the bootloop and selected the MDB08K and after it ran and finished it isn't exactly bootlooping but it is now stuck on the black Google logo and does nothing ...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 that I was preparing to hand down to my wife. I had transfered everything over to my new phone, and initiated a factory reset. It rebooted to the "erasing" screen, and sat there for about 20 minutes, before switching to the dead android screen (w/ red triangle.) I thought that was odd, did some searching, and tried the recovery mode from the bootloader. That produced the same results. So now I'm stuck.
From the boot loader I can access the following options:
Start -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Restart Bootloader -> Screen goes blank, phone vibrates, and then back to the bootloader screen
Recovery Mode -> Erases for ~20 minutes, then dead android
Power off -> turns off the phone
I called Google, and the tech support hadn't heard of anything like this. Because it's almost two years old, he transferred me to LG's tech support, who basically said find a local repair shop, or they could RMA it for an unknown cost.I'm pretty sure the phone is bricked at this point, which is frustrating, because it was running stock android - completely unmodified. I think I might have rooted it once, months ago, but I can't imagine that that would have caused this issue. I had even received and installed Marshmallow OTA, and it was running perfectly.
Anyway, some program I might be able to use on the PC to regain access to my device.

I was trying to install a ROM and things got a bit messed up. I wiped system/cache/dalvik/data via TWRP. I then went to install the ROM but it failed due to only supporting hhz12h bootloader.
So now I'm kind of stuck. I can't update the bootloader because fastboot/ADB won't list the device in TWRP. Is there any way to launch an ADB server in TWRP so I can fastboot the bootloader? Doesn't look like there is.
If there's not: Is there a TWRP zip-install hhz12h bootloader I can use? Looked around, couldn't find one.
If not I'll have to try and find/flash the original image..but fastboot is not going to happen so I have to find a zip installable one that'll work with hhz12d bootloader...which hopefully is around. Otherwise I could install literally anything just to get an ADB server so I can fastboot the hhz12h bootloader in there.
so I was trying to flash the latest Nexus build to my Nexus 6, but the bootloader was taking 10+ mins to flash, so I tried closing out of cmd and then restarting my phone into bootloader. Unfortunately, now, my computer doesn't recognize my phone, saying that the drivers are no bueno, so that when i type fastboot devices nothing shows up.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy Nexus 5 has recently run into a problem where it suddenly decided to get stuck in a bootloop. I figured I could just reflash the stock rom via the boot loader with the wugfresh root toolkit but that unfortunately didn't work. But by doing this I noticed that my bootloader was not staying unlocked when I try to unlock it. Every time I unlock the boot loader and it restarts the bootloader automatically re-locks. I then proceeded to try and manually flashing the stock rom files individually and unlocking the bootloader each time I flash a file which was really annoying. It still hasn't worked and I'm starting to get worried because I've also started to notice my recovery can't really factory reset or wipe the cache. Instead I get this message at the bottom of the screen:

I wanted to test marshmallow so I decided flash xtra smoth rom by daniel84cs.as I am coming from lollipop so I flashed bootloader and radio of marshmallow but then I stuck into bootloop somehow I managed to get my backup restored now I am back to lollipop as I have done a factory rest before restoring so I should need to flash lollipop bootloader and radio again or I am good to go?

I don't really care about custom ROMs, but there are a few root apps I would like to use.
For example, I'd like to enable touch to wake. That would make the phone perfect for me.
But I just do not want to brick the phone.
just updated my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0 -- things looking smooth
went to root it
step 1) enable developer mode
step 2) restart into bootloader
step 3) fastboot flash recovery boot.img ( download.chainfire.eu/580/SuperSU/nexus5-hammerhead-lpx13d-kernel.zip )
step 4) reboot into recovery mode...
step 4 is where things get funky, when I tell bootloader to load recovery mode the phone restarts and then boots normally.I've been hacking at this for a few hours, and ended up loading the boot.img file more than once (see steps below) -- the original attempt worked and would access recovery mode the "load from zip" option wasn't available to I started tinkering, at one point I told it to restart from recovery mode -- it listed updating 7 files after which it had flashed itself back to factory defaults.I then flashed the boot loader a 2nd time it stopped accessing recovery mode
since then I've tried
- download Quick Boot app (crashes when trying to load recovery mode)
- flashed with fresh factory image
- numerous attempts to restart into bootloader
- voodoo chanting (not really but that's next)
After OTA update device got stuck on Google logo and somehow recovery is missing, Android on it's back with red triangle. Is there way to fix it with locked bootloader ?
