I just got the s6 last weekend and so far so good.
My only problem right now is that I'm not a Fan of the image that is displayed when you bring up the lock screen.
Is there a way that you can change that image to something else more my style?
Just got a new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. I have set the fingerprint and backup password to unlock the screen. How to change the backup password?
I have searched a while on Internet. The solution found couldn't work for me. The screen of their pages look different.
I set a 'slide to unlock' lock screen image in Settings/Wallpaper or via the Photos app but when I lock the phone and then turn it on the image always shows the original battery gauge picture. This is only since I upgraded to v5.1. I've tried disabling the lock screen password but with no difference.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my Motorola Atrix 2 to the new 4.0.4 OS. Previously, I had my phone set up so that I had to enter a pin # if my phone had been asleep for 30 minutes or more. Otherwise, if less than 30 minutes, turning the phone on (from sleep) went directly to the home screen (no swiping or unlock needed). Under the new OS, I cannot seem to keep this. Now, there is a 2-step unlock process (selecting key icon, and then unlock option -- lock icon -- in order to get to main screen). The only way to avoid this annoying 2-step process (that doesn't really add any security) is to turn off all locks, but I would prefer to have some security (i.e. through pin lock after 30 minutes asleep). Anyway to disable this annoying 2-step/swype feature when turning on phone without disabling all locks? If not, is there anyway to go back to my previous OS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my S5 today, upgraded from my three and half year old S2 Skyrocket, However, it seems to have some weird default "unlock effect" where these stupid bubbles of colors appear wherever you touch or swipe on the lockscreen. I've searched around for how to get rid of it, but everything I've found says go to the Lock Screen settings menu and change the "unlock effect." But the lock screen settings menu on my phone doesn't have that option. I tried searching in the settings for "unlock effect" and it comes up with a result, but when I click it, it just takes me to the lock screen settings--which as I said has no option for unlock effects.Did they remove the ability to change/remove the lockscreen effect in 5.0 or am I just completely missing something?

Samsung GS5 with Android 5.0.
When I unlock my Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F, Android 5.0, kernel 3.4.0-4854135) a metallic sound can be heard. It's not the ordinary sound that can be disabled/enabled in Sounds and notifications -> Other -> Screen lock sound. I've tried to check and uncheck that option, which adds a "clicking" sound (not a one that I want), so that option seems to be working.
Extremely annoying that the unlocking sound cannot be removed anywhere in the phones Settings.Also, when I'm talking to someone on the phone, sometimes a watery, notification type of sound can be heard, but when looking at the phones display, nothing has happened that one should be notified about.
Is there any possible way to undo this? I realize this is added security, but I really would like to go back to using a pattern to unlock?

Odd thing is that in the settings, it still shows fingerprint. Am I missing something ? When I put it on pattern though, it has no issues , and always has the pattern every time I turn e screen on.

I've been reading ways to save battery and one of them was to turn off that annoying "popping colors" when I unlock my screen. Says to go to setting>lock screen>unlock effect...Problem is that unlock effect is not there! I'm on AT&T and my friend is on Sprint and she has it in her settings. View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 month old Galaxy S5 on Verizon, and in the past month I've had a problem where I will press the home button to turn the screen on and there will be a delay of up to 4 seconds before the screen lights up and I can unlock. Oftentimes, the delay is so long that the phone turns the screen back off from inactivity a split second after it finally comes on.
If I am actively using the phone, and then turn the screen off and right back on, there is no delay. It's only after turning back on after several minutes of inactivity (which is most of the time). It's almost as if the phone has put itself to sleep and is taking a long time to wake.I am on Android 4.4.4. If it matters, I also get the camera-daemon battery suck issue from time to time.
if you have an ecrypted Samsung Galaxy S5 you already know that once you've encrypted it your only option for a screen lock is to enter a secure password. This gets annoying fast. When you want to access your phone quickly on the go it can be difficult to unlock it with any speed. Well I've come up with a way to get past the password lock screen with the same speed as a password and consistently quicker than the finger print scanner unlock.
What I've done and I've included on how to do it yourself instructions below. I've set my password to be one of my hot key options on my Samsung keyboard. I've also shortened my delay for the long press but how to do that isnt included here. (hopefully with screen shots we'll see first time attempt at posting pics here)
Doing this will allow you to quickly get by your lock screen and still have an encrypted device.
**NOTE** This is not a substitute to remember your password. Know it regardless of this being setup or not.
**NOTE** If you have auto space turned on (factory default setting) you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the added space or you will receive an incorrect password error message.
Here's how to do it:
1. Enter the pull down menu and click settings.
2. Tap Language & Input.
3. Now click on the samsung keyboard settings icon.
4. Next if turn on the my hot keys icon.
5. Enter your password under any number to long press to have it typed.
*Don't forget if you have auto space on you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the space or your password will not work.
I just turned around and my phone was lit up.
I swiped to unlock and then another icon appeared on the launcher home screen...
I already had one shortcut to iobd2 there but another appeared as I unlocked. It's got a larger icon!?
If I long press and look at app info, its the same app info.
If I go to the app drawer and add the app again, it adds it as a small icon, like the original one.

I just purchased a new galaxy s5 and I cant change anything on the lock screen. I cant change the wallpaper, and I cant add a password to it. I've already gone to setting>lock screen but it only gives me two options : s view window color & weather unit.Ive already tired to do it straight from the gallery and setting it from there.Did I disable a widget ,or how can I get these basic functions?
