View 10 RepliesI'm wondering if it is possible to just remove the search bar without disabling Google now? I use the swipe to the right feature on stock launcher and would like to retain that functionality.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi remember seeing something like that on this forum before. it was a nice, clean looking home screen and it didn't have the google search bar on the top.
is this possible? if so, does it require rooting?
Ever since activating my Nexus 6P the Google app has set itself to have safe search on and will not let me turn it off. From the Google settings page on from a browser it shows that it should be off for my account. I cannot change this for some reason.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've looked around but couldn't find anything. I've noticed that when I change my DPI in the build.prop the Google Search bar is gone from the top of the recent app list. I've changed my DPI on every device I've owned, and this is the first time I've noticed this issue.
I've also noticed that once in a while it does appear, but I don't exactly know what's triggering it, and it will disappear the next time I go to the recents menu.
I'm most comfortable at 500 right now. I've tried 520, 480, and 420 (what the N5X is at). Everyone of them seems to have this issue. I really can't stand keeping it at 560.
I'm setting up my Nexus 6P and see this option that says I can transfer stuff from my old android to my new one but when I open Google App and go to settings I cannot find anything called "search for nearby device"...where is it? Also, is this feature in just Lollipop and higher?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there not a way to remove the horizontal Google search bar from all, or even some of my screens? All the other widgets and items on our main screens can be long pressed and removed, but this one just opens no matter how I press it.
It is odd because there is an option to add it as it is showing with the other widgets in the widget menu, but no way to remove it. I just find it an annoyance that you can't move it or delete it. I had the same search bar on my S3 and could delete it.
I have a droid Maxx turbo and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the white Google search bar strip at the top of every screen the home screen and any other screen you slide over to because I like to use pictures from my wallpaper and the white bar gets in the way of some of the pictures I put up...

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 is having some issues. Every time I go on google, and type something in my screen bounces back to a blank search. For example, I go on google and type in something like, i don't know, car and driver, and then click search, the screen will search but then revert back all of a sudden to the home screen. I'll do it 2 or 3 times and then it finally works. Have any of you had this issue where the screen bounces back to a blank search?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this is not possible on the N6 and curious if you can on the 6P.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I enjoy doing a little theming as small projects. Currently, I am working on changing the app drawer button and animating it once it's pressed. I have the stock launcher decompiled (Velvet.apk) and have found the app drawer image therein that I need to modify/change. However, there are four of them listed and each with different sizes/dimension. The dimensions found were 84x84, 56x56, 112x112, and 168x168. Which one of those dimensions portray the actual size of the app drawer button on the home screen?
Side note, I have Xposed installed which modifies my framework. I was surprised I was able to install my framework-res.apk in Apktool and decompile the system app without issues. If I edit my velvet.apk and replace the stock one with my modified one will I encounter issues since Xposed is installed?
I have the setting checked but its not detecting the voice command.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have set up "OK Google" to recognize my voice from screen off.
This works great, however, when I use it, it requires me to enter my PIN/fingerprint to show the results.
Is there any way to turn this off? I have to do that every time.
And as far as security reasons, the phone won't respond to anyone else, so it's not like someone would be able to "OK Google" and unlock my phone, unless they sound exactly like me.
So I have verizon and I'm using a nexus 6p. My phone died and I charged it and booted it back up.Problem was is I forgot my password. So since I'm rooted i went into twrp and tried my password there. it worked there but not on regular boot up. So i went into wipe and wiped everything. now when i go to reboot my phone it is stuck on the google logo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've followed instructions in from this thread [URL] .... and flashed the supersu from the recovery without reading not to flash. Now I'm stuck at the google splash screen. How to recover from this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDamnit. Something went wrong and I don't know how to get out of it.
I used Nexus Root Toolkit 2.0.7. Bootloader Unlock went just fine. Root went wrong (I think). It just sits there at the white Google logo. It never goes to the animated loading portion of boot up.
So, I stopped the process. Then went to select Flash Stock + Unroot to hopefully start over. It still stays at the white Google logo. Instructions say it could take up to 20 minutes, but I waited for about 30 and nothing happened.
So I entered Recovery. Formatted/Cleared all data and started fresh with the unlocked boot loader. I was able to flash TWRP and actually flash a custom ROM. It loaded, but the phone boot looped when I tried to flash a custom Kernel.
Fine. I went to restore a backup I made before flashing the Kernel and it boot looped. Restoring the backup did nothing and I couldn't load anything.
Loaded up Nexus Root Toolkit again, tried to root and it just stays on the white Google logo. Tried Flash Stock + Unroot and it still sits at the Google logo.
WTF. I've been doing this for a long ass time now.
So I thought I can use "OK Google" when screen is off and it's not on charger. I can get it working on lockscreen and when it's plugged in but off the charger screen off I can't get it working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I tried to root my 6P with the Nexus Root toolkit , first I unlocked the bootloader, that went well . After that I tried to root it but my build number wasn't there (MDB08L) So I researched if that would be a problem and a couple of people said they followed the same instructions as with the MDB08K build and it worked just fine on theirs so I proceeded.
I selected the "any build" from the options on the toolkit and it seemed to be going well, I followed the instructions , flashed the files on twrp and from there I rebooted and it got stuck on a bootloop... :/ so then I tried to use the toolkit to fix the bootloop and selected the MDB08K and after it ran and finished it isn't exactly bootlooping but it is now stuck on the black Google logo and does nothing ...

View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I turn my GPS constantly back on but on battery saving mode. Have it when I use Google Maps and 17 high accuracy. View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got my nexus 5 yesterday and was playing with it. I decided to remove the favorites tray, thinking i wouldn't need it. It is the icon labeled Google on the left lower corner that contained the stock Google apps like Gmail, Google drive, etc.
So now i want to restore the tray to my home screen, but i cant find it in my app drawer.
I tapped a word in an article and it brought up the chrome touch to search at the bottom. I brought it up to see the search result. Chrome then crashed on me. I opened chrome again and touch to search no longer works and it's not listed in the settings menu either! Why did it just disappear like that?? My chrome is up to date.

This question is not specific to the Nexus 6P, but that is the phone I carry. I add 2 or 3 phone numbers (telemarketers) to my blocked call list every week. When a telemarketer calls, I
(1) hang up,
(2) go to the call log,
(3) tap the call record to expand it,
(4) tap "call details", then
(5) select "block number."
That's all very simple. The issue is that now that I have dozens or hundreds of blocked numbers , when I miss a call, there's no easy way to see if the missed call was from a number on my blocked list. A missed call from a blocked number looks the same as a missed call from an un-blocked number (unless they're in my contact list). I can scroll through (but not search or sort) my blocked call list by
(1) opening phone app,
(2) tapping "Settings" in the primary menu, then
(3) tapping "Call Blocking."
This presents a list of all of the numbers that I've ever blocked, but I can't search it and I can't sort it.
in a perfect world, the Call Log would somehow show a flag for missed calls from blocked numbers so that I don't have to search the list to see if the number is blocked. In an even more perfect world, a tap on that number would take me to a detail page showing all the times that number has called and been blocked. Finally, the blocked number list would be both searchable and sortable. I think that most/all of this could be accomplished by a 3d party app - for which I'd gladly pay five bucks. There are lots of call blocking apps on the market, but they all appear to operate separately from the Android native call blocking function.
