Motorola Droid Turbo :: WiFi All Of A Sudden Doesn't Work At Work But Will At Home?
Oct 20, 2015
Droid Turbo (Android Version 5.1) - WIFI works fine at home and seems to work other places. I have been using it for months at work. Recently I cannot connect. Other people can still connect. I had the connection saved...but even tried deleting it and researching, but it won't locate the server.
OK ever since I connected my Bluetooth to a portable speaker device I've been having trouble with the external speaker itself. Usually when I watch YouTube videos or play music through the music app its more than normal loud. But now ever since my Bluetooth device connected to my droid turbo (Bluetooth has been turned off to watch videos) the speaker isn't loud at all. When I put my ear to the speaker grill I can hear the sound come out of my internal speaker for phone calls.
So, I used to be able to listen to music at work without using my data plan. I could just connect to the guest wifi. Selecting the "Click to connect" would bring up the web page where we log in and I was up and running. Now when I select "Click to connect", I just get a big lock with a cross through it. Selecting "Use network as is" doesn't do anything.
The only time I was successful in getting WIFI to work was connecting to the OPEN connection at a Lexus Dealership. I've tried numerous times to connect to my home wireless network without success. It shows connected, but there is absolutely no Intenet. This is inexcusable for such a prominent technology company as Motorola! In my view, I believe that Motorola has omitted the WEP key or WPA key in their WIFI set-up. Does anyone else agree to that assessment? I have an electronic engineering degree and have been involved with technology since I was in high school and I would think that Motorola would answer this problem with a software update. I am sure it affects all of their smartphones with supposed WIFI capability. Other than the WIFI issue it is a great smartphone even without 4G!
Droid X on Verizon version 4.5.602.MB810 Hate to sound like a broken record...Phone says connected to access point, but unable to connect to internet. I've seen many old posts about this, but nothing works. All other hardware that connects to same access point works fine.
I like to keep wifi active all the time when at home. So, I set the wifi sleep policy to NEVER (advanced wifi option) but...when the screen goes dark, my wifi immediately disconnects. I confirmed this by pinging the ip address of my Droid x2 from a computer. When the screen is lit the wifi goes active and I get a reply to the pings. When the screen goes dark after the 30 sec screen timeout, the pings no longer work, and I am no longer connected via wifi or 3g. In fact, there is no data connection at all.
I even tried the other wifi sleep policy settings, but they don't seem to change a thing. Bottom line is when I am connected to wifi and the screen goes dark, I loose all data connectivity & loose the ability to receive gmail and Touchdown email notifications.
I just recevice the X2, upgraded from the Droid X. I used to have a Droid X and the "never" sleep policy option worked just perfectly. Why is it not working on the X2? I am running 2.3.4.
My voice search doesn't work when I am on wifi data. It keeps thinking over and over and comes back with no results. But when I switch to mobile data network it works fine and returns the results right away. I can not even use speech to text feature while on wifi it, it does the same thing as voice search on wifi. I am not able to find out what the problem is. The formatting was incorrectly checked causing all caps. Just changed the formatting to correct that.
Has anyone noticed that since the update the facebook for android app doesn't work very good unless on wifi. Even with a strong 4g signial it will just say loading for up to a minute before it completes loading. Before the update the app would always load very fast. I have cleared data on the app and uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does the same thing.
I did a manual update to Gingerbread this morning and had a number of issues. For example, I had to uninstall Open Home 6 due to extreme lag (it worked great with Froyo) and I had a bunch of app icons that no longer worked. The most annoying issue though is that the new way of adding apps to the home screen doesn't work. I can add apps to groups, but if I select "Add to Home" nothing happens. If I long press on the screen and pick shortcut-applications I can add the app and the shortcut works fine. Not really impressed with Gingerbread so far
I've been using my Wifi connection (from home) lately, I had no troubles what-so-ever. I turned on my 3G network this morning, and again, everything's going perfectly fine with my connection. I came home around half 4 from school and decided to turn on my WiFi connection at home, what I've realized is that whenever I try turning on my WiFi network, the little sign that's usually at the top doesn't appear anymore. I tried resetting the network settings and closing and opening my phone, but.. This didn't really make any difference.I have tried reconnecting to my WiFi but nothing happened, my Bluetooth's never really turned on.
The camera doesn't work. I open the camera application with both methods (button on side and icon in apps) but it does the red dot thing in the corner for about 4-6 seconds then disappears and applications tells me the app is running. I try to go to the app but it wont go on it.
Problem 2:
The green key, dialler and contacts icon on the home screen do not work at all. I have no way of opening my dialler as there is no option for it.
I updated my firmware to v40.0.005 last week. Please be aware the problems were both there BEFORE i made the update and are still here after the update. Is there any way of doing this without soft/hard resetting. Also, does soft/hard reset mean you lose the data in an app (eg your high scores in a game like bagatelle)?
I am a relatively new Motorola Droid Turbo user. My phone is usually on either silent or really loud. I've found the "Sleep" mode which has been useful and I see that there is a "Meeting" mode which is great. But is there a way that I can set the phone to just vibrate from 8AM to 6PM Monday through Friday?
I have had the Droid Turbo for just over a week now. My notification sounds for my texts, my yahoo email and also Facebook will work for a day or two and then they will all stop working. I have tried running the phone in safe mode and that did not work. If I reboot the phone the ywill start working again but only for a day or two.
I use Google Voice via the Hangouts app as a secondary phone line on my Droid Turbo.
The issue I am having is with phone calls that come in to my Google Voice number. Instead of using only the Hangouts Dialer app to receive those calls, the calls seem to come through Hangouts AND the default DT dialer app at the same time! What ends up happening is that first, the Hangouts app starts to ring, then (second) the default DT dialer app start up and rings over the Hangouts dialer. The end result is that when I pick up the call on the DT dialer app, I always get a missed call on Hangouts. In addition, if I miss the call completely I then get a missed call notification from both Hangouts and the default dialer app.
Around a week ago when I turned my motorola quench on I found that a bunch of settings were reset including the passcode lock and my choice to use the swype keyboard. Although I was able to change those back easily enough, my home button since then does not work. In order to close an app, I now have to use the back button (which means losing my pages if I am in a web browser). The command for pressing the home button twice still works.
I am having real issues with my Droid Turbo. I can pair the phone fine with bluethooth fine to Ford Sync and it plays audio fine. The steering controls work fine too until the phone locks or sleeps. I tried many different music apps and every setting in the screen and security settings. It works fine when I swipe the phone to click the button to wake it up it works fine.
I have Motorola DEXT Motoblur ORANGE and yes it is unlocked...When on home network wifi turns on but no signal. YES i have router ON, also I have tried all over the city to get free wifi or any wifi signal at all and nothing. When on roaming when I travel it works perfect. Signal, multiple networks, internet works great... When I come back to my home network same story again...
I have a few problems with the Atrix 2 and curious if others see these things.First...I really like this phone. I like the size, the weight, the speed, the apps, etc. was annoying enough that I decided to use my bluetooth headset. The sound improved immeasurably by doing that. But, I noticed that while at work, listening to music, that I couldn't turn on wifi while I had bluetooth engaged. The music would haltingly play, like a skipping disk, until, finally, after about 30 seconds it stops altogether. As soon as I turned off wifi, the bluetooth playing would reengage where it left off and play perfectly.I also notice that with the plugged in mic or with my bluetooth headphones connected, if a call comes in while I'm listening to something, about 1/2 the time, the phone wouldn't ring or vibrate.
My GPS worked splendidly for about a year with the Droid X. Now it really doesn't work at all. On Google Maps the circle never goes below a kilometer, and even with that it is usually wrong. When I try and use it to Navigate, it never tells me where to turn and I get lost because it isn't getting a signal.
I checked, and all settings were on for GPS. I restarted the phone and pulled the battery. I installed GPS Status and tried to Manage A-GPS state. First I reset, and that didn't work. Then I Downloaded and that didn't work either. The app thinks it is doing something but no satellites show up and the radar even outdoors and even not moving.
I have set my Wifi Sleep Policy to "Never", because i like to strem my music with DLNA App to my HiFi, and i'm also downloading with Torrent App some TV Shows.Music Streamin works fine with Original DLNA app from Atrix, but only until the Display turns off. Then it stoped everything.I also set DLNA to never sleep and i also tried Battery set to "Performace". It simply doesn't work. With Torrent app from the Market also the same problem. I tried several apps. After the display is turned off there are no transfers.I own also Samsung Galaxy Tablet. With this device i don't have any of these problems. The funny thing is that the original DLNA app from Atrix simply don't stream the music after the display turnes off.
So, we've discussed this in other forums. There are hundreds that experience this problem. The volume will not raise or lower when the screen is off. (Such as holding it up to your ear.) You have to take the phone away from your ear and turn on the screen before you can change the volume. So, will they be fixing this any time soon? I know that theyre working on the hotspot, but this affects more users. Some have thought that this was put in by design to keep someone from inadvertently raising the volume while talking. If th the case, then Motorola needs to give us an option to turn this setting off. Many owners are upset about this. e heard that the volume will raise if you repeatedly press it. m on my second Razr and I can honestly tell you that neither worked this way.
I've noticed something strange on my Bionic. If I enable any of the screen lock mechanisms (password, pin, or pattern), the home and search keys stop working. I have to hit the back key multiple times if I'm within an app to get back to my homescreen so I can open the app drawer.
Voice input quits working when I place the phone in the car dock. Voice search (the app you get to by holding search) and Soundhound give me errors every time I try to use them with the vehicle dock connected. If I disconnect the vehicle dock, they work again, and as soon as I reconnect it they quit working.
Strangely enough, the app "Text by Voice" seems to be unaffected.
I have this problem on my new RAZR MAXX as well as my Bionic. After using a Bluetooth stereo headset or Bluetooth in the car, once the connection drops, the phone's speaker stops working for awhile. For instance, you might get a call and the phone doesn't ring, or you might play some music and the speaker is silent. This usually clears up after stopping and starting the music again, or if you get a second phone call it will ring.
When in a phone call I can't hear jack out of my earpiece speaker, have to put it on speaker phone to hear anything...So is there a software bug, or do I have to warranty out my device?
