I have question about emergency notifications. An Amber Alert went out today and my entire office got it but me. I saw that the settings for emergency notifications are in the Samsung messaging app. I don't use the messaging app I use Textra would that cause me to not get Amber Alerts
Me and my kids were woken up at 3am this morning by an amber alert on my verizon gs5 running 5.0 ... I can't find the menu for emergency alerts...i have looked in the native msging app settings as well as in the wireless and network menu, but just cant find it....is this yet another lollipop bug or am i just missing something?
I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 for a few weeks now. When I set up the phone I set the notification for the Emergency Alert System to notify me for all but Amber alerts. Thought it was a great feature since I'm not home alot and always have my phone with me.
Since doing so there have been several National Weather Service extreme and severe weather alerts in my area which were broadcast on both TV and radio however I never reveived any alerts via my phone. I contacted Verizon who were basicly useless with giving me an explanation or solution, I spoke to three people and I got three different answers. One rep I spoke to said that it depends on what angency is sending out the alert and that verizon may not have been notified of any local alerts. So at this point I am a bit confused as to how the system is suppose to work? If both radio and TV media are sending out the alerts why am I not getting any via my phone? Isn't the point of this feature to get alerts through your phone should you not have access to a radio or TV?
I can't find anything definitive about whether (or when) my iPhone 4 will (or won't) be able to receive the national emergency alerts (WEA) via the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS).
None of the carriers seem to support iphones. I find it hysterical that a national system has been implemented with the msot popular phone out there iphone unable to receive these alerts?? Am I missing something?
There are several weather related 3rd party apps being sold in the Apple App Store that offer to provide push notifications in the event of severe weather at the iPhone users location. However,I believe these apps are NOT pushing the warning out to users immediately when the National Weather Service issues the warning.I suspect it is due to how the app developers are handling (and footing the cost) of pushing the data. Many times the warning notification comes AFTER a storm has passed. This is extremely dangerous and it would be appreciated if Apple could investigate this problem, which could serve to help public safety.
I cant get any email or text notifications to come thru my bt. i have tried every setting within the phone.and have tried several bt headsets ( Playtronics HD Pro& moto h790 ) with no luck. my 3yr old windows phone would play my custom tones and ringers thru my bt( moto h790).including my text and email ringers.never had to look at my phone to see who was calling.
A few weeks ago, I had an issue where i wasn't getting sms alerts. I put it down to a one off or me just missing them. However, I'ts happened again. My inbox had 3 messages, that I'd not heard a beep for, I had no little envelope icon and no "New Message" alert on the main screen.
As a test, we sent a message to my phone, the message hit the inbox, but there were no notificataions. I changed the profile and sent another text.. same again, no notifications.I rebooted the phone and sent another message.. this time everything worked OK.I'm using a standard message tone as the tone alert..
I am trying to open .ipd files using ABC Amber and Magicberry in order to edit my contact files.in Magicberry the Phone call logfiles are showing but the contact s are blank. (long list of empty items but no detail)ABC amber just runs out of memory when loading the files and freezes.
This annoying feature is on the lock screen, left of Alternative Password. I put my phone in my pant pocket throughout the day, and accidentally make at least 2 emergency calls per day. I have tried to delete all contacts in my emergency group, but somehow it manages to randomly read them.
Is there a way to disable this feature altogether like unchecking the camera on the lock screen?
I have a Galaxy S5 and would like to be able to stop the notification of receiving an e-mail without stopping the notification of text messages. Is there a way to differentiate? I was able to do this on older phones.
I have certain apps "i.e. quick change keyboards", I like to have the notifications for it shown on my notification screen, but I do not want to see it on my lock screen. Other apps I DO want to see on the lock screen.
I upgraded to lollipop yesterday it went smoothly and I have had any issues since. I have seen that I should have access to my dialer via the lock screen. The phone is there but all I can do is make an emergency call without first entering the lock code. Is this how it should be? Also, when charging I read that at the bottom of the screen it should tell you how much time left to charge. How can I make it happen?
When my phone is locked I find on the bottom of the lock screen the emergency call symbol which, if tapped, brings up the option to then dial 999. Problem is with my fat fingers is that I keep knocking this and so bringing up the option to deal. Luckily I've always noticed and then cancelled so no mishaps yet.
I have experienced this feature on my gfs S4 so I know how it is supposed to work, but I have smart alerts turned on in the settings of my S5 but they do not seem to be working. I have not tested it with a missed called yet, but it says it works with messages and other notifications but it does not vibrate when I pick it up. Are there any other settings that might be affecting this? I do have the vibration turn on and up pretty high, and I even enabled vibrate during ringing just to be safe.
I've had a Galaxy S6 for about a month now, and for the past two weeks I've been fighting tooth and nail with it to try to fix the issue in the title. I believe (based off what little I've learned from Googling this up) that it's an issue with apps that use push notifications (GCM?) alerts, and includes Facebook messenger, Google Hangouts, Steam chat, TheScore (sports app), and some others. If I'm on my home wi-fi, those alerts MIGHT show up, but 95% likely won't; as soon as I disconnect from my home wifi, I'll get a deluge of alerts that had been 'backed up' and waiting for the chance to be delivered.
This does not happen while on cellular data, and it does not happen on other wi-fi networks from the same ISP.
After Googling the heck out of this, things I have tried include:
* Making sure that the 'keep wi-fi on while asleep' setting is set to always. * Adding the affected apps to the priority list. * Having a Samsung employee at Best Buy reinstall the OS. (I think that's what she said she did.) * Changing my router to a static DNS, pointed at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. * Downloading that DNSet app, though I quickly deleted it both because it didn't seem like it was working, and because I didn't savor the idea of an app sitting in the middle of my data like that.
The handful of other threads I've found with a similar issue have all seemed to devolve down to a single thought: Lollipop (perhaps even specifically Lollipop on Verizon Wireless devices) does not always play well with IPv6 data, though it's entirely possible I've settled on that as the culprit just because it makes me feel better having a specific target in mind.
My router (Netgear C6300) does not seem to have a setting to specifically turn off IPv6 data. Any way to specifically turn off IPv6 usage on a Galaxy S6 without rooting the device?
When my phone is dark, in sleep mode after a timeout, I am not receiving any alerts/sounds when I receive an email. The LED light doesn't even light up. I receive alerts for Text Msgs & other "messaging" type apps, just not email. Immediately upon waking up the phone & authenticating, I get the Alert sound & the email msg pops up. This was an intermittent issue prior to the 5.1.1 update (which I had hoped would fix), but NOW it happens every time & is thus worse than before the update. I have tried several email APPS - and they all behave this way. Currently I have K9 Email installed. (I have WiFi enabled & Smart Wifi Search enabled).
I have my S5 connected to my car radio via bluetooth. I'd like to listen to the local radio, but would still like to get alerts (including GPS directions) without having to switch the source over to the phone. Is this possible? How?
I have problems with paging alerts. if on call duty a page gets send to me, will not be able to know because it will not repeat continuously. is there an app or a setting in galaxy s5 to do this?
My S2 is only about four or five months old and I recently started noticing that it is not alerting on text messages anymore. I checked the settings and the obvious stuff such as the volume being on and a ringtone for text notification is set. I just went to unlock my phone and I noticed that the phone did not play the click or pop noise as I hit the keys to unlock the phone. Again, the volume was on....maybe this is a larger issue...
I have a G920F and I noticed that the call alerts menu is missing. I looked under Sounds and Notifications menu and in the phone app. After a google search I learned that many are having the same issue. So now I cannot set the minute beep or the vibrate when pickup, hangup notification and all the rest. Is there any way I can get them back?
Having issues with the S6 ringtone and message alerts? I copied a folder called media to my S6 when I first updated to 5.1.1 and I could select my ringtone and message alert tone from this folder, but yesterday it went back to default and now i can't select anything in the media folder, coincidentally my video folder i used to be able to see is now not showing in the video player but is there if i browse my files?? Is there a cache clear for the system ringtone notification app?
Every single member of our family was awakened at 2 am last night when their phones were beeping about a system update. ALL of our phones were in "Do Not Disturb" mode with the only exclusion list being a couple family members' phone numbers. There is no option to block system update alerts in the middle of the night. There is no slider to select/deselect that. It seems like this would be a pretty basic option.
Since the lollipop update I can't turn off the "new sms message" on my radio while playing music through bluetooth. Before the update I could just turn my phone on vibrate or mute and the alerts wouldn't interrupt my music. I'll be singing along to a song when suddenly the music stops, an alert tone comes on and the "new sms message" pops up on my radio display. It's bad enough that half of my apps stop working randomly for no reason since the update.
As the title says, I have my s2 set to 'never' vibrate. Why then does my phone vibrate VERY strongly when I get ebay alerts? It doesn't vibrate for any other notifications.Has anyone got any ideas as to what I can do to stop thisy phone crashed about a month ago and I've had problems with it ever since.
