I've had my Nexus 6 for 3+ months and have had no problems until today when my phone would randomly reboot. Sometime it would come back on quickly and other times it would go through the long process of optimizing apps. The phone has had 2 OTA software updates since I purchased it so I decided to do a factory data reset.
I have not experienced any random reboots since the factory data reset but now I am unable to connect to WiFi. When I click on the WiFi in the quick setting menu, the phone is unable to identify any available networks. When I click on More Settings, the screen says Turning WiFi on but nothing ever happens.
I disabled Google Search on my Nexus 5 and now it is stuck on the booting screen.
After looking around on here, I found that part of the launcher is contained in Google Search.
Is it because of my carrier, T-Mobile, that I do not have a reboot option anymore?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this. Everytime I reboot the phone, it resets the battery stats. It'll say something like "1 min 30s on battery" even though I last charged the phone hours ago. Is this a bug in Android 4.4? I never had this issue on my Nexus 4.
FYI, i'm unlocked and rooted, running ART as my run time environment.
I updated my rooted 32 gb nexus 5 to the latest 5.1.1. It was not easy and I ran into all sorts of hiccups that left me phoneless for a couple of days.My wife also has a rooted 32 gb nexus 5 and needs to upgrade. I don't want to go through all the headaches I had with mine, so, can I safely transfer my android to her sd card and just restore it on hers? Will that work? Or is there something that is unique in each nexus 5 phone and android?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.4 yesterday (graduated from a 3 year old Samsung Ace so I am a little overwhelmed by the fancy new phone!!). I can't seem to find a call log anywhere? When I hit the phone symbol, it brings up the 'speed dial' screen with the most frequently called contacts, but there doesn't seem to be the typical call history with calls made, missed calls etc....or at least I can't find it!! I missed a few calls today and after the notification disappeared I can't find the numbers again!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the OTA Android 6 update.All seems fine, except today I wanted to copy some of my photos off the phone and put them onto my PC. But when I connect the phone to the pc all it shows is the icon of the Nexus 5 but does not show any folders nor files! Any hidden setting somewhere that I have to enable or is there something else I need to do? BTW, I have my phone unlocked (not rooted) when I connected the phone so it is unlocked while connected to the PC via the USB cable.

It's random and occurs in all apps and I checked for virus with a scanner and it doesn't say anything. Idk what I clicked that might have caused this bug. Ads usually are games that lead me to the play store and not anything explicit...

I've just now experienced this in the course of fixing another issue.
Normally in spite of how much i change ROMS whenever I set time manually and uncheck network derived time the date/ time maintains across restarts, now it doesnt.
What I did so far:
clean ROM not dirty flashed
switching between stock OMNI and Minux OMNI
all combinations of option in date/ time settings while
Each and everytime after reset the date time is 13 Aug 1970. Even if is set to automatic that date briefly appears before a connection to the net is made.
How to keep the phone speaker on all the time? Probably 95% of my calls, I use the speaker. Would be nice not to have to reach up and turn the speaker on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I updated my phone to CyanogenMod(CM)13.0 which went fine. However when I rebooted the phone a popup came up the entire time telling me that google play services stopped working. In an attempt to fix it, I accidently removed google play services, causing a bunch of trouble at the moment.
I went to the CM Wiki and first I downloaded the "nano" variant of the GAPPS, trying to fix everything in the end. I put the file on my phone and tried to install it via recovery. This message came up however.Insufficnt storage space available in system partition. You may want to use a smaller GAPPS package or consider removing some apps using GAPPS-config ( bla bla) Error code 70. As far as I can see, it is able to mount /system and /data, but the partition does not seem to have enough space left, at least so it says.
After that I tried the same with the "pico" variant, which also gave the same result. Pretty strange for a package that small.So after taking a backup of important files I tried to wipe data/factory reset (was going to reinstall everything), to which I got an error "data wipe failed", which is correct since I can still boot in CM13 after that. So I'm a bit in trouble here. I cannot seem to wipe my phone entirely, nor am I able to reinstall GAPPS due to this error 70. Could this be a permissions problem somehow? Things I have done so far to check what the problem could be:
- I've checked the space left on the /system partition which is 501 MB. Should be enough I guess?
- I've checked the /system partition for errors via adb shell while the phone was in recovery mode, which came out clean.
My nexus 5 sometimes shows 1hours 40 minutes which is the exact time it should charge from 0 to 100 but sometimes it shows 3 hrs sometimes 2hr sometimes 6 hrs.I have a sony 5000 mah power bank. when i connect my nexus 5 to that with nexus 5 usb cable it still shows the same problem. I have connected a couple of chargers but still same problem.

I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got some random reboots after upgrading on stock Lollipop 5.1 on my Nexus 5.I've used Android 5.0.1 without any reboots or problem, but after upgrading on 5.1 I'm facing many random reboots when I switch from an app (like a game or Hangouts) using Recents or Home button from NavBar (it also happens randomly when I'm using my phone, like writing a message on Hangouts).The reboots I'm talking about are not "soft" but "hard", because bootloader's logo (Google) appears and restarts my phone, so it is caused by Kernel Panic (as you'll see in my last_kmsg) and they occured on both stock and custom rom.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got a nexus 5 running lollipop (5.0.1) and the phone will randomly shutdown or reboot. I've tried a factory reset as well as clearing the cache after the reset. That did not solve the problem. I'm hoping its not a harware issue but given that I don't have a single app other than the default google apps installed.
View 14 Replies View RelatedHad my Nexus 5 for about a month now, and have loved it till this morning, it decided to just shut off (full battery too) and i tried to turn it on and it is now just constantly starting up to the "Google" splash screen then shutting off.
Sometimes it gets to the the 4 color circles then shuts off.
Just now got through to start up and the screen flashed on and off and by the time i got to settings crashed and shut off again. I can't even get it to stop trying to turn on!
Just got my 5.1.1 patch over air and next time I reboot the device, only Google and Android logos greet me, after that only black screen (but OS boots, because I can take screen shots of the black screen. Only option is to press power long and shut the device down. Cache wipe did not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery so often, my Nexus 5 (stock, unrooted and un-rommed) will freeze (normally when playing either Castle Clash or Asphalt 8) and i'll have to force reboot. This is not a problem. It happens.
My issue is when it powers back on, Wi-Fi will be on, even though it wasnt on before the force reboot. This has only been happening since 4.4.3. While it's not a major issue, it is a minor annoyance. Ive checked my Wi-Fi settings and everything is normal. Is there anything i can do to sort this?
The ota update notification appeared last week and it was downloaded and verified.
Decided to update, so fully charged, updated all my apps and back up photos, contacts etc. Also wiped the cache partition.
When I rebooted after wipeing cache the update notification appeared as usual and I selected restart and install. Counted down from 10-0, then got stuck on rebooting now... Phone still functioning as normal. So powered down and manually rebooted, ota notification not appearing anymore but the update still available via settings>system update and still hangs on rebooting now.
I have a flash usb memory I used all the time w/ my nexus 5, and ever since upgrading to 6.0, the os complains that the usb drive is corrupted. It offers to fix it by erase and formatting, however it fails, and the problem persists. Stickmount no longer works, and there's no way to access my usb. I believe the usb still works in recovery...
