Google Nexus 5 :: Voice Activation Deactivated - Won't React To Input
Nov 5, 2013
So the "OK Google" voice activation was working from home and Google Now screens this morning when I got the phone. Now the microphone icon changed to this and won't react to my voice input so I have to manually tap the icon to start voice command.
I'm locked out of my phone. Whenever my phone restarts, it for some reason always changes the default input to Google Voice Input. I just recently changed my security from a Pattern to a Pin. The only problem is now I can't enter my unlock PIN with the google voice keyboard. I said the numbers followed by "enter" and "return" or the numbers by themselves but it didn't work.
I'm thinking about getting the Nexus 5 mainly for the price and fastest android updates. I know the phone works without activation with a carrier (t-mobile, sprint, etc.) But without a carrier, will I still get the android updates straight from Google?
Whenever I try to use voice input with any application installed, the feature does not work with my phone, I get a box, displaying connection problemak againI have enabled the voice input, in the settings of NeoV. Though I did not see this working.
The voice detection was turned off. I enabled it, said OK Google three times, and it's working. But the search bar on top of every home screen (Nexus 5) no longer has "Say OK Google" in it. I don't mind, but is this an official change?
I'm not sure but i think my nexus kinda has a very low sound output during voice calls.. I can barely hear anything at full volume in a not so loud environment..
When I have BT activated on the N6P along with Google Maps Nav, the sound output (voice directions) is either:a. When phone is set to BT stream music = sound command is partially cutoff at the beginning - orb. If the radio is on = No sound output is heard at allGoogle Nav is set to output sound via BT under its settings.
This also happened on my OnePlus One. I thought I had read somewhere that this happen because of the BT format that Android sends to the car's audio system is incompatible.
I would like to install & use a "visual voicemail" app on my Nexus 5 (AT&T is my carrier). AT&T's visual voicemail app is available only pre-installed on its (AT&T-sold) phones. There is an AT&T Voicemail Viewer app, but it works only on certain phones.
I want an app that will handle voicemails, convert voice to text , etc. I would use Google Voice, but it appears that GV might be discontinued or maybe rolled into the confusing Hangouts app.
I recently replaced LCD digitizer and I can't hear voice calls unless in speakerphone mode.. Either I messed something up when I put it all back together or something else is wrong...
How to get voice input on the LG G3 keyboard? I have added it in the menu and activated everything but the handwriting pencil appears instead. Even after a long press on the "wheel", no voice key appears...
When I am talking using voice input I keep getting cut off after a few words. I have to keep repeating myself picking up where it cuts out. Not useable like this. It happens no matter which application I am in and no matter which keyboard I have active. This never happens on the Note3.
The advertising / presentation video for 3.03 shows a dude giving voice commands / direction to his phone, which starts to navigate to the correct address without a finger touched the phone. How will I do this on N97, is it possible?
I've noticed that the voice input feature for text messaging (which I REALLY like!) sometimes appears to disable or something, all on its own, and when you attempt to utilize it again, it won't engage. Is there a toggle switch for this somewhere?
I mean, installing agingerbread keyboard from play store, the voice input icon appears in the keyboard...However, I'd prefer to use the stock one. This is for the xperia active, compilation 4.0.2.A.0.62 (android 2.3.4) and at the moment I don't plan to upgrade to ics.
Without me doing anything, my (new) HTC ONE M9 started requiring me to SPEAK the necessary text (e.g. passwords) instead of presenting the keyboard where one would normally type the text.
Started with VIBER OUT (when I tried to purchase credit) but now it is pervasive - AY text input is expected through voice.
A small window at the bottom of the screen pops-up (with a mic button and the google logo on it) - I can't get rid of it ...
I looked through some of the previous problems listed and didn't see mine so thought I would start a new discussion. I have had my 8520 for 7 months, and within the last two weeks it started acting up when I tried playing music.Anytime I plug in the head phones it automatically asks me to "say a command" for the voice activation. Which is not something I use. It also doesn't always switch from speaker phone to headset and I have to manually switch to my output of choice, and last but not least when the "say a command" option appears I cancel it and then my MP3's play at a slower audio rate (or half the speed of the actual music). Turning off the device doesn't help and it seems to only correct itself when I do a reset (by removing the battery).
A few things that i discovered and its bad! Comparing to E71, E72 is very bad. By the way, this is the second E72 i am using. I bought one before, same issue, now the secound one, Same ISSUE again!
Here are the problems: I need to type in Chinese (pinyin) but whenever the language is switched to Chinese input, the calculator does not allow me to input decimal (how bad this is!).
Also in Chinese mode, once back to English input, the SPACE bar input is NOT WORKING. The only way is to restart the damm phone.
My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.
For months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.
Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
I'm running Cataclysm ROM (the Sept. 10 beta), Franco kernel, and I'm rooted and use Xposed. I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.
So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.
Just wanted to upgrade my sisters phone which was running an old 5.1 version (custom rom, so the phone was unlocked and rooted already) to an android 6.0.1 custom rom. So I flashed newest twrp and flashed 6.0.1 bootloader and radio.img via fastboot using wugfresh tool and the files from the thread on here. now when trying to get into recovery, I am stuck at the google logo.
