I'm currently overseas trying to get data to work on my unlocked/unrooted S5. I'm able to use a Jamaica Digicel chip in my phone to make and receive calls and text, but can't connect to data, unless using wifi.

I just bought an xperia z5 compact and just can't connect to my wifi.
I've got no problems with public wifi such as freewifi. And I can connect with other phones to my box's wifi.
I also have the right password, name of the network etc...
I tried to restart both the box and the phone. Tried the repair option. Stamina mode is off. Data too.

I recently changed my bb 9670 style cdma for a torch 9860 gsm and now with this new bb the bis service over the wifi is not working and is the same carrier just changed the device, also i have a unlimited data plan, but in some areas where im used to stay there is bad reception so i used to be connected by wifi for my bis services, is this a problem of the gsm or RIM, i called several times to costumer assistance but they said that new os7 dont support bis over wifi, and thats not true so what u recomend to me
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both have 2014 Moto Xs on AT&T, roughly 3 weeks old. My phone is 100% great, however her phone will only connect to Wifi networks if mobile data is turned off.
I've tried everything, and can't get it to work correctly. It will either show the list of networks associated with the device with the word "disabled" under the most recent network, or be stuck on the blank "Searching for Wi-Fi networks..." screen.
My phone doesn't automatically connect to wifi when mobile data is on. I have been searching for a fix or setting since.I have ATT. My whole family has ATT. The kids both have 1st gen Moto X and my husband has Samsung, none of them have this issue and I believe we are all running the same android version.I have done lots of different things I have found along the way during my search for a fix but nothing has worked.
I can tell you that if I shut my mobile off and turn my Wifi on it will connect then I can turn my mobile back on and it will stay that way until I go out of my wifi range and the mobile kicks on then when I return to wifi range it won't connect. If I try to connect it will say disabled. That is when I turn off mobile, turn on wifi and then go back and turn mobile on again. If my mobile is off and I go out of wifi range it will connect back just fine, the issue seems to be only when mobile is ON.
I would like to be able to leave mobile on so I can receive MMS. But this is a pain because sometimes I forget that wifi didn't connect or I forget to go back in and turn mobile on and miss a lot of group texts, iphone long texts that come as MMS and pic texts until I turn my mobile on which sometimes could be days.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just starting to have this issue as when my wifi is turned off I have no data service however I can only make and receive calls. I notice the signal for my reception bar is full however I it doesn't say 4g or anything at all next to it. I restarted the phone, drove to different locations same issue. I think this started from yesterday. I also checked my mobile data setting, seems to be set correctly and it's on. Attach is a photo of signal and no data works.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into my friend's place and have tried connecting to our netgear wifi, however when searching through the available wifi list it says this network is "not in range." I am standing right next to the router so I do not understand why this is happening but I desperately need to get this solution resolved asap. Any input on how I can connect to this wifi? I've tried the obvious method of unplugging it and rebooting, but that didn't do anything. I can connect on my laptop just fine, however my S5 will not even recognize it as a viable option.
There is a picture on the router that has a lock on top of a signal, however I cannot seem to turn this off. I do not know if this is the culprit. When I try to turn it off (by clicking it or holding down the button) it merely starts blinking, however I cannot get the light pertaining to this button to turn off entirely.
When you are on data and wifi, what service is the default. Is WiFi primary, or is Data primary?
Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon network
I have both wifi and mobile date turned and my Verizon galaxy s5 with lollipop turns my data on and starts to perform an update. I go to my quick data button and it shows that data is off, but on the top of the phone it shows data is on. The only way to stop the download is to turn on airplane mode.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy first smartphone is a Galaxy S5 and I use ATT as my provider.I have had the phone since it came out and for the first few months I was using low data. ATT called me and recommend I downgrade my data plan. I followed their advice and downgraded. Anyway, about three months ago my data usage that counts on my bill went through the roof. I haven't changed anything that I am aware.
I called ATT and they told me that Data usage counting on my bill will always take precedent over WIFI when I am connected to WIFI (like in my house). As an example if I watch a movie or listen to the radio with my smartphone at my house with my WIFI connected, then my data usage used for these services will count on my bill.
Do I automatically have to disable my mobile data everytime I connect to a WIFI in order NOT to be charged? I assumed that WIFI took precedent and that as long as WIFI was connected then the data used wouldn't count on my bill. If this is true, then is there anyway to have my phone automatically disconnect when I am connected to WiFi?
I'm wondering if using Wifi (while cell data turned on) uses more than cell data (with wifi off) alone.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a new S6 on Verizon and am trying to connect to the WiFi network at my office. I'm able to connect to the WiFi at my home, but that's the only other one I've tried.
The WiFi at work uses a dual-step authentication, where you connect to the WiFi and then browse to an internet site, where you are first directed to a page where I must accept their Terms & Conditions. However, this page is never shown on my phone - the browser just said there is no network.
In fact, when I click on Connect on the WiFi entry for my office network, it says "Connecting..." and then nothing. No WiFi icon in the status bar or any error is shown.
I've shown this to our IT folks and they have no answer - they simply state that everyone else is able to connect (although I have the only S6 it seems).
I've read through the WiFi troubleshooting guide I've seen in other posts, but nothing seemed to work.
I've rebooted the phone, "forgot" the wifi and re-created it - nothing works.
The phone is running Android 5.1.1
I've contacted Verizon support and they suggested that I do a factory reset on the phone, but I hate to go to such an extreme step. Is there any way I can debug the issue to determine why it is not connecting on the WiFi?
My wifi connection works great with my home router and at my public library (where I don't need authentication) but anywhere else where I need to logon to wifi (three establishments now) , I can't connect. My password seems to get taken and from the wifi screen it looks to be connected initially but then keeps trying to connect but never actually does.

When I go into the settings>wifi I can see networks no problem but when I select one to connect to there are two options, connect and cancel. For some reason the connect option is grayed out, well actually its light blue. View 12 Replies View RelatedMy wife have Galaxy S5's, I have a Note 3 and tablets with my children also have a laptop that all connect to WIFI to internet with no problem - EXCEPT My wife GALAXY S5. The Galaxy S5 is working fine until recent upgrade to Lolipop 5. I have check my router and I could see the connection of the Galaxy S5 in the wireless device list. I have tried few approach as below none of them worked out.
1) Forgetting the connection and re-connect doesn't work.
2) I tried static IP address for connection and it doesn't work as well.
3) Even tried wipe the cache partition and it didn't work out as well.
4) Factory reset the phone and yet the internet connection via home wifi failed

I have gone into my router, can see the phone there in the list of connected devices. Checked to see if the phone was blockedIt seems that my wifi on my phone is connecting to the router, then off, then on, then off. I've tried multiple wifi connections and my s6 will connect to them but when connected nothing that requires data loads at all and as soon as I'm off wifi my phone will load everything using mobile data. I've only had the phone a few days and have used almost 3 gigs of data!
