Jul 1, 2015I picked up my phone to make a call and noticed it looked VERY different, different splash screen, apps lined up differently, etc.
When I went to look for an app, I noticed they were all gone. Somehow, my phone reset itself and I lost everything -- all installed apps, phone lists, everything.
Is there anyway to go back to a state that existed before this? FWIW, I live in Guangzhoung...and the only thing I did that was even remotely different was I reloaded the phone (china unicomm).

Oct 8, 2015So I downloaded Android 6 from Googles site and manually updated and of course the phone was wiped! And today I remembered I had a lot of photos from our vacation and of the kids (when my youngest was born etc) and whatnot that got lost as well Is there any way to recover these? I've tried looking for guides on here, but the ones i found that were kind of relevant are old ones and links to files that was needed is dead.

Nov 22, 2014Like others, I tried the software update, and then my phone constantly got stuck at the four little circles at start up. I followed some instructions I found on AndroidPit:
1. From a powered off state, press the Power button to start your Nexus 5. When you see the Google logo press and hold the Volume Down key and release when the device vibrates.
2. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Menu and press the Power button to select. This will bring you to a screen with an Android on its back.
3. Hold the Volume Up key for 5 secs then release and a new menu will appear.
4. First off, you can use the volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition. This will cause your phone to restart. once this is done, re-do the previous steps to get back to the same screen (the one that Wipe Cache Partition was on).
5. Highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset and select using the Power key. Scroll down to Yes, Delete All Data and press the Power button again to select.
6. Your Nexus 5 will now wipe your data and reformat.
7. On the next screen hit the Power button to select Reboot System Now.
It has been 40 minutes now and it's stuck on 'Formatting /data'. Is this normal?
I've only had this phone for a couple of months and it was functioning perfectly until now I haven't rooted it or anything.

Dec 3, 2013I want to do a factory reset on my Nexus 5 but I don't want any backups/sync'd data to be restored (i.e. I want to completely start over as if I just got the device). I know how to do the factory reset but I'm not sure how to avoid any automatic restores or outdated/unwanted backup data.
Also, I noticed that in the Play Store apps that I no longer have installed still show up as installed. In fact a couple of apps that were never installed on my Nexus 5 (they were installed on an Android tablet that I no longer have a couple years ago) still show up. Is there a way to clear this/start over?

May 26, 2015I previously saved the game 'Lost Echo' on my SD card. Yesterday I did a hard reset of my Lumia 1520 (without erasing my SD card) and after that, the game is no longer on my app list. When I go to the store to install it, it attempts to install a fresh copy of the game instead.
I plugged my phone to my PC and tried searching inside the SD card but found nothing. However, I can tell that the app is still inside the SD card as there is more than 1GB of 'other' files when I checked storage sense, which definitely must be the files for the app.

Originally I stored music, videos, Whatsapp media, Titanium backups and so on on my external memory card. But this option is now gone. Is there any way to create a new partition as external sd card wich is recognized by apps and is not affected by hard resets (which is mostly necessary for custom rom updates) ? Aug 8, 2014Yesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
