Google Nexus 5 :: Cannot Connect To Home WiFi Network - Authentication Error
Oct 8, 2015
Basically I was streaming a video on you tube the other night, until my Nexus 5 froze up. My phone was taking way too long to respond, so I decided to hold the power button until the device shut off, and I held the power button again to turn it back on. (duh) As soon as it turned back on, I was no longer able to connect to my home WIFI. So now whenever I try to connect to our home WiFi, I get an "authentication error" and the WiFi network status just comes up as 'saved" instead of "connected". My mobile Data works fine, it's just my WiFi that isn't working anymore. Did I accidentally fry a component within my Device that allowed me to connect to a WiFi network?
I have had it connected with no broblems for a week as I have a new router and all my other devices work of this router through wifi. Now my S5 wont connect have Put the PW in as it asked for and is the one on the back of the router and have made sure it is correct but still no go. I have rebooted the router in hope this would work but no go either.
I just bought a Nexus 6 phone recently. I tried connecting to the Wi-Fi where I work but it keeps saying Authentication Problem beside the WiFi name and will not connect. I just updated to Lollipop 5.1.1 thinking this would work but I am still having this issue. I don't want to have to use my data whilst at work all the time!
So I have never had problems with my wifi, until yesterday. I realized the wifi was not on when I got a "Data usage warning" from my phone provider.
I looked at the wifi and it was not connected. When I try and connect to my home network (which my husbands phone, my ps3 and my pc are all connected to without issue) it gives me an "authentication error".
I would assume that would be the password or something, but the password is fine.
I have: - tried turning to airplane mode and back - tried changing it from "auto" to 2.4mghz only as in the troubleshooting guide - tried turning off always scanning - tried restarting the router and modem.
It all started on 5.1.1. I flashed a new build of carbon and suddenly it was searching for WiFi constantly and not finding it at all. So I did a clean install of exodus and then cm 12.1. So I went back to stock locked my boot loader on 6.0.1. The WiFi issue still persist.
First and foremost I'm a new Android user coming from the iPhone and I absolutely love everything about it. My one problem isn't Android; however, it's been this N5 wifi connection issue. I cannot connect to my home wifi whatsoever.
I do have unlimited data with my plan but still, the use of WiFi is obviously important. Has Google stated they are working on a fix for this?
I'm at the point of possibly returning my N5 for a different phone as much as I love everything else with this phone.
I switched to a new mobile provider but I wanted to keep my old mobile number, so I applied to keep my old number through a porting application. I was given a new sim which I put in my LG Nexus 5, and my old sim was in another mobile.
An hour after the porting was applied for, the reception fell to nothing on my old sim and older mobile. This was to be expected of course. However, the reception on my new sim/LG nexus 5 also fell to "emergency calls only" so the porting didn't quite work. I made sure that the APN is correct. I can search for the available networks, but when I press to register after a while I get an error: "Can't connect to this network right now. Please try again later".
I called my new service provider and they told me to wait a bit. I waited till this morning and the issue is still present. I'll be going to the nearest outlet soon but I'd like to be sure that the issue is not my LG Nexus (as I found many problems by other users on the internet), but rather the issue lies in their SIM.
I tried my new sim in 2 other mobiles and I couldn't get any reception. I tried my friend's sim and it worked on my LG. This makes me think that the issue lies with the new SIM and not my mobile.
I can not connect my new iPhone 4S to my home WiFi network, whereas other networks are OK. A possbile explanation - the password contains 26 characters, and I haven't tracked don't how to change that password.
I currently have the blackberry bold 9700 for tmobile.I can connect to my home network but i cant use apps such as the facebook app or the IM+ app or any social networking apps of that sort.Whenever i do try, it says you need a mobile carrier internet connection or a wifi connection. I have a white signal(showing im connected) to my home network but nothing will work.
I still have to wait for full-functionality on my X10 when the service provider gets updated to a new contract in a few weeks. However, I cant get it to connect to my home wi-fi network. It recognises the network and remembers it. The Network Key is good. Ive tried both with and without 'data traffic enabled', and of course the phones Wi-Fi is turned on- Ive tried that both through the main screen and through the Wi-Fi Settings screen.I got a shock bill last week because the phone was using dial-up connection instead of Wi-Fi without me realising it!Also, how can I ensure it chooses unsecured or 'FreeZones' when on the move over dial-up? I want to be able to use the Navigation function, but worry about the phone being connected too much, even with the internet bundle I am subscribing to.
I've got data traffic, and Wi-Fi ticked and I can see my network on the Wi-Fi Networks list but when I click on it and enter the password beneath Wi-Fi it says "disconnected".What's even weirder is that I managed to connect the phone to the internet the first time I booted it up for five minutes, but since then I haven't been able to recreate that success . What should I do?
my droid X2 will not connect to my home Wifi network. I have to reboot my router to get it to connect. It tries to connect but displays a message that it is "Getting an IP address" but never connects without a router reboot. This is a big pain.
I want to configure a blackberry bold 9900 with v7 pack 2290 to access a wifi network with radius server authentification. But when i looking into the security type parameters, i 've not the PEAP option.
While in random wifi zones, no problems. However, while i'm at home using my own network, all of a sudden i can't access the play store. says 'No Connection, Retry'.... Problem started months ago, i google it and see people with similar issue but none of their fixes worked for me.
I recently changed to EE and wanted to add my new number to iMesssage, so I looked on apple support and found the solution so i did it and reset my network settings but now when I try connect to my home WiFi it wont work?
My LG-D820 (Nexus 5) has no network signal even after changing firmwares. (Full fastboot wipe and reinstall)
My question is, why would a device able to detect the simcard but yet, cant receive any bars from the network provider towers? I can guarantee it isnt the sim because I've tried several others in it, same issue.
I have a new 5c iPhone but can not connect to my Wi-Fi Home Wireless Network as my new phone does not recognize my password. How can I change the password and move on?
So I received my Nexus 6P and yesterday I activated it on Project Fi. When I got to work today, I tried connecting to the same wifi point I always have, but when I try to connect it says "Connected, no Internet"I switched to Project Fi from T-Mobile, where I was using a Note 4 and I was able to connect and use the network yesterday on the N4 w/ T-Mo, but can't today with the 6P and Fi.
I normally have my Nexus 5 phone WiFi connected to my home network and have Data turned off.
If I move out of range of my network obviously the phone's WiFi connection drops.
When I return to within range of my home network my phone doesn't automatically reconnect to my home network. I have to press the power button on the phone to wake up the screen and within a couple of seconds the phone connects to my home network.
When I first got the phone I never had this issue. The phone would reconnect to my home network even though the screen hadn't been woken up.
When I got the phone it was on an older version of Android .. before Android version 5.
I have run the phone in Safe Mode and the automatic reconnect still doesn't occur.
So on Lollipop 5.1.1 should the reconnect to WiFi be automatic ?
Nexus 6 periodically not automatically connecting to established wifi connections? When this happens I have to power off and then when powering back on the connection is resumed.
WiFi was working fine until 10am this morning, since then i have been unable to connect, when i enter the password to connect, it shows as saved, then shows as 'connecting, followed by 'Authentication problem', there is nothing wrong with the router etc. as work colleagues are using the same WiFi and it's fine for them, i have tried using the Sony PC Companion, it said my phone is up to date, so i done a repair/restore, i am still receiving the message "Authentication problem" when trying to connect to the WiFi.
I bought a Nexus 5 about 15 days back. I am very happy with the phone - except for the fact that I face difficulty connecting to my Home Network in particular. My Windows Laptop, My wife's iPhone and iPAD connect to the same WIFI almost instantaneously. However, my Nexus 5 phone keeps saying "Obtaining IP Address" endlessly. At times, it says "Weak Signal - Cannot Reconnect" and gives up. However, all other mobile devices show that the signal strength is good. the phone does connect to the WiFi after sometime by itself.
I do not have this problem when I am at my office. It connects immediately to the WiFi in my office.
The Router setting at home is as follows : Mode : AP Band : 2.4GHz (B+G+N) Channel Width : 20/40 Mhz Auto Channel Number : 11 - 2462Mhz Broadcast SSID - Enabled WMM - Enabled Authentication - WPA-PSK Cipher Suie - CCMP
I want to know if this is a problem with my phone or if it is the router.
The problem is that whenever I try to connect to a router, I get a message that my phone cant authenticate with it. I am sure the password is typed in correctly and I have tried to restart the router and do a factory reset on my phone. The only way to connect to some routers is to push the wps-button. This is very annoying. When at work, I can connect fine to one of the routers there, but not the others. I cant connect to the router in my home without pressing the wps-button (once that is done, it connects automatically)
Is this a known issue with the xperia phones? And is this a problem that is caused by the phones or is it that the routers may be a little old? I also want to add that my other devices has connected to these networks just fine.
The native google camera app 2.5.052 (2005148-30) stops frequently. "Cannot connect to the camera" error pops up. I have to restart the mobile to use the cam.
For some reason, a error keeps popping up every time I connect to my home wifi. The phone connects perfectly fine and it says it is connected, but whenever I attempt to use the internet nothing will load at all. The wifi bars are there and are full, but nothing works. In wifi settings it says it is connected. On all of the other desktops, laptops, and mobile devices in the house the same wifi works perfectly fine. So, I have come to the conclusion that it must be something having to do with the phone.
The thing is that whenever I go inside the range a previously accessed wi-fi network, my N5 will only connect to it when I turn the screen on. For example, when I come to my office or my house, it's only when I grab the phone and turn the screen on that I see the device picking up the connection. That's regardless of how long I've been there and how long has the phone been inactive. It also happens when momentarily going outside the range of the router, like going to the bathroom and back in my office. I was told that it's because the phone goes into deep sleep quickly and stops scanning for connections.
I installed the release Marshmallow factory image yesterday - MRA58K - userdata and cache wiped. I've got a very frustrating Wifi problem which wasn't present in Lollipop - connecting to Wifi via the quick settings tile is really slow.
If I toggle Wifi off and on again via the quick settings tile it takes anything between 10-15 seconds for the wifi connection to re-establish.
If I toggle Wifi off and on from the Settings --> Wifi menu the wifi connection is re-established almost instantly as expected.
Both toggle methods were almost instant in LMY48M connecting to the same router/wireless network.
I've tried various combinations of advanced wifi options, i.e. different frequency bands options (my network is 2.4ghz, so have tried 2.4ghz and automatic), network notification toggled on/off, have tried with mobile data enabled/disabled - same behavior.

Will root later on to see if logcat shows anything.
I just got a replacement iphone 4s and am having trouble connecting to my home network. When I type in my password it says it cannot connect to the network. Before I got my replacement, my previous 4s was able to connect to the same network.
