Motorola Droid Bionic :: Disable The Stock Music Player?
Sep 10, 2011
Any one found a way (w/o rooting) to disable the stock music player? I discovered PowerAmp a while back while using my D1. It was rooted so it was easy to disable those apps that I didn't want to ever start. Now, that I have upgraded to the Bionic, I can't play/pause or forward/back using the volume buttons nor my BT headset without it starting the stock player.
I've had this phone for about a week now and being more comfortable with it I'm using more features and have an issue with the music app and widget. It wont play all my music. The app will play each song individually when manually selected but when on the song list is plays one to two songs after in order then jumps to the songs listed under "I" and repeats that segment (the songs that title starts with I) instead of staying in order, it has also done this with "M" once, have tried clearing cashe and data of the app with no change in result. Has anyone else had this problem (P.S. I'ma give up saying I wont by Motorola anymore, had the perfect chance to switch over when I signed the contract for 4G service and... bought Moto, just the brand me and my family have used as long as I can remember)
Car dock music player will only allow me to select playlists, not artists, nor CD titles. I didnt have this issue with my Motorola Droid and tje official car dock.
I have two music apps - standard Motorola (which I do not use) and Google Music (which is my preferred). And my question is ... is there a way to set Google Music as default player that accepts bluetooth commands? My typical use case - when I try to play music using bluetooth system in my car, I have to manually open Google Music from the phohe, otherwise standard Motorola Music app would take over and play. And since there is no way to uninstall it, I have to stop motorola music app, switch to google music and manually start music there.
I have an unrooted Bionic that I want to be able to control the sound a little more. Some music or other audio files are quiet, so I have to turn up my radio to hear it well. This causes a problem when I'm using navigation at the same time, because when it tells me to turn it's super loud. Is there a way, or an app out there to adjust the volume of my navigation separate from my music player/pandora?
I just bought this device, love it so far. When I use a Google Voice command like, "play Madonna", it defaults to Sound Picker and doesn't play any songs. I noticed Music app is not even listed as a choice. See pic.
Is there a way to have the stock Music app as one of the choices instead of Sound Picker?
why Bionics don't have the stock Sound Recorder app. When scrolling through the "All Apps" list in Manage apps, it's there, but the size is zero bytes. I'd much rather use the stock app if possible. It's the bestone by far.
Has anyone had any issues with the music player skipping about 30 seconds into any songs? Not just once but a few times while using. I run 25 to 30 miles a week and the music player is really getting annoying! I've tried 4 different sets of headphones and it's definitely not the headphones themselves maybe something internal. Also on my second phone here. The first one started randomly resetting itself, also had skipping issues. This one only has the skipping issues so far.
Granted I am using Good Technologie's email client for work, but i get wav file attachments for all VM's left for me @ work via email.
I used to be able to just play them on the D2 with Froyo, but it looks like the GB version of the stock player for D3 doesn't play wav files...is this right??
Is anyone experiencing major lag in the stock gingerbread music player? Changing songs takes forever and it constantly force closes. It's been like this since the update.I do not want to use any third party music player apps.
I was browsing on my bionic when I went to open a new webpage the browser stated I had reach my window limits so I went into menu, windows and when I click on the minus sign to close the windows it simply opened the page and won't close them.
I use GO SMS as my primary text messaging app. With ICS I had the ability to disable the stock text messaging app but after the Jelly Bean update, the disable button is now grayed out. Disabling the stock messaging app enabled me to access the GO SMS app from the lock screen as well as from the Circle widget.
For those of you who want to view websites in desktop mode on your mobile I would first recommend you just use Dolphin browser. They have an easy toggle add on that you can go back and forth between mobile and desktop modes very quickly. If you must have the stock Android browser I have a trick for you too. Open up stock browser, in the url type "about:debug" Nothing will appear to happen. Now press menu>More>Settings>(in debug area) UAString>Desktop. You may have to refresh the Page for the new settings to take effect. Now you are surfing in desktop mode!
Tried Facebook application, tried Facebook mobile and both gave me the same error.
Error
File cannot be displayed or played.
It also gave me the option to play with QuickPic which also gave me another error:
Cannot play video
Sorry, this video cannot be played.
I tried it on several videos one of which I uploaded from my phone and my wife could play it fine with her Thunderbolt and was quick to say it was because her phone was better than mine.
I just notice it today when I'm switching between app. At the same volume Google play music sound louder than the HTC music player without losing sound quality.
My situation is the base player was working fine for my needs. I had some music by the band "Kix". I added a song by a different band called "The Kix", and after uploading, all the "Kix" songs had been changed to "The Kix".
In trying to change the name of "Kix" back to the way it should be (no "The"), I have:
1) Copied all music from SD to Laptop. 2) Using Laptop, I went into the Properties of each song, updating and verifying all had the correct Title, Album Artist, Contributing Artist, and Genre. - including deleting the song from "The Kix" so there wouldn't be any confusion within the program. 3) Deleted the existing Music folder from the LG 4) After deleting the folder from the LG, I then copied the folder with updated information from my laptop back to the LG.
I expected that the new data would take, and that "Kix" would return, along with some other updates I had made. When I looked at the stock music player, I saw that most of the data changes (available through the Details option after a long press on the song) took, but for some reason "Kix" is still displaying as "The Kix".
I also noticed I couldn't use my old Playlist names, making me think that there are cookies/files (or the like) stored somewhere on the phone, and that data is still being accessed.
I then tried MediaMonkey, but that made things even worse when it imported the playlist and songs (duplicate songs, songs with wrong artist or album title, songs with lost data), and I'll be spending more time correcting their import errors than anything.
I recently bought an HTC One M9 and am generally pretty happy with it, except for the way it handles music files.
The stock music player displays downloaded amazon files with their full (tagged?) titles, e.g.
B00LVIQY6O_(disc_1)_02_-_Archie,_Marry_Me
if I amend the title it the phone claims it can't find the track *at all*.
It also claims that it cannot find some downloaded tracks from amazon *at all*. Yesterday I renamed one track (it disappeared from the phone's half-arsed gaze), moved the 'correctly' (see above) named track from the SD card to the internal drive and back again. Stock music player (and Google music player) couldn't locate it. So I deleted all copies and redownloaded to the SD card. Still bugger all. However, it could find this version on the internal drive so ... go figure.
I suppose the main questions are:
1) Why can't the phone's stock music player find all my downloaded tracks when they're located on the SD card? It's frankly hit and miss.
2) Why do both music players pitch a fit when I try to rename 'ugly' titled songs?
I have music on the Bionic and it seems to be stored on internal storage.. The sd card seems to be empty and i want to store my music there..how come its not stored on the removable storage? how can i get it there?
I used to have the standard set of issues with my Bionic (data drops, restarts, etc.), but thankfully, after receiving a refurbished unit and upgrading to ICS when it was pushed a few months ago, my issues have been resolved.
That is, until a few weeks ago.
Recently, I have experienced music played through the headphone jack cutting out for 2-3 seconds, then playing again (the song continues to play as though nothing is wrong). The issue tends to happen once every 30 minutes or so. I've experienced this issue with Google Music, Amazon MP3, and Pandora, and it also applies to both streamed/cloud music AND music stored locally on the phone. I have already tried cleaning out the headphone jack for debris. Also, I know it isn't an issue with the headphones, as they play audio from my computer without any issue.
So i transferred my whole music library to S6 and happily listened to it via the stock music player. Then much later when I had downloaded some new apps and edited settings, I returned to the music player to see that all my songs had vanished. I still have them on the memory and Poweramp can still find them, but not the stock music player?
ICS update has changed something for the bad on my Droid Bionic!! I can't get music to stream to car radio using the radio controls (2012 Sorento). I had no problems with Gingerbread.......it worked just fine. I tried FDR and got a slight improvement in that the music would stream but I would have to start it with the phone. Tried re-pairing phone and car which didn't work. I have experienced the music stream stopping after 1song or several songs.
The issue occurs when playing music and you get CPU load. For me this usually occurs within 6 hours after a reboot. Apps that use the network to stream music are more affected. This usually occurs while the screen is off at random times, and is resolved temporarily when you press the power button. However, there appears to be a bug in the OS where simply touching the screen can cause enough CPU load to create this issue, although that bug seems to require the phone being on for a while. Also, if you do/don't, can you post your kernel version? The atrix uses 2.6.32.9-00001
When I try to add songs to the playlist, the phones says they add but they don't add in the stock music player. I see them pop up in Google Play though. I have tried deleting the playlists several times and the issue keeps showing up. I would like to use the stock player because the lyrics come up and I can change songs in the lock screen.
Why does the built-in music player app keep starting itself in the background?Ever since I first got the phone, I kept finding the music player open. Its there about a minute after boot. I use Advanced Task Kill to stop it, a minute later or so and its back. I used Optimize Tool Box to view the startup apps and Music is not one of them. Keep in mind, this is not a background service but the app itself.
If I have a podcast in my Droid 3, the built-in Music Player plays the podcast file automatically whenever it gets a Bluetooth-stereo connection to my car audio system automatically. I don't like the Music Player because it does not have "Resume Play" feature where I can pause the play, saving the position, and resume play when I restart the Music Player later. My SanDisk Clip+ MP3 Player can do this, but the more expensive Droid 3 with the built-in Music Player does not have this feature.
Plus, if I have another podcast player app, the built-in Music Player seems to take precedence and will even play over the the third-party podcast player app, so you start getting multiple podcasts playing at the same time.
how to disable the Music Player permanently? I of course cannot uninstall it.
With email, you can choose to enable automatic "reply to all" - but with texting, it aapears to be automatic that replies go to everyone who received the original text. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable this.
Does anyone know how to get the text app to only reply to the primary sender in a text message - and not to everyone on the text list of recipients? It can get very dicy with this auto-reply to all. The stock texting app and Handcent do NOT have that option, that I can find.
Music cuts in and out reguardless of what player I use while the WiFi hotspot is enabled. I turned WiFi hotpspot off and music played as it should. Pandora, Tunein radio, mp3's... anything media wise it appears.bIt also appears this only happens while listening via a bluetooth device - in my case a Motorola T505.
I have a small issue. I was getting the lyrcis on the screen when I first got the Razr, but all of a sudden they have stopped showing. I did a search and found the same issue on the Atrix but no one had a response.
