View 1 RepliesHad trouble with new Lg G3, customer service advised me to do a hard reset.
Long story short, did that, did nothing, backed up phone and did the dreaded factory reset.
After that i am missing apps from lock screen and lock screen effects setting.
I've just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 (I've defected from the 'other side'!) and updated the OS to Lollipop. There's apparently a new feature which allows you to access things like the flash light, wifi etc from the lock screen (Screen shot below). But I'm swiping down on the lock screen and nothings happening. Is this something that needs turning on in settings somewhere? I've been hunting round on the net and whiles there's plenty of articles covering the new feature, theres nothing on how to enable it.....if it needs enabling.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been reading ways to save battery and one of them was to turn off that annoying "popping colors" when I unlock my screen. Says to go to setting>lock screen>unlock effect...Problem is that unlock effect is not there! I'm on AT&T and my friend is on Sprint and she has it in her settings. Is it an AT&T thing or a glitch on my phone?
View 15 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to prevent or disable using the shortcut settings from the lock screen?
This person could easily turn the screen on, flop the screen down twice, use the short cut settings to turn off the Cellular data, preventing me from finding my phone using the device manager on the web.
Isn't this a security issue?
I am using LG Nexus 5, Android 5.0.1.
I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty. How to disable this feature? I cannot find anything in settings.
I have a Motorola Droid Turbo. I have never locked the phone. I downloaded ANDROID PAY app last night. It required a screen lock to secure credit card. I agreed and set up a pattern screen lock. I got tired of unlocking phone every time. I went to disable the screen lock and I am NOT ABLE to do that. The security settings for NONE and SWIPE have been grayed out and are no longer an option. I have removed ANDROID PAY and still have issue.
View 17 Replies View Relatedwhile im trying to close/ uninstall an app then a warning shows "unfortunately settings has stopped".. and it reset.. and if i try again it shows the same thing all over again. i already tried to reset it but didnt do much.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't open the settings menu - it just keeps crashing.
It started today and the phone had been getting really hot and draining battery at twice the speed it normally does, so I wanted to check battery usage in settings, which is when i discovered the fault.
Whether I try to access it through the main icon or via the pull-down tray icon, it just flashed white as if it was opening a new window, then returned to the menu.
I figured it was a case of hard reset as, due to the fact settings was unavailable, I couldn't even check for a new software update. So anyway, I hard reset and the problem is still there.
What's weirder is for the first 40 minutes or so it crashed in the same way as before, now it pops up and says 'sorry this crashed, would you like to send an error report'.
So I did. the error report says 'report type: crash, package name 'com.android.settings' ....
Whenever I go into settings for any reason on my LG g3 after a minute or so they crash to my dual window screen. The phone flashes this screen and goes black sometimes before restarting my home page.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my new galaxy s6 today and so far everything is good but I can't however access camera settings when I go into camera and click settings it crashes and just goes back to where I would take a picture I've already tried restarting the phone and even clearing cache and my phone is up to date.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi've recently started having problems with ovi maps and it's internet settings. i'm not sure when the problem started but whenever i try to access internet settings (because i want to change my connection from wifi to wap) the program just exits back to the nokia menu however all the other menus work fine. i've made a short video to show you exactly what i mean.

as you can see as soon as i press to access the internet menu it kicks me out, but i can access the navigation tab just fine then i tried to go accross to internet settings and it kicks me out again. i have already tried deleting cities folder and .qf file to no avail. i have also tried to go offline before accessing internet settings which didn't work either. i even installed nokia maps 2.0 which wasn't for this phone but installed just wouldn't work then reinstalled ovi 3 to no avail either!
I've recently made the switch back to android from an iPhone after quite a few years and I'm trying to re-familiarize myself with android's operating system and work out what I need to change and using this phone I noticed the notifications lacking, so I set up DashClock and DashNotifier and so far I love it. It does exactly what I want it to do for all the apps I have set up with it except for the notifications coming through the 'Messages' app on the phone for text messages.
When receiving a text message my lock screen ignores that I've set up DashClock as my default lock screen and pulls up the original lock screen with the quite ugly 'New Message' notification (as seen in the attached picture). If I scroll to the right DashClock is open and showing the message notification just fine. I've tried to disable the lock screen notifications for the 'Messages' app but haven't been successful in removing it. Is there a way to just have the 'Messages' app give lock screen notifications on the top bar and none like in the image below, or is there a work around within DashClock/DashNotifier or some other application that would fix this? My phone is running Android 4.4.2.
I updated my phone to lollipop 5.0, it is in general good till now, but i have two problems:
1) no notifications are displayed on my lock screen even for missed calls or sms's .. there is no any icon or symbol that informs me if i have missed any call or received a message ; and i have to unlock my phone every time to check
in the Settings -> Sounds and Notifications -> i selected the option to show all the notifications.. but nothing changed
2) also on the lock screen , not widget for the walkman or the sound cloud to enable me to pause the players or to navigate to the next song
My home screen has been crashing lately. I get a message "unfortunately, home has stopped". After clicking on, it takes a few seconds and a loading icon for everything to come back. Happens after j leave random apps. I haven't downloaded anything new. Seemed to start happening after I put in my 200gb SD card. Idk if it can be that though.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed LockInfo a while ago. I got everything working fine, downloaded it and plugins fine. I got them all from the same repo as I was advised to do that, and everything seemed to be working fine. Everything was up to date etc.
I received an SMS, and instead of it appearing under the SMS on LockInfo, which it does, it appears as well by the annoying Apple notification box.
I still want my phone to light up when I received a text message and the text message to be displayed under the SMS tab in LockInfo, but how do I get rid of the Apple notification box? I saw when configuring the app there was some thing about quick replying to texts and there was a list to choose form. Would any of those get rid of the Apple alert?
So I have been searching & have even spent money on trying to find a dot lock for the apple iphone 4s and dont seem to find it , does apple have it ? why or why not ?

My mother (age 68), keeps changing her password and forgets it. She also turns on sim lock without remembering the password. Can't explain why she does it. This has been a weekly event since getting the phone. She did the same to new hp pc. After 6 hours with tech support they deemed it owner damage. After sending it back and $400 it's fixed. We set it up with an account for her and a locked admin account. This won't happen again to the pc.
I've looked through all the docs and can't find any way to lock the settings. There must be. What if your kid watching a video or playing a game- goes in and starts pushing buttons in settings?

From 10 tentatives that I tried to open the camera, in 4 times the camera crash ... A black screen occur, until the message "App camera must be closed" or a lot of red/pink lines occurs in the image and freeze the camera app too.
I saw red lines with my S3 with Cyanogen OS ... It's appears conflict between software x hardware...
My iPhone 4S keeps crashing or looping on the screen when I have a missed call. If I try to get out of it pressing the back arrow on the top left corner or I press cancel or ok buttons it just goes back to the missed call screen and I have to reset the phone for it to be able to anything at all. I'm on Claro network in Peru on an iPhone 4S 16gb

My Captivate has been having trouble getting a GPS lock with the factory settings, and with the updated 'quickfix' settings.More here:

Have any of you guys with this phone had similar problems? I'm just wondering what we can do to really *fix* it. - Or wait for a firmware update. The GPS is majorly unreliable and only works part of the time.
My IPhone started to crash in a weird way. When it crashes randomly, I see that the whole screen is black with few bright lines and then its turns off immediately, sometime I been able to start it but usually it starts again and crashes the same way again after few seconds or minutes. when its connected to electricity its usually working fine.
I tried the following:
1. Replaced to iOS3 , iOS4, iOS5
2. Replaced the battery twice
3. Replaced the power connector
4. Replaced the power adapter then changed the battery again.
When I replaced the battery it worked for a month before same thing happened again. I have to note that if I am not touching the phone at all, it will stay on till the battery will end. Nothing works! Its Apple I bought it for their reputation and I'm disappointed!

Anyone else suffering from their curve 8520 os: 5.0.0.681 randomly crashing and only showing a white screen as well as it being unable to reboot unless it is plugged in? It often occurs when I'm playing media, using apps and maps. Had the same problem with my previous phone so it was sent in for repair and replaced but I'm still suffering from the same problem with the replacement handset!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've only had my Blackberry Bold for about 2 months. The camera was being a little funny and won't zoom so I switched off my phone and took out the battery and replaced it to try and reboot the phone. Now it won't turn on!When the battery is in the Red LED light at the top right corner lights up then goes off when the Phone starts up showing the BLACKBERRY Logo on the screen with the Loading Bar underneath. The bar then shows that it is loading but almost immediately it crashes and switches off. It does this repeatedly though I've tried removing and replacing the battery several times.I'm sure it is not a problem with the battery as I had only charged it the previous night and even tried using another battery from my friends Blackberry just to double check but the phone continues to repeatedly turn on, crash, turn off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt first glance, upgrading from .681 to .822 didn't appear to do too much; save for performance boosts, the OS remained largely the same as would be expected.. well, except for completely changing how the keyboard lock function operates and not providing settings for users to revert back to its prior logistics.
Lock Function Prior to .822: Setting your left soft key as lock, you could lock your phone from anywhere within the OS, showing a "locked" home screen (without actually going to it). To unlock after screen shuts off, you could press any key (as far as I remember) and it would bring up the "locked home screen", from there you would press A (or *) + Send to unlock.Lock Function in .822: Using the left soft key to lock, screen immediately shuts off going into lock mode without any screen feedback. To unlock after screen shuts off, you have to press only the "Power/End" key to bring up the "locked home screen" and then press the "mute" key.
Ah, so one key instead of two, just like the iPhone and many other smart phones; this must mean .822's method is better, right? Nope, and here's why.Reasons pre-.822 method is superior:On locking the phone, you received feedback that the phone was locked (nice), but more than that, the time was displayed, which is frequently absent depending on the application you're using (why it's not always displayed up top, I won't even begin to fathom).Being able to press any key or at least main function keys such as the soft keys and other function keys like the trackball to bring up the "locked home screen" mean quicker and easier access to the time as well as being able to unlock the phone. The mute key is flush with top casing of the phone, which makes it the absolute most difficult key I have ever encountered on any phone, and I don't have large fingers by any means.
Even if the mute key were easy to press, it's in a location that's more difficult to get to when holding normally compared to the keypad, which means even though pre-.822 you had to press two buttons, those two buttons where very close to each other and on top of that, close to your left thumb when holding the phone naturally. Why RIM felt the need to completely revamp the keyboard lock function in such a small update when the prior method had been in use for years while also not providing a way for users to revert to prior functionality, especially considering its user base, is completely beyond me.Based on this and other usability and user experience failures within the Blackberry OS, my recommendation would be to fire and replace the whole Usability/UX team, but well, that precludes actually having one to begin with.
After the 5.0 update, I went to add my Moto 360 as a trusted device and when I went to the Smart Lock menu option under Security settings I was surprised that there wasn't a Smart Lock menu option in there.
This is right out of the release notes from motorola: "Android Lollipop adds native support for allowing trusted devices to keep your phone unlocked (such as your Moto 360, a Bluetooth car kit or headset, etc.). Smart Lock replaces the prior trusted device capability in your Motorola phone. Note that you will need to add your trusted devices back after the transition to Lollipop in the Security settings menu under Smart Lock."
Noticed this option missing when your Moto X 2014 was upgraded to Lollipop.
I'm pulling my hair out every time I use this phone. I have heard you can adjust the touch screen to make it less sensitive, but I've got no idea how to do it!
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy screen froze on my 1020. None of the "screen" buttons would work but the physical side buttons would. I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
Any 3rd party app that can do the same?
