I have installed Android M one month ago and in the last two days my phone started to reboot at anytime. When I'm using it, like in a call or browsing with google chrome, just reboot...
I've had my Nexus 6 for 3+ months and have had no problems until today when my phone would randomly reboot. Sometime it would come back on quickly and other times it would go through the long process of optimizing apps. The phone has had 2 OTA software updates since I purchased it so I decided to do a factory data reset.
I have not experienced any random reboots since the factory data reset but now I am unable to connect to WiFi. When I click on the WiFi in the quick setting menu, the phone is unable to identify any available networks. When I click on More Settings, the screen says Turning WiFi on but nothing ever happens.
I just noticed this. Everytime I reboot the phone, it resets the battery stats. It'll say something like "1 min 30s on battery" even though I last charged the phone hours ago. Is this a bug in Android 4.4? I never had this issue on my Nexus 4.
FYI, i'm unlocked and rooted, running ART as my run time environment.
im using minimalOs as a rom , no modification everything is stock but keep getting lags and the phone does not respond at all the only way to go is a long press on the power button to reboot. i've been experiencing the same issue with many lollipop roms even the factory one is there any solution or hint to shed some light.
I was recently messing with the different lock screen security options possible however I noticed that I can no longer go back to "Swipe" to unlock. Why this is? That and "none" are grayed out in the settings (see screen shot). how to get myself back to swipe to unlock?
This problem came up this morning. Anytime I do a search on Google Now, I get that message, either on my Nexus 5 or Nexus 7, but doing a search through Chrome browser works fine.
I've been using my phone tonight and the apps were as normal where I scrolled left and right for the apps. I placed it on charge and when taking it off I went back into the app menu for something and noticed that I had a search bar at the top and had to scroll up and down. Its also seems to have kept my last 4 used apps in a separate drawer at the top.
When I tap the google search bar on my nexus 5 homescreen I get a large white drop down with all my recent searches. Is there a way to clear this history? I have already logged into google.com/history and cleared all history on that site, but it still shows on that drop down.
The ONLY way I am able to get rid of them is by manually holding down EACH result and tapping "remove from search history". Is there a clear all option somewhere?
Ever since activating my Nexus 6P the Google app has set itself to have safe search on and will not let me turn it off. From the Google settings page on from a browser it shows that it should be off for my account. I cannot change this for some reason.
I'm wondering if it is possible to just remove the search bar without disabling Google now? I use the swipe to the right feature on stock launcher and would like to retain that functionality.
Ever since Tuesday morning on 10/28 Google Search app has been crashing repeatedly over and over again in the background. I did not think much of it first few times, but then yesterday and today it started becoming more frequent. It seems to be happening almost every hour.
So I started doing some trouble shooting and caught the app running at over 500 MB of RAM!! Then of course it shortly after crashed. I have attached a screen shot of that, in addition to battery stats from overnight when I was sleeping, so everyone can see how often it is occurring as well. I have reported at least 8 of the crashes to the Google report option that comes up.
So far I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, and have tried clearing the cache on the Google Search app. Still has made absolutely no difference. Would like to try to avoid resetting the phone if possible.
My nexus 5 is having some issues. Every time I go on google, and type something in my screen bounces back to a blank search. For example, I go on google and type in something like, i don't know, car and driver, and then click search, the screen will search but then revert back all of a sudden to the home screen. I'll do it 2 or 3 times and then it finally works. Have any of you had this issue where the screen bounces back to a blank search?
Unlike most people who were looking forward to it, I was dreading this Hangouts/SMS merger.
One of the things I have not been able to figure out is how to search within my SMS messages. The old SMS app did this easily at the push of one on screen button.
Is this no longer a feature or am I just not looking in the right place?
I've looked around but couldn't find anything. I've noticed that when I change my DPI in the build.prop the Google Search bar is gone from the top of the recent app list. I've changed my DPI on every device I've owned, and this is the first time I've noticed this issue.
I've also noticed that once in a while it does appear, but I don't exactly know what's triggering it, and it will disappear the next time I go to the recents menu.
I'm most comfortable at 500 right now. I've tried 520, 480, and 420 (what the N5X is at). Everyone of them seems to have this issue. I really can't stand keeping it at 560.
I'm setting up my Nexus 6P and see this option that says I can transfer stuff from my old android to my new one but when I open Google App and go to settings I cannot find anything called "search for nearby device"...where is it? Also, is this feature in just Lollipop and higher?
I'm on stock device and I thought my device in multitasking view had a Google search at the top right? It seems to have gone away. Am I correct it's usually there right? Screencap shown..
i remember seeing something like that on this forum before. it was a nice, clean looking home screen and it didn't have the google search bar on the top.
I've got some random reboots after upgrading on stock Lollipop 5.1 on my Nexus 5.I've used Android 5.0.1 without any reboots or problem, but after upgrading on 5.1 I'm facing many random reboots when I switch from an app (like a game or Hangouts) using Recents or Home button from NavBar (it also happens randomly when I'm using my phone, like writing a message on Hangouts). The reboots I'm talking about are not "soft" but "hard", because bootloader's logo (Google) appears and restarts my phone, so it is caused by Kernel Panic (as you'll see in my last_kmsg) and they occured on both stock and custom rom.
I've got a nexus 5 running lollipop (5.0.1) and the phone will randomly shutdown or reboot. I've tried a factory reset as well as clearing the cache after the reset. That did not solve the problem. I'm hoping its not a harware issue but given that I don't have a single app other than the default google apps installed.
Had my Nexus 5 for about a month now, and have loved it till this morning, it decided to just shut off (full battery too) and i tried to turn it on and it is now just constantly starting up to the "Google" splash screen then shutting off.
Sometimes it gets to the the 4 color circles then shuts off.
Just now got through to start up and the screen flashed on and off and by the time i got to settings crashed and shut off again. I can't even get it to stop trying to turn on!
After upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1 on nexus 5 the contact search seems to have stopped working. I upgraded using nrt without erasing user data. Everything else seems to be working fine.
Just got my 5.1.1 patch over air and next time I reboot the device, only Google and Android logos greet me, after that only black screen (but OS boots, because I can take screen shots of the black screen. Only option is to press power long and shut the device down. Cache wipe did not work.
