I know this is probably a stupid question and I am overlooking something but I am trying to turn my facebook interval sync to "never". I can't seem to find this within app settings or anywhere in the app. Is this no longer available with Lollipop and do I just need to uncheck all of the notification boxes? I did that but I still see my facebook app with notifications that someone has commented, liked or done something else without me opening the app.
On the s4 i had when i synced my photos from facebook to my phone it always showed my photos in albums, Now on my S5 it shows photos from facebook as a whole which is frustrating searching thru 2000 photos to find the one i want.
I have noticed an issue with the Galaxy S5 that apparently only occurs with the Verizon variant. I work for a place called Wireless Advocates, we are the cell phone kiosk inside of Costco. I'm asking about this because I've had three customers come in to ask about this background data issue.
I'm not sure what triggers this issue but when I try opening up google play I get the "Background Data Disabled : Google Play Store Needs background data to be Enabled" error. It then gives you the ability to either quit or enable the data. If you press enable it takes you to the account screen in settings.
When I go to Data usage the option to "restrict background data" is greyed out. You can't even select it and it isn't checkmarked either. Just to clarify, accessing the internet and other things on the phone work perfectly fine. It's just the use of Google Play that is having issues. I called Samsung customer care and they aren't aware of this issue at all. Also note that force stopping google play, play services, removing the google accounts and adding them back and rebooting the phone haven't solved it. After the reboot the phone will appear fine and then a box that says "Restricting background data".
I upgraded to Galaxy 6 from a 5 and somehow I had profile pictures from FB sync with profile pic (avatar) with my messages. How do I sync to this new system??
I want to sync my contacts photos with Facebook. In the past I used HaxSync but it's not compatible with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 . Is there other apps or a way to use Facebook contacts picture for my contacts?
A week ago all of a sudden i cant seem to sync my fb to my s6 edge contacts, when i checked the fb app settings, if you keep scrolling down the facebook contacts sync is missing from the app. I'm using an s6 as well and its there and everything is working
On the app icons for Facebook and Email, I have orange circles with a number in them showing new emails or Facebook notifications. I want to make the orange FB notifications DISAPPEAR. My belief is that since I see that orange # show up so frequently, with every new comment to a FB post, that my device must be pushing notifications and checking FB every 10 minutes, wearing down my battery. So I would like to end that.
I have already: 1.Gone to App Settings > Refresh Interval and said NEVER 2.Gone to App Settings > Notifications and choose INACTIVE 3.Gone to Account Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push and UNCHECKED everything I have also gone to Device Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Facebook and UNCHECKED Show Notifications.
The same orange circle with number of new emails show on my email icon, but I don't mind that so much. However, if I can disable it, perhaps I can find my way to disable on Facebook.
I am having samsung galaxy s2. I am getting error notifications from facebook sync on notification page. It is continuously sending every 15-20 minutes and i am unable to stop it.I tried clearing cache, deleted the sync account, phone restart etc..... but still its not helping. Please refer the attached screenshot, u can see the notification i am getting.
Every time I get a text message I also receive it in an email to my gmail that is associated with my google account. I have looked all over the internet and have found instructions on how to turn off the sync feature on s4, s3, etc. The s5 is completely different and does not have an easy "Text Sync" check box to turn the feature off. How do I get this turned off!!!
I 'm using Xperia X10i. I m experiencing a problem where the background display( Note: not the flash light) is not turning off. This makes the usage of battery very high and leads to shutdown of my mobile after sometime. Eventhough if I manually turnoff the display(background light) after few minutes, it getting turned on. Note: I 've set the background light to be on for 15 seconds in the settings menu.

Go to HOME screen, swipe down from top to reveal actions and click on SETTINGS WHEEL in upper right corner. Under settings click on ACCOUNTS under Personal and your accounts should be displayed. Click on MORE (3 vertical dots) in the top right and "Turn on auto sync" should be displayed.
I have my phone configured to use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync which retrieves emails, calendar & tasks.I only want the calendar to be retrieved and not the emails.I can't see a way to do this, although my previous HTC Hero on Android 2.1 was able to do this.
My home button is very tempermental. Took it into the store and they showed me how to turn off apps running in background and that helped for a while. Now I have to touch it upwards of 20 times to get it to work.
I am using 2 imap accounts within the messaging application but the emails are nto being pushed to my device (the problem described in this thread. I also rised an ticked to the motorola support but the surprisingly didn't helped. Yesterday I found the "Accounts and Sync Settings" application in my phone and as I checked it there, I found that my email accounts are listed there but the synchronisation settings for them is set to "OFF" which may be the reason why is the push not working.
I have a new T-Mobile S6 Edge and love the phone, but one thing I have not figured out is why I still get background mobile data usage even though I have disabled mobile data and set "restrict background data". Both tuiService and OS services are downloading approximately 100K at a time periodically over mobile data throughout the day even though I have a wifi connection.
It doesn't seem to properly work with background sync. I have an action set up so that when I plug it in to charge my phone, it is supposed to turn background sync and wifi on. The wifi comes on, but the sync does not. I have to manually turn it on.
Running the latest Official ICS version on my RAZR MAXX since the Soak Test for about a week now.SmartActions version 3.1.5.1.2, and System version 6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.I have a the following:
-Triggers: Timeframe: Night (9pm-8am), Charging: Any source, -Actions: Ring volume: Silent, Background Sync: Off, VIP caller mode: one person
I have woke up the last two morning finding my LED Light blinking that I had messages.I woke up well before my Night time frame was over, so this should not have received any emails since I had background sync off.I could still see the SmartAction symbol in the top notification bar. This was working just find on Gingerbread.
i just tried to check my emails on my phone, as i reached for it and slid the screen up everything scrambled with a yellow then blue then total black image of my background, and now the phone screen will not turn on at all. My keyboard still lights up and my green light is still blinking but i can not see anything on my screen.
I created a smart action that disables data sync when the Maxx is not on a charger. It is an attempt to solve the problem of sporadic massive battery drain. I don't think background apps are running when this occurs, but anyway I want to know if a successful sync can take place while it is enabled only when plugged in to a charger.
I have my work e-mail set up on my corporate sync account. Currently under E-mail settings, E-mail delivery, & folder sync, I would like my sent items to sync in the background as my inbox does. Every time I change it to automatically sync in the background, it reverts back to manual as soon as I leave my e-mail. Is there anyway to force this to sync in the background? Will this be corrected in the upcoming update?
I've done everything that I have read online, and everytime I go to the facebook app settings, it already shows that facebook contact is checked to not sync, yet i have about 500 extra contacts and pointless facebook emails in my phone that I don't want--nor do I want to spend 5 hours doing so to delete them.
I am trying to figure out if there is a way that I can turn off background data/automatic syncing in all of my apps when I'm connected to Wi-Fi. Besides going in to each app and turning off the syncing.
The reason for this is that I'm going to be going on a cruise and the Wi-Fi on the ship is not exactly cheap, so I'd like not to go through a lot of data every time I connect to it because all of my apps decide that they are going to connect.
I have a Nexus 5 running 6.0.
I've read about the "Metered Wi-Fi network" settings, but it doesn't say exactly what it does - it mainly talks about restricting background data on a mobile network, and setting data limits on a mobile network, even though it's supposed to be about Metered Wi-Fi networks.
I have an s5 and I use the the stock texting app, message plus (Verizon). I know how to change the background pic, but it is always dimmer than the original. Not the biggest deal, but is there anyway to make it as bright as the original pic or is it intended to remain a bit dimmer?
I'm trying to test what a black background would look like on my phone. How do I make the background black just to test what it would look like? I want to return to my current wallpaper easily if I don't like it.
