View 15 Replies View RelatedAn OTA update to 5.1.1 loaded last week for my G920I and I am unable to uninstall Knox or disable it. How to do it without root? I am a huge supporter of rooted devices but this one does not have a whole lot of bloat so I would rather keep it unrooted. All the instructions point to a Knox icon and main settings in Knox which I do not have.
Knox is loaded and running and alsmost using up a gig of ram. I had Knox enabled in 5.0.3 before the OTA update and it appears to be enabled still in 5.1.1. I do not care about security and I am careful about what I install and I don't need a system app running and wasting battery and ram.
List of apps safe to disable on stock S6 Android 5.0.2? I've found some on the internet and on the forum, but nothing specifically for Samsung/TouchWiz and nothing for Android 5.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to disable the clock on the status bar, I'm on stock 5.1 , rooted. I don't want to flash a rom just so that I can disable it, is there any other way. Nova launcher does it, but it's just in the launcher, not system wide.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust updated from a nexus 5 to galaxy S6 and wondering if there's any way to get the stock android lock screen to display?I need to use a pin due to work restrictions on the phone, so can't disable the normal lock screen to use an alternative widget - I've tried a few of these but just get two lock screens. I prefer the stock lock screen as there's more spacing between the numbers (easier for fat fingers).Phone isn't rooted. Android 5.1 using nova launcher.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI miss a call. I get the notification and dismiss it.
If I go to the Phone app, under Recent I see all my other calls - incoming, outgoing, and rejected. But it doesn't show me my missed calls. So once I dismiss the notification I have no record of the missed call.
S6, US Verizon (SM-G910V), 5.1.1, no root.
I had a recent update that updated all my apps. My Droid Turbo that I bought about a month ago came with 54 apps. All of them you can only disable not uninstall since it is part of the OS from what I understand.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi was happy few days back since my xperia min pro was updated to 4.0. But now i started to hate ICS update because my front camera is not working. If any one planning to update its better you don't update it..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the Google calendar since I prefer that over the stock HTC one. However, I am still seeing meetings in the stock one show up in my notification tray when I swipe down.
I can't figure out how to remove this. Unchecked all calendars, turned off notifications etc.
Would you recommend I follow this process? Furthermore I have a question about the stock android which would be installed. Is this considered the 'official' version of Android? I.e. will I be getting updates as soon as they roll out, similar to how it works on say a Nexus device? Or will I need to reinstall the whole OS everytime I need to update the OS?
I never used Android before this, having used BB and WP before this. Also, will the functionality on my phone remain the same? For example will the camera still make use of the laser autofocus? What functionality would be lost if I install stock? Would they be specific software features such as QMemo and knock code for example?
I have gotten my phone back from repair, and it is now empty. Before I sent it, I backed up the SMS messages using the stock messages app. I stored the file on dropbox. Now, I am trying to restore the messages. So, I go to dropbox, and export the file to the SD Card in the phone. However, no matter where on the SD card I store the file, the messages app cannot find it to restore.
//Note that I now have no messages in my phone. Do I need to make some messages to produce the correct folder first?// (Edit: I did this, and it made no difference)
why the file cannot be found?
Any way to disable the limit of characters in a text message using the Xperia messaging app. Whenever I go over a certain number of characters, the app splits my text message into 2 or 3 SMS. So the person I'm sending it to receives 2 or 3 SMS instead of one. I had the same issue on my iPhone years ago, but Apple fixed it, so I can send super long SMS. Is there a way to fix this on my Z3?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAny one found a way (w/o rooting) to disable the stock music player? I discovered PowerAmp a while back while using my D1. It was rooted so it was easy to disable those apps that I didn't want to ever start. Now, that I have upgraded to the Bionic, I can't play/pause or forward/back using the volume buttons nor my BT headset without it starting the stock player.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI use GO SMS as my primary text messaging app. With ICS I had the ability to disable the stock text messaging app but after the Jelly Bean update, the disable button is now grayed out. Disabling the stock messaging app enabled me to access the GO SMS app from the lock screen as well as from the Circle widget.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my new HTC One M8 (AT&T) when I receive a call from a blocked number it comes up Private Number in the stock android phone app, even though I have that number identified in my stock Android Contacts app. When this happened on my old HTC One V (Virgin Mobile), it identified it using the Contacts app. Any way to get it to identify it on the M8, without having to switch to a different set of apps?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed a custom recovery on my nexus 6 called Rastapop. Don't get me wrong, its a great rom, it's just not for me. I would like to completely revert back to android 5.0.1 because I loved it. I completely wiped the device before installing Rastapop, so I cannot simply "factory reset" my device.
I can completely handle the flashing process due to the fact that I am an experienced programer. All I need from you is the link to the Nexus 6 5.0.1 ROM, and the link to the Nexus 6 5.0.1 GAPPS (Google Apps).
Or am I just missing it? I just want to see my fb friends' profile pics pulled into the Contacts app, like with every other Android phone I've had...

I know many of us did not buy this phone for its camera capabilities, but given that this is part of the Xperia line, it's disappointing that this phone did not ship with at least the X10's imaging software. Sony Ericsson was content to put their on touch on many areas of the device, yet, they decided to NOT touch one of worst pieces of Android. Would anyone else have liked SE to tweak the camera software? I wasn't expecting Arc-status, but I also wasn't expecting such a low-quality experience on such a "high-end" device.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor those of you who want to view websites in desktop mode on your mobile I would first recommend you just use Dolphin browser. They have an easy toggle add on that you can go back and forth between mobile and desktop modes very quickly. If you must have the stock Android browser I have a trick for you too. Open up stock browser, in the url type "about:debug" Nothing will appear to happen. Now press menu>More>Settings>(in debug area) UAString>Desktop. You may have to refresh the Page for the new settings to take effect. Now you are surfing in desktop mode!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have questions about animated gif file(s) which is send by Android Gmail as attachment My device is non rooted N5 with kitkat (4.4.4); gmail is 5.0.1 (1642443).
1) Unable to open gif attachment as animated file in gmail, I usually use Quickpic to open gif file in my device and in cloud storage because Gallary dose not work. But in gmail i do not have to option to choose the app, the default image viewer in gmail ( may be gallery ?) dose not display the animated effect. So i have to save the file to my phone or to Gdrive to see the animation. Is there a way to view the animation directly in the email without save the file??
.2)Could i send image files in Android gmail as 'In Line' Similar to the 'insert photo' function in desktop gmail instead of 'Attachment', how?
I can't seem to get a working recovery after flashing stock images with and without TWRP 2.8.7.1.
I followed these steps to upgrade to Android 6.0 after verifying the md5 checksum of my download:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-hammerhead....img [it looks the same as before, but I did it anyway]
reboot bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead....img
reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
I have also tried with and without flashing cache
fastboot reboot
Then I go back into the bootloader and try to access recovery, but I only get the dead android with the red triangle.
I'm having the same problem with my Nexus 7 (2013).
Few months back i had installed the Android M preview and then to root the device i had installed a custom Kernel on my Google Nexus 5.
