View 1 RepliesI have noticed recently that I cannot use the microphone feature to dictate in order to text on my iPhone 4S. It used to work just fine but lately has stopped. What do I need to do to regain this ability when I want to text?

I just got the LG G3 about 2 months ago. For the first 6-7 weeks all was good and normal. About a week ago, I went to "speak" a text msg like I've been doing up until then where the microphone icon has gone missing. I'm sure as I was playing with setting, along the line I must have done something I shouldn't have taking away my microphone icon. I've tried a few things but can't seem to get it back. Seems that the area I need to get to, to turn it on, is grayed out. I've attached a few pics.

To get to emojis, I have to hold down the microphone voice key to be able to select the emoji section. I find this quite irritable for someone who uses a lot of emojis but never voice input. I used to be able to get rid of the microphone so I could go straight to emoji use on my old Galaxy S3, but I can't seem to figure out how for my new (non-edge) Galaxy S6.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got this phone out of the box and activated and the mic is not working... not when I'm on speaker phone, not while using Google Now or the voice recorder. And when I record it's getting absolutely no noise at all. However, it does work with an external headphone mic and over Bluetooth.
I've tried turning it off and removing and reinserting the SIM card, deleting the cache, using a small pin to clear the mic hole of "debris." Nothing is working. Firmware is apparently up to date.
Updated to Lollipop last night Verizon OTA, "ok Google" not working further investigating the mic will not pick up at all in any application. I did a factory reset did not work, rebooted in recovery mode and cleared the cache, did not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a way to control my S6's mic's volume/gain input level, for weeks now, and I have found nothing.
The reason why I'm looking for a way is so that when I'm recording some video in a louder environment the sound gets blown out, cause the phone just can't handle the gain control automatically, so I'd like to lower it manually to have nice sounding recordings.
Call recipients can't hear me when I make calls. I first thought it may be connection issues or something, but literally every call the person on the other end can't hear me. I can hear them fine however. So I tried recording me talking with the voice recorder and can't hear anything either. Not sure if it uses the same microphone, but when I shoot video it does pick up the audio. I just got this phone and was really happy with it until now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne phone will have a hard wire mic attached to it for the minister to wear and the other phone will be hard wired to the mic input jack of my video camera some 20-30 feet away.
Using a regular phone call would add some delay, but may not be noticeable from 20-30 feet away. Can these phones communicate in any other way that would eliminate the delay? Also, I think I can easily connect the earphone/mic jack to the mic input of the camera.
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 and when I have my Sony headphones plugged in the microphone is disabled. This worked fine on my Galaxy S3, why this would be?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes when i click microphone on google search, i get "Can't open microphone" error. First i tought it's about google app but it is not. When i tried to call a friend on Viber he couldn't hear me and i realized it is about all applications which uses internet. To be sure, then, i tried to record voice on Facebook Messenger, microphone didn't work.On skype didn't work.
Then,i called somebody on gsm network, microphone worked. I tried to record my voice on local application, microphone worked.Again, i tried all applications which uses internet, no luck.
After some minutes microphone acts normally.I mean it works everywhere. I couldn't understand when it works normally or according to what.
When i have this case, killing all apps and reboot phone not working.
Oddity is that my friend had Sony Z3, she has same issue.Microphone sometimes works sometimes doesn't work. So, i started think that maybe one app that we both have, always occupy the microphone and doesn't let another applications to use it. But why i can make calls on gsm network or record voice on local apps. Maybe they have higher priority on using microphone(?).
It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Now, i did a list of apps which uses microphone and i will try to delete or force stop one by one when i have this issue.
Another friend who has Sony Z3 has exactly same issue. So far, 1xGalaxy S6, 2xSony Z3
When using an app or Voice Recorder the Mic works fine. When I plug a headset in, the Mic cuts out... Do I have to use a headset with built in MIC... I want to use headset to listen and built in MIC in phone to speak.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBeing a sound engineer and involved in different aspects of music production, one of the features that made me purchasing the 5800 was the 'Digital stereo microphone' mentioned in the specifications... (quote):
Voice & Audio Recording
- Voice commands
- Speaker-independent name dialling (SIND)
- Voice recorder AMR, NB-AMR, FR, EFR
- Digital stereo microphone
I didn't find any trace of such digital mic, be it analogue or digital... the in-built mic is of course not stereo, and the mic in the remote isn't also, leave apart being 'digital'
I'd love using my mobile to capture musical ideas on the fly, or outdoor ambiences, but all attempts using the included recorder app are far from acceptable quality, no matter the file resolution or using inbuilt or remote mic...user ' grschinon' states in the thread /t5/Nseries-Devices-and-S60/5800-mic-or-line-level-input-for-recording-audio/m-p/479174 that an external mic can be plugged in it... could anybody please explain how?
I have the iPhone 4 and was doing face time and also calling a land line. When using face time or using the speaker phone on land line calls, the person on the other end is not able to hear me.When using the phone in regular mode others have no problem hearing me (non-speaker phone).

Now and then I get complaints from the person I talk to that the sound quality suddenly becomes very poor. The comments usually are: Oops, I think you have switch on the speaker (which I don't have). I hear a lot of noice around you. ... or
I can bearly hear you. I think you have a signal problem (which I don't have) ...or
- What happend? Are you in a cave? There is a echo problem, I can hear my own voice.
I think there is some kind of microphone feedback problem.
At all time I can still hear with good quality. The poor sound is always for the other person.
I have tried to switch the speaker on/off and mute on/off during the call but it doesn't help. The only thing to do is to hang up and call back. Then the sound is back to normal .... but can again switch back to poor quality after a while.
I bought an iPhone 4S new in box (still shrink wrapped) just this passed month from a friend. They bought it originally in October, but for some reason, never got it from AT&T until December. Sometimes after I hang up a phone call that I was on using speakerphone, the microphone is still engaged after the call has ended. The only way I can kill the microphone is to reboot the phone. There are no other apps running and no calls going on when this is happening. It is very strange. I will note that the second microphone (near ear phone jack) is also active while this is happening. I will take to Apple Store but thought I'd share to see if anyone else has seen the issue. I'm running iOS 5.1 on my AT&T iPhone 4S.

After using a Bluetooth headset, all phone audio & microphones have stopped working. Bluetooth is off and even with a wired headset or speaker, I cannot hear or be heard on a phone call. Function still not restored after shutdown, reboot, or firmware reinstall.

After struggling to get microphone to work on phone calls, I did a complete wipe and flashed the latest stock factory image.
I'm still having this issue. It's on both hangouts dialer and phone app.
When I use a voice recording app, microphone works. Google Now "OK Google" does not work though. I'm perplexed how to resolve this issue.
About a week or so ago, the handset stopped working on phone calls on my Verizon 9930. I would have to put the phone on speaker in order to hear the person on the other end. I just updated to the latest OS that was released yesterday (7.1.0.580) and the problem is still there. Can't remember what triggered the handset to stop working, as I didn't do anything different to the phone, or drop it, etc. I should add whether receiving or making the call, it doesn't work either way. Also I've tried soft pulls (alt + upper case + del) but not a battery pull. Figured the OS update worked the same as a battery pull.

i tried searching the forum and the closest similar issue I could find was one on a Storm that was stuck in headset mode. I also tried the cut off qtip cleaning method in the headset port with no luck.I haven't had the chance to try through the factory headphones (lost it) or a bluetooth setup but so far all seems that it would work. When using normal headphones (no mic) I can hear my side of a phone call just fine.
