Motorola Droid Razr HD :: Voice Commands In Vehicle Mode Not Working?
Nov 27, 2012I'm using a RAZR MAXX HD with the Motorola vehicle dock. I've enabled the Smart Actions for turning on Vehicle Mode when I drop it in the dock, and I like this for the most part. When I get a text message, a popup notifies me that I've received one, and prompts me to "Say listen to hear this message." However, I've only been able to get the damn thing to recognize me saying "listen" once, out of several dozen times this has happened. I don't have an accent (I'm from California) and have a fairly loud voice. Any tricks to getting this to work? I've tried louder, quieter, faster, slower, weird pronunciations, cursing at it... no luck!
I'm pretty certain it's actually picking up me saying "listen" because I see a little popup bubble on the screen saying something like "Waiting for speech" then after I speak it will show "listen listen listen".
For what it's worth, voice input seems to work just fine in any native Google app (search, navigation). It's just the (Moto?) Vehicle Mode ones that hardly ever work.

Does anyone know of / own a case for the Razr Maxx HD that still allows the phone to fit in the dock? I don't want to have to pull the case off to dock it every time I get in the car.

Dec 27, 2012After the Jelly Bean update I want to throw the vehicle mount out the window almost every day! they removed any way to get to your home screens while the phone is mounted in the vehicle dock.When the phone is docked in a Motorola vehicle mount the phones "Home" button always takes you to the Vehicle Dock software rather than your home screen. In the past that was fine because the Vehcile Dock software provided another way to get to your home screen. Before the Jelly Bean update, when the phone was docked you just tapped the home icon in the lower left corner of the Vehicle Dock application. Now after the Jelly Bean update that home icon has been replaced with a back button. That button now takes you to the last active app rather than the home screen (something you could also do by touching the "recent apps" button).
This works fine to take you to the home screen if that was the last thing you were doing before mounting the phone in the vehicle dock and you haven't started any other app. Once you start doing something like navigating to a location, the back button will just take you to that running app. Is there a way to get to your home screens without removing the phone from the dock? Or, Is there an app that will just take you to your home screen, as if you had touched the phones "home" button? I could add that as one of the 6 apps that can be added to the Vehicle Dock application.

Jul 13, 2012So I use the Vehicle Nav Dock a lot. I live in NC, where we've had record heat (6 days straight of 103+ temps) and I leave my dock suction cupped to my windshield. Probably not the smartest idea as now the dock itself is warped and I have to give it a little bit of elbow grease to get it to lock in and connect.It hasn't lost any functionality and I love the new look of the dock and the ability to access any of your apps from the nav screen with the ICS update.

Then, one day, it doesn't work at all. I had it set to default to "Desk Dock" but now evertime the "smart charger" is plugged in, the screen goes black and says "Unfortunately, Desk Dock has stopped". Aug 5, 2012Around a week ago when I turned my motorola quench on I found that a bunch of settings were reset including the passcode lock and my choice to use the swype keyboard. Although I was able to change those back easily enough, my home button since then does not work. In order to close an app, I now have to use the back button (which means losing my pages if I am in a web browser). The command for pressing the home button twice still works.

Feb 4, 2012So, we've discussed this in other forums. There are hundreds that experience this problem. The volume will not raise or lower when the screen is off. (Such as holding it up to your ear.) You have to take the phone away from your ear and turn on the screen before you can change the volume. So, will they be fixing this any time soon? I know that theyre working on the hotspot, but this affects more users. Some have thought that this was put in by design to keep someone from inadvertently raising the volume while talking. Jul 22, 2012My voice search doesn't work when I am on wifi data. It keeps thinking over and over and comes back with no results. But when I switch to mobile data network it works fine and returns the results right away. I can not even use speech to text feature while on wifi it, it does the same thing as voice search on wifi. I am not able to find out what the problem is. The formatting was incorrectly checked causing all caps. Just changed the formatting to correct that.

Even with a strong 4g signial it will just say loading for up to a minute before it completes loading. Before the update the app would always load very fast. Voice search (the app you get to by holding search) and Soundhound give me errors every time I try to use them with the vehicle dock connected. If I disconnect the vehicle dock, they work again, and as soon as I reconnect it they quit working.
Strangely enough, the app "Text by Voice" seems to be unaffected.

Feb 22, 2012Wasnt just a mere week ago, I had un installed and re installed the Motocast Software; all was fine til about a day or two ago when I noticed that my Shortcut icon of Motocast is no more; want a pic? I'll upload it in a min.
Well once again this is my weekend and again I usually use Motocast on my days off and lol once again I'm having issues. Tried playing back a video file but alas stops within 30seconds. I play again and it stops within 30seconds. Or Ill start to play a file and it takes seconds upon seconds upon seconds just to play the video file.
I do enable Wifi prior to using Motocast so I wouldnt think it has to do with that; but I am pretty sure that when my graphic shortcut icon goes corrupt so does my actual application for it to work properly.
Question is, why does it keep happening? Is it because my Windows Operating System performs some sort of update and causes it go haywire?

The camera doesn't work. I open the camera application with both methods (button on side and icon in apps) but it does the red dot thing in the corner for about 4-6 seconds then disappears and applications tells me the app is running. I try to go to the app but it wont go on it.
Problem 2:
The green key, dialler and contacts icon on the home screen do not work at all. I have no way of opening my dialler as there is no option for it.
I updated my firmware to v40.0.005 last week. Please be aware the problems were both there BEFORE i made the update and are still here after the update.Is there any way of doing this without soft/hard resetting. Also, does soft/hard reset mean you lose the data in an app (eg your high scores in a game like bagatelle)?

Jun 1, 2011I did a manual update to Gingerbread this morning and had a number of issues. For example, I had to uninstall Open Home 6 due to extreme lag (it worked great with Froyo) and I had a bunch of app icons that no longer worked. The most annoying issue though is that the new way of adding apps to the home screen doesn't work. I can add apps to groups, but if I select "Add to Home" nothing happens. If I long press on the screen and pick shortcut-applications I can add the app and the shortcut works fine. Not really impressed with Gingerbread so far
