Galaxy S5 :: No Sound In Phone Calls When Device Is Hot?
May 6, 2015
I've noticed a few times recently when my phone is hot that if I make or receive a call there is no sound. My phone will ring if a call comes in but if I answer it, silence. If I try to make a call, the display shows it's connected and the call timer is ticking away, but I hear nothing, no ringing or voice. I've been told that the other person CAN hear me so I know the calls are connecting. Once the phone is cooler it works fine again. The overheating seems to happen in my car if the display has been on for a while with GPS and/or it's charging, and if it's a sunny day and the phone is getting some direct sunlight.
My S5 just started telling me who is calling by using what I think is the S Voice feature. I cannot figure out how to stop this from happening. I have checked and it is not in car mode, so I'm not sure what to do at this point. How to turn this off?
Where do I find the option to make the phone sounds, phone call only.
BlackBerry, you press one button and BAM, done, android, it gives me the volume keys to change notifications, does this mean if I turn the phone notification volume up, im going to be spammed with beeps and pings from email and messaging?
I just got my wife the S6 Edge on Verizon this past weekend. While everything seems to be awesome, she is now telling me that she doesn't get a ringing when she dials out unless she puts it on speaker phone. Tried turning off Advanced Calling, multiple reboots, soft reset, and a factory data reset. Nothing seems to fix it.
Is this a setting that I'm missing? Or a bad device?
I just received a new S5 on a warranty issue from Verizon. Same battery, SIM, and SD card as old phone. When I make or receive a call i have absolutely no sound. If I turn on speakerphone all sound returns. If I turn it off, no sounds and the person on the other end sometimes gets a high-pitched ringing. Could it be a headphone jack issue?
I just shifted from Samsung S4 to Sony Xperia Z2 supposing that Z2 has best feature as on date. It seems it's true till some extent however I am struggling with the call quality issue specially other party is not able to hear my voice clearly.
I tested it many times now it's very frustrating, everything is fine during usage of headphone but again same problem when I am taking calls directly from my cell.
I use the Phone Calls Only profile when I go to bed (I figure if it's important someone will call me, I don't want texts, facebook and emails waking me up).I used this profile on the Tour and it worked great.Just tried it last night on the bold and BBMs and emails were not silent, however, my sound settings are all identical to what they were on my tour. My understanding is the profile Phone Calls Only overrides any settings you have, and only makes noise if the phone rings. This was not the case.Is my phone defective, is do I need to do something else to set this up on my Bold?
Recently I dropped my Samsung S5 into a swimming pool. Luckily, after patiently sitting it in Rice for a week or two and replacing the battery, it is working perfectly again.
Apart from one point - whenever I try to make or take calls the phone immediately crashes and then reboots - I have tried putting the phone into safe mode and the issue persists. I can't understand how the rest of the phone could be working perfectly (texts, internet, audio, etc.) but the calls are causing crashes?
I have my sound on "Loud (Active)" as I always do and then all of the sudden it stops making any sounds or chimes when I receive calls, emails, texts or facebook notifications. My calls and ect.are still coming thru, but just completely silent.I have to look at my screen to see I have a call coming thru and wait for the little red light at the top to see if I have any text messages and whatnot.Does anyone know why this could be happening? Now during the workday I will probably end up missing important phone calls and playing phone tag with people.Any help would be appreciated
When someone calls me and I want to answer the call by swiping the green button I got nothing even I can't end the call by swiping the red button or even by pressing the lock key. I have to wait until the caller ends the call and then I call him back.
have had the samsung galaxy s5 phone for 10 months and now and only receiving sound from ear bud from phone- occurring with samsung ear buds and bose sports ear buds - i tried finding a setting in the phone did not find anything - what could be causing this issue? very annoying sound from one ear bud - each set of ear buds work fine on other media types.
I got the lollipop upgrade and now only have one notification sound, the whistle. And I can't figure out how to get my other notifications to work. They play in the notification menu and I can select them as default but they won't work when I get an actual notification. Ringtones work fine why won't my notifications?
How to turn off the power up sound on the S5? I prefer no noise when I start my phone (now if you could also get rid of the Verizon screen... but I know better)...
It's a really basic thing, i go into sounds and notifications, ringtones and sounds, email, tap on the email address i want to set, i change the notification sound to what i want, i hear the preview and i'm done. HOWEVER, it will not play that sound. no matter what i do it plays the little bike bell. I've tried to change it directly from email settings, no matter what i do the sound wont change and it wont vibrate. ringtone for phone and text, and everything else changes fine. just not email. i've rebooted, and cleaned cache partition.
The next day, after installing Lollipop 5.0, my alarm did not sound. It went off, but since I keep my phone on silent, it made no noise. It's never done this. I've always left my phone on silent through the night, and my alarm has always went off, nice and loud, waking me up. Not so, since installing Lollypop 5.0. I've smile some experimenting and it works fine in vibrate, so this will have to suffice until a fix is found. I did speak to a Samsung rep at Best Buy yesterday and he told me that they are pulling Lollypop 5.0 and coming out with 5.0.1
I have a Vodafone galaxy s6. Whenever I call anyone it says conditional call forwarding active then immediately cuts the call without ringing. I cannot receive calls either and sometimes it says the network then emergency calls only I have to toggle airplane mode on and off to fix this. However I can text and use mobile data.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 kernel 3.4.0. I use a stock sound (knock) for all notifications but at what seems like random intervals it will switch on its own to "Pure Tone"...a sound which isn't even an option for me to choose as a notification sound.
"Pure Tone" continues to play until the offending notification is acknowledged. What is causing this to reset and how do I make it stop?
Whenever I play music through my phone, with or without headphones, there is a sporadic noise that sounds similar to a record skipping, but more distorted. It is not the two tone beep others have posted about, nor is it the usual problem with headphones. The sound occurs in multiple audio apps. The default music player worked fine up until about a week ago (maybe two?), then the noise started. At first, a secondary app worked fine, but today that started making the noise as well. Force quitting the default app worked for a while, stopping the noise when I started the app back up, but now it goes back to the noise almost immediately. What this noise is or how to stop it permanently?
I have recently picked up a Galaxy S6 and have an issue with answering incoming phone calls. The phone will ring, but often when I pull it out of my pocket it the screen stays black and doesn't have an option to answer. If I unlock the phone with my fingerprint it just takes me to the home screen like normal and there is no option to answer the phone anywhere.
My girlfriend's grandma has a galaxy S5 through viaero and today it just stopped receiving calls. She still gets texts but when we call her phone it rings for about 15 seconds and goes to voicemail, it doesn't even show that anyone even tried to call on her phone
so I switched from an iPhone to a galaxy s5 about a week ago, and on my iPhone when I had an alarm set and I was on the phone it would go off normally. that doesn't happen with my galaxy, it just like makes a loud beep and that's all.
