Both on my s6 and my dad's s6 our keyboards are freezing randomly. It will not type and will stay on the screen (even on home screen etc) until the device is locked and unlocked and sometimes it has to be restarted. I am using Google keyboard and dad is Swiftkey so its unlikely to be the actual keyboard app.

Every so often, the keyboard will just close while typing for a few seconds. It disappears completely.
I was using "Swype" and thought it was a problem with that, but after switching keyboards and re-installing them, I realized it's a universal issue. This especially happens in Whatsapp, but I spend 95% of typing time there, so I can't say fairly.
My default keyboard keeps closing in the middle of me typing something.I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S5, Lollipop, using the default keyboard app, like I said. It only really happens in the Chrome browser; I can type just fine in other apps (I had to type this in Memos then copy/paste into Chrome). I've cleared the data & cache multiple times, to no avail.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy M7 keeps randomly freezing while in use. It can happen when using pretty much any app, rarely making a call, texting, on the internet etc. When it freezes it keeps trying to reboot and keeps freezing till I manually shut it down for 10 - 20 minutes then restart it.
Broke down and did a factory reset the other night and tried only installing the bare necessities of apps back on after but problem persisted after a few hours. Warranty is gone so I'm wanting to do all the troubleshooting I can on my own before breaking down and paying for repairs.
I got a new phone. It's Xperia Z2. It's almost new and it is already randomly freezing and rebooting. I've already tried soft resseting, hard resseting, factory data reset and repairing with PC companion.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo i uninstalled the few apps ive downloaded since the 2.3.4 update and still my phone randomly shuts off and sometimes it freezes. Ill go to make a call or scroll through the screens and for no reason the screen turns black and the only thing that i can do is pull down the notification bar... i have to turn it off and back on for it to work again. My husband has the same phone and his does the same thing since the update so i dont think its a app.

Yesterday the battery got really hot and it kept showing resume on the screen. I turned it off and then back on and it was fine. Other times it acts like the back button is being pressed all the time, and sometimes the phone is just unresponsive to anything. Restarting it seems to fix it but only for a short time.

It has just developed a fault and I have no idea what could have caused it so I am hoping someone here will be able to help.The letter 'A' stopped working. The phone keeps going to sleep when the backlight goes out and won't respond to a single key press. To wake it I have to press and hold down any key. This means when I turn the phone off it won't respond to the 'on' button so I have to do a battery pull in order for the phone to boot up itself. Also when I am in a call and the backlight goes off after 2 minutes it wont allow me to hang up unless I wake the phone by holding down the trackpad.The phone seems to be freezing every minute. I have to hold down a key to get it to respond.I have tried the usual to see if it helps but nothing seems to work. (battery pull when phone switched on, wipe handset and updated software).

I have noticed that sometime, when I am in the call logs / browser / menu / messaging screen the screen freezes up. this happens randomly but i have noticed that it happens mostly when I try to unlock the keypad.I am able to move to other open apps while long pressing the home button on the phone but when i try to kill /exit from these apps (by pressing the back button), it gives be a message box as to whether i want to exit the app and when i press "yes", nothing happens.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday, all of a sudden, when texting, imputting text into a chat client or into face book, the applications would freeze after about 2 words max. For instance, I'd type "I'll meet...." and the applications would freeze right after I hit space after "meet," to go onto the next word. In texting, I'd be able to go back to my home screen and then go back to the text and finish it bit by bit, but this wouldn't work for IMO or Facebook. If i stayed on the screens for those apps, they would ask me to force close due to not responding. I've tried keeping my phone on until it dies, keeping it off for an extended period of time, but nothing seems to be working. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it? It really just happened all of the sudden in the middle of the day.

I can get it to work again by going to the lock screen. I'm not sure whether this is something I could fix with a reset or maybe some sort of phone setting, I suspect my phone is faulty. I have restarted it with no change.

I had stock 5.1.1 on it, but if I remember correctly, then it was happening also before 5.1.1, but not 100% what version I had. About 3 weeks ago I had same issue, but then after factory reset it was gone for 2 weeks and last friday again faced with this issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently had intermittent freezing on the phone -- in apps (new and old), on the lock screen, on the launcher. After searching the Web, I did everything recommended--numerous soft resets, a couple of hard resets, consulted Samsung's technical chat room, took the phone to Samsung's local kiosk for a forced software update--nothing worked and the end result was that Samsung said it was a hardware problem and that I needed to send the phone in to Samsung for a look at the hardware. Before doing that, I looked at the system and saw that it did not show any storage information for the SD card. I replaced the SD card and it fixed the problem--the phone is operating just fine. It would have saved me a lot of aggravation if somewhere along the line someone had thought to look at the SD card -- apparently a bad SD card can cause system instability on the S5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past three weeks my S5 has been flickering and the screen will freeze up. When I try to text the screen shakes up and down and I can't type the letters. When I'm on wifi it "seems" to work better, but when I'm not on wifi it's definitely much worse. Any screen that I go into it does this and it's getting worse. Sometimes it will freeze and I just have to leave it for a few minutes before I can do anything on it.

My interface and messaging also feels very laggy at times where I pretty much have to wait for it to respond. I had the S view case on when it was freezing so I've removed that but it didn't work. Do you think i should just return this back to AT&T to try and get this replaced?

i bought the phone new, i had rooted it and put a custom rom on. the custom rom ran fine for months so i doubt that is was a dodgy rom. then one day i just started getting these problems. so i took off the rooted rom, and when the problem was still there i unrooted (if that is the term) and rebooted to factory settings. i still have the problem though.
ok so ive rooted my phone and everything is working fine but i go to freeze and app and my phone gets stuck freezing the app. and i have to hard close titanium. but when i go back into it the app is frozen.

I tried 4 different flashes but same. I tried to hard reset but in freezed on android figure. I flash unikernel so I could enter on recovery meny made hard reset and wipe cache but still same situation. Since the transfer, the messaging app freezes, becomes unresponsive or is incredibly slow (especially in text threads with a lot of messages in this). This means that the keyboard freezes, words/letters won't appear for a while after they have been typed, sometimes the keyboard doesn't appear at all, and the messages thread takes a long time to update.
What can I do about this? How can I stop my messages app freezing so often? I really enjoy the edge, but the fact that I can't message properly (or that it freezes/is so slow) is ruining the phone for me.
When I am texting using messaging it takes a Long time to load previous messages a long time to type or press the send button. It only freeze when I'm using messaging any other app is fine to use it have rebooted the phone turned it on and off and cleared cache anything else I can do before I send the phone back
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I have updated my Samsung S5 to Android v5.0 I am finding that my phone locks up while it is on wireless charge. I have the samsung back cover and also the samsung wireless dock for wireless charging.
It does not happen everytime I charge the phone via wireless charging. But since I've updated which was around two weeks ago. It has done it three times approx.
I just see a dulled Samsung screen and the phone is unresponsive to any buttons including holding down the power button to turn the phone off. I end up having to pull out the battery and replace it again in order to get the phone to work again.
so i havn't rooted my s2 yet and i am wondering if what i have been doing is the same as "freezing" apps. i have advanced task killer and i opened the 'hub' apps and selected to disable them.
