Got a message this morning that there was a security policy update to download. I'm thinking this is to resolve the keyboard issue? Am I able to take the update at all if I'm rooted (but stock)? Will it break anything? Sprint version, so I don't think it's the 5.1.1 update.
View 8 RepliesI recently got an LG Xenon GR500 through ROGERS however I cannot install my own apps or games, ringtones etc as Rogers has locked all these features in the hopes that people will then buy from them. I was wondering if unlocking the phone will remove Rogers' Security policy from my phone so I can then do all this stuff. Is there anybody that has tried something like this before, perhaps even on a different phone?

I have two wireless routers (different SSIDs and channels), a Netgear WPNT834 Rangemax 240 (IP4) and a Netgear WNDR4000 (IP4/IP6).When both are setup in AP configuration, both produce the "violation of security policy" errors.If the WNDR4000 is setup as a wireless router with IP4 setup and IP6 set as automatic the errors are produced as usual by the photons.If the IP6 in the WNDR4000 is disabled in wireless router configuation the errors stop.There seems to be no duplicate packets presented to the Motorla Mobilty R910 router.Maybe these "violation of security policy" packets are not created properly or duplicated by the photon's IP6 drivers when dealing with IP4 only wireless routers?Perhaps this is the source of the photons wireless instability noted by many others?Of course these packet problems would ideally be confirmed by others with even better equipment.
A message appeared on my husband's phone to make a security update or lose the security on the phone. I started the download which took forever. We were visiting relatives at the time and did not keep a check on it. When we got home we found it had used up most of our data which created a data usage warning. We want to delete the download without installing, but there is no place to do this.

- backup
- wipe handheld
- replace policy.bin file
- restore
The phone works just fine. The policy appears to be gone, and I can set the security options as I want. However, when I start my Blackberry Desktop, I get an error saying "error reading policy file. Please contact your Administrator". Any idea what the issue is and how to correct it?
This is on a rooted S5 with Alliance ROM 4.4.2. I keep getting the notification to do a security update. Is there a way to permanently turn it off?

Then it will take you to a phone encryption screen and the encryption reboots the phone, but then keeps looping. I do have an exchange account and our company requires to have encryption on the phone. I just installed the Nine Exchange and it is working without any issues, but how can I fix the other way I access email?

On my iphone4, I cant download any more apps until I have updated my security info. They automatically take me to a security info page, there are 5 blank questions i must fill in e.g. whatwas first job I had. but every time I select answer it refreshes the page, so i can never finish updating the security info and thus i cannot download/install any more apps on my iphone.It is very weird because I already have ONE security question on my apple ID, so why do I need more?And the fact it refreshes etc worries me that im being hacked/a virus of some sort I cannot change my security info anywhere except on my phone it seems?I tried on my apple ID, but its different, as thats not the same format, it is only one Q, whereas i was asked 5 on my iphone?

View 1 Replies View Relatedive just updated my nokia x3 but when i updated it ovi suite restored my phone using an old backup file. this backup file held a diffrent security code which ive forgotten. ive spoke to nokia and the care point in sailsbury. the repair point says i shouldnt be charged for the repair. im awaing a responce from nokia, about them charging me if i use the repair option on the website. I dont feel i should pay as ive followed the instructions that ovi suite gave me. i think the repair should be free. i was really shocked after the update and then my phone asked me 4 the code. i thought that the nokia software updates were fully tested before realsed to be installed into customers phones. i cant belive it

after updating to Belle the phone wants me to enter the security code on every start up. But: the code I used with Anna is no longer valid (I am absolutely sure I did not enter a wrong code) and "12345" does not work either. This looks like a bug in Belle because after entering some digits at random the phone tells me "wrong code" but starts working.

1. I'm assuming Google is going to break systemless root. Does this update do that or does it still work?

My Nexus 5 is rooted and in the past OTA updates have always worked just fine. I don't use a custom recovery. However, the November Android security update fails. I was thinking this was because BBS was installed as a system app. After uninstalling that it still doesn't work. The only other thing I use is Adaway, so I reverted back to the original hostfile and also uninstalled BusyBox. Still no dice. Or is it perhaps Marshmallow OTA updates simply won't work if the phone is rooted? How come in the past I've been able to do OTA updates with my phone being rooted?
What can I do to get the update? Does that mean I have to basically lose my user data every month to do an OTA update now and reroot my device

I am still getting used to the phone and there are some minor things are are bugging me.
A big nuisance for me is the backup password with the fingerprint security feature - I don't like having to use a backup password that is a mixture of letters and characters.
If my fingerprint hand is occupied it makes opening the phone difficult.
