Galaxy S5 :: Unlock Effect Missing From Lock Screen Settings
May 1, 2014
I've been reading ways to save battery and one of them was to turn off that annoying "popping colors" when I unlock my screen. Says to go to setting>lock screen>unlock effect...Problem is that unlock effect is not there! I'm on AT&T and my friend is on Sprint and she has it in her settings. Is it an AT&T thing or a glitch on my phone?
First off when I take my phone out of lock or wake up it from sleeping the icons are missing till i wipe my finger across the screen.. its weird to explain but its kinda like i have to swipe the whole screen for the icons to be visable the same thing happens when my phone goes to sleep and the keyboard is open.. any ideas?
and another thing is sometimes ill be writting a msg and my phone will make 3 beeping prompting type of noise any idea what this is?
I had to perform a factory reset to get the gingerbread update. Everything is working fine but I've noticed that the CRT screen off effect isn't there. I thought that was a stock part of gingerbread. Has anyone else noticed or is it somehow missing from my phone? I have full animation on.
I just got my S5 today, upgraded from my three and half year old S2 Skyrocket, However, it seems to have some weird default "unlock effect" where these stupid bubbles of colors appear wherever you touch or swipe on the lockscreen. I've searched around for how to get rid of it, but everything I've found says go to the Lock Screen settings menu and change the "unlock effect." But the lock screen settings menu on my phone doesn't have that option. I tried searching in the settings for "unlock effect" and it comes up with a result, but when I click it, it just takes me to the lock screen settings--which as I said has no option for unlock effects.Did they remove the ability to change/remove the lockscreen effect in 5.0 or am I just completely missing something?
On older version of SK17i firmware - there was a nice screen lock effect (like on old analog TVs).It is gone after updating to the newest version of firmware (4.0.2.A.0.62). how to re-enable it?
if you have an ecrypted Samsung Galaxy S5 you already know that once you've encrypted it your only option for a screen lock is to enter a secure password. This gets annoying fast. When you want to access your phone quickly on the go it can be difficult to unlock it with any speed. Well I've come up with a way to get past the password lock screen with the same speed as a password and consistently quicker than the finger print scanner unlock.
What I've done and I've included on how to do it yourself instructions below. I've set my password to be one of my hot key options on my Samsung keyboard. I've also shortened my delay for the long press but how to do that isnt included here. (hopefully with screen shots we'll see first time attempt at posting pics here)
Doing this will allow you to quickly get by your lock screen and still have an encrypted device.
**NOTE** This is not a substitute to remember your password. Know it regardless of this being setup or not.
**NOTE** If you have auto space turned on (factory default setting) you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the added space or you will receive an incorrect password error message.
Here's how to do it:
1. Enter the pull down menu and click settings.
2. Tap Language & Input.
3. Now click on the samsung keyboard settings icon.
4. Next if turn on the my hot keys icon.
5. Enter your password under any number to long press to have it typed.
*Don't forget if you have auto space on you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the space or your password will not work.
I've just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 (I've defected from the 'other side'!) and updated the OS to Lollipop. There's apparently a new feature which allows you to access things like the flash light, wifi etc from the lock screen (Screen shot below). But I'm swiping down on the lock screen and nothings happening. Is this something that needs turning on in settings somewhere? I've been hunting round on the net and whiles there's plenty of articles covering the new feature, theres nothing on how to enable it.....if it needs enabling.
When viewing photos, videos, websites, etc. my phone used to smoothly rotate the screen from portrait to landscape view (and vice versa) as a single "window". So as I'd tilt the phone and whatever I was viewing would remain on the screen and rotate with the phone. All smartphones have this effect so I hope I'm explaining it clearly. Now it doesn't have that rotating effect any more. I can still view things in portrait and landscape, but instead of rotating with the phone as I tilt it, whatever I'm looking at on the screen disappears from one view and reappears in the other. Although the functionality is still there, the look and feel and overall experience is diminished.
I've checked the settings and screen rotation is turned off. I've turned it on and off while rotating the screen and the problem remains. I've powered down my phone and removed the battery a bunch of times and nothing's changed. I even reset the phone in safe mode and that didn't work either. Is there another setting that turns this effect on and off? This problem just appeared out of the blue the other day.
I'm on an international Samsung Galaxy S6 model running 5.1.1. I just performed a factory reset after noticing I didn't have any of the quick settings toggles, nor any way to enable them. Complete stock, not rooted.
I set a screen lock code today and used it several time with no problems. Tonight the unlock screen shows 'Enter Password to Unlock' but when I enter the pin code, it will not unlock.
I bought a new iPhone 4S and it seems that it misses the FaceTime functionality. I googled alot and all the solutions didn't fit my scenario, it doesn't appear anywhere, not in settings, not in Settings -> Phone, not in Settings -> General -> Restrictions and not in the contacts.I even checked in which country this phone should be in to make sure it's not for countries that doens't allow FaceTime at all and I saw that it was intended to be used in North America so this is not the case.
I dont think i'm bring Paranoid but I am noticing when I swipe up to unlock my screen, enter my Pin and press Enter.. the phone doesnt unlock. It hangs and i get a blank black screen for a maybe 7 to 8 seconds.
I have to retry the process a few times to get a successful result.
It is noticeable now i have a software Update of 2.1.2. Not the Android Update.
I am having issue where phone will not come out of lock screen. Buttons light but screen stays black. I can reboot and use phone so I know it is not hardware. I can still blindly touch screen and maybe get past lock but stays black til I reboot.
Just got my v10 and every time I try to adjust the lock screen settings, the phone either restarts of gives me the error "lock screen setting g has stopped".
Is there any way or any app to "unlock" the phone using touchscreen only. i dont want to use the key lock button which is at the top of phone to lock the phone. i found one app in the market to lock the phone using touch screen.
Yet another problem with my Bold 9930 I'm sad at this point that the device I love so much is already dying on me, hasn't even been 3 months yet I'm going to mention all the problems with this device, but the one that started few weeks ago and has gotten to the point where it just adds on to the frustrationAfter locking the device, when i try to unlock, using the top lock button, I just see blank screen, screen and keypad lit up thou. Sometimes when i restart my device, it won't display the blackberry logo and the progress bar, i just get the blank lit up screen. and after 5 - 10 minutes or so, i use random buttons on the keypad to get the display back, but nothing works. i just see blank screen and lit up keypad. Display would randonly get back but its a pain in the &&& to get the device display back after so many tries
When I try unlocking my screen, it slightly moves to the right but does not unlock. When I hold the power button and the "Slide to power off" appears, I'm able to slide right and power it off. After is starts up, the problem does not occur for a few days and then raises up again. Seems to me like a software issue.
The Keyboard Lock Icon was on the Home Screen till I installed the updates that were sent to me today on my BB. Now that Icon has disappeared. Checked the Help Section and could only find out how to lock or unlock screen manually. Checked the instruction booklet that came with it....again no help. Searched through the BB Curve Demo online - still nothing about adding back the icon. It was so easy just to push that button and not have to worry about the keys in my pocket or purse.....how do i get it back? If I dont want it back I wont install updates any longer because I found I had ro reset things back the way I wanted them to.....moving icons from folders to home screen etc....please tell me there is a way to get this back....just bought this BB in June and first one i have owned and have come to find it difficult to do without..
So, using the Moto screen that displays notifications, I swipe to unlock, then get another unlock for the main lock screen. Ergo, I have to swipe twice to unlock. Is there any fix other than no unlock? This leaves the phone open until the Moto screen takes over.
I have a Pattern Setup as my lock screen for my phone, and 2 out of the 3 times I try to unlock it, it doesn't work. I try to drag the pattern out, but it thinks i lifted my finger and the lines go red, like when you guess the wrong pattern, and the lines go crazy, shooting to random dots on the lock screen, making it very tempremental. When this occurs i just click the lock button to shut the screen off, and then try again. Even after I do this, it still won't work and the lock screen will go crazy.
Is it possible to post personal alternate contact information on the main lock/unlock screen in case my phone is misplaced or lost? If my phone is misplaced, people have no options other than to go through the phone and figure out who the owner is. It would be great to have this feature. It would give me peace of mind knowing it's there in case it's found. Most people would try to return it to a store or its rightful owner.
Is there a way to prevent or disable using the shortcut settings from the lock screen?
This person could easily turn the screen on, flop the screen down twice, use the short cut settings to turn off the Cellular data, preventing me from finding my phone using the device manager on the web.
