I currently have no BIS on my curve 8520. I do have a wi-fi connection though.I thought that everything on the phone would thus work normally as long as I have wi-fi.But I see my email doesn't work as well as some other applications like google maps.what does/doesn't work with wi-fi on the phone ?
View 3 RepliesI purchased recently a second hand Blackberry Playbook and the first thing I did was a software update. After the update the device booted normally but it couldn't detect any of WiFi (802.11b/g) access points that I have home and in my work (3 different hotspots in total). I searched on the support site for the problem and I saw that some others have faced the same issue and they fix it by doing a full wipe out (factory reset). So I tried the same with no success, now my device boots and I am unable to complete the first registration that can only be done via WiFi. I also tried to re-update the device several times using the latest Desktop Software, but the result is always the same no Wifi detected.I contacted the Greek subsidiary of the store that the device purchased and they told me that I must contact with RIM central branch because the RIM support policy about this product (Playbook) is that customer gets support directly from them. The store that the Playbook originally purchased is Expansys France and I have scanned the invoice as evidence of legal purchase and valid warranty.Please advice me how can I get support for the product because I sent an email and the reply tells me that I need to submit BlackBerry inquiry via approved channel Blackberry Playbook wifi problem.

I bought an E66 handset from Carrefour in Shanghai last month, thinking that it would have full features.
With the Nokia site for China not having any information available in English, I used the Nokia site from Oman (where I am currently living) to research the specifications.
It was not until I returned to Oman that I realized that the E66 sold in China and the E66 sold elsewhere was not actually the same phone.
The phone that I bought is missing key features that persuaded me to buy it in the first place. It is missing:
Front camera.
3G capabilities.
WiFi connectivity.
Lifetime navigation with OviMaps.
Plus a range of other features that I was looking for.
This is marketed as a business phone, yet is missing the features I need to properly conduct business.
I do not understand why a global brand such as Nokia would ensure that the E66 model would have the same features universally.
I am thoroughly upset and disappointed at Nokia; having been a Nokia user for more than 12 years I have been let down by the brand that I have remained loyal to. Essentially, I was misled into buying a very bad phone.
Is there any way that you can explain the reasons behind the difference in the Chinese and Global E66 and/or equip me with an E66 that has the features I am looking for?
I just updated my 9790 from OS7 to OS7.1. The update went fine but I don't have the hotspot or the wifi calling features. What do I do to get it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last several weeks neither the WiFi nor the Bluetooth will turn on. When selecting to turn on WiFi is starts to turn on then stops and displays Error. About 75% of the time after attempting to turn on the WiFi the phone will reboot. I have factory reset the phone and the WiFi and Bluetooth will work once after the reset but once the phone sleeps neither WiFi nor Bluetooth will operate. This is even after a power down. I have checked my settings and can't find anything that would cause this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it is because I have not got Contacts sync set up properly, or even whether these settings can be tweaked, but the synchronisation between the Contacts list on my BB9900 and Gmail Contacts for addresses (i.e. building addresses) completely screws up the field parsing!
For instance: I enter somebody's address on my BB, making use of the separate Address 1; Address 2; City; County/Region; Postcode; and Country fields as appropriate, then when I check back an hour later, the entire address has been moved into the Address 1 field (with the other fields empty), I presume as a result of Gmail Contacts syncing?
Note: I DO NOT use Google Sync; I just have the Contacts synchronisation option checked in Email Setup for my gmail address. I used to use Google Sync but I recently removed it from my previous handset (9700), as it used to duplicate/triplicate/n-tuplicate my Contacts and Calendar entries! Surely this isn't the way syncing is supposed to work? Is there a way of mapping the fields between BB device and Gmail Contact list, so that this doesn't happen?
I recently upgraded from my 9300 to a bold 9780 and my e-mails are not activating on my new device. I canelled ... what i think i needed to on the 9300 but my e-mail still displays on the display of the 9300 and the transfer to the 9780 just not happening. I had some colleagues look at it as well and we cant seem to get it to work.

When I have my data settings on, I am able to perform all the BlackBerry functions, such as BBM, Email, etc. When I turn off data, and am on a Wifi network, I can only use the browser, There is no connection to the BlackBerry service. This problem is with all the people I know on Loop Mobile. With other users on Vodafone or Airtel, only wifi works perfectly fine.Please help! When I goto to setup I can connect, and it appears to connect, then when I goto the main screen it is not connected. My playbook is a few months old (and I have connected to many Wifis) and I recently updated (mid-feb) to the new operating system, but it has been working fine until yesterday.
