Motorola Droid Razr HD :: Desktop Mode Force Closes, Will Not Work?
Dec 14, 2012
I have searched for an answer to this, so if it is out there, I apologize. I have a stock Razr Maxx HD running Jelly Bean.his problem actually started with ICS, and I thought Jelly Bean would fix it, but it hasn't.I have the "flip stand with smart charger" and for a while, desktop mode worked great with it. Then, one day, it doesn't work at all. I had it set to default to "Desk Dock" but now evertime the "smart charger" is plugged in, the screen goes black and says "Unfortunately, Desk Dock has stopped". It will not work.into the Desk Dock app under All Apps in my settings to clear data and that didn't work either
For some reason, I have 2 constant issues with my razr. My keyboard force closes constantly. And I get frequent homescreen bugs where the apps are not perfectly aligned.
When I have the App Drawer open and I press the search key, the Homescreen force closes with the following message: "The application Homescreen (process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." It consistently happens.
I am having force closes of system processes on my bionic. I have done a factory reset several times to which a day later the issues recur. Are there any files or something I can flash that will allow me to try and format everything and start over? When the errors pop up I try to recreate the issue and one out of 5 times I am able to do so. I have tried battery pulls and several factory resets/wiping everything. It even froze up and force closed on my one time when I was about to do the reset..
Like many of the other users on this forum, I have wireless problems with my Droid 2. I would like to try to change some of the Advanced settings under Wi-Fi Settings, such as Peer to peer channel, but when I do the settings app force closes. I have never been successful in making a change here.
I've had ice cream sandwich for about two weeks. Since then I can't stream video when I'm in desktop mode. Android mode is very limited. I called verizon, they called motorola. Motorola said streaming is no longer supported on desktop mode with ICS. The crappy part is she could not report the problem, I was to explain my problem on this forum so the software poeaple could read this. I've got better things to do than registering for a forum so someone might read this and get streaming back. Not a happy camper with ICS.
I recently upgraded from a Bionic to a RAZR MAXX, and really liking the phone except for one thing: whilst it performs great at my home, it spends a lot of time falling back from LTE to 3G at my work. There is LTE coverage at my work, anywhere between 1-3 bars, whereas 3G is 4-5 bars. I understand the 3G signal is stronger, however the LTE signal is still strong enough to actually work, and I really DO NOT want the RAZR preferring the slower 3G signal at my work, as one of the main tasks I use it for is as a hotspot.
The Bionic used to consistently remain on LTE at my work, however a couple of weeks ago it had begun exhibiting similar behaviour as the RAZR MAXX above - preferring the 3G signal over the LTE.i initially thought Verizon must have made some network changes here - and it's possible they did - however as a test I put my SIM back into my old HTC Thunderbolt, which I had before either the Bionic or the RAZR MAXX.
The Thunderbolt consistently holds the LTE signal and does NOT fall back to 3G.Since the Bionic and RAZR MAXX perform differently to the Thunderbolt, I'm guessing it's either some Motorola vs HTC RF chipset difference, or perhaps the algorithms in the Motorola phones purposely selecting 3G to preserve battery. Is there any way to force the RAZR MAXX to hold on to the LTE signal, rather than keep falling back to the 3G signal? Perhaps in some app, or some super-secret debug mode? It's a RAZR MAXX - I don't mind sacrificing some battery to hold on the the weaker-but-faster LTE signal.
I saw this app called Analytics Viewer running on my Razr. What is this app? Is it something Motorola put in? The permissions are extensive. It cannot be uninstalled or force stopped.
Somewhere in all the options I had found a place where I could choose to force close/stop certain applications after a period of time after I've closed them. I can't find the setting anywhere..
I have a Droid Razr and my carrier is Verizon. Ever since the motorola update on friday, 2/17 I cannot open 2 email accounts (bellsouth and godaddy) They both disappeared from my email icon and altough they are listed in My accounts they have a new green icon next to the name and underneath the email address it says com.motorola.blur.provider.email. The update didn't effect my gmail account. I have spoke to several Verizon reps and a Motorola rep after removing sims card, turning off and on and several soft resets nothing has worked. When I held down the email name in My Accounts it forces close. It says the application My Accounts (process com.motorola setup)has stopped unexpectedly pease try again.
Yesterday, saw message that Verizon had OTA ICS on my phone...said upgrade would talk 15 minutes and reboot.45 minutes later, all I see is emergency dialer. time to power down and reboot...still just emergency dialer. Called verizon support...after a couple more reboots, tech says do factory reset. This works (although after downloading all my apps during the day, the phone, when rebooted to try to fix the microSD issue, went back into Emergency Dial only mode and I did yet another factory reset...ugggghhh!.)o after perusing the forums, I find that the encryption key is genereated using the MEID (by default, I don't remember which I used when I set the encryption, not that it matters). and is stored on that nice internal storage that gets wiped during the factory reset. So now, the ICS Razr will not mount the microSD card (I am sure, based on the other forums I have visited, that my data is in a better, unusable, place).
My wife just got the Droid Razr after her X went bad. I was trying to set up her email accounts and the force close kept popping up. I tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
The initial shine of the 3.1 patch to fix shortcomings in orginal 3.1 upgrade has tarnished.I'm now experiancing regular "Not Responding" messages while browsing, and if you select "wait" rather than "close", the entire system freezes. This results in me having to hold the UP volume button and power button until it does a hard shut down.
been wondering if anyone has been all of a sudden getting all kinds of force closes for no reason at all then freezes up so bad you can't turn off for 20 min and clock freezes in time
Ever since the ICS update my battery life is 2x worse than before on Gingerbread. I have noticed on here that I am not the only one with this issue. Is there and options I can do to improve battery life? I noticed there is no way to toggle back and forth betwen 3G and 4G and background data cant be turned off now. I have also noticed they got rid of the task manager that actually worked and force quit the apps. I had to force quit ever app manually ever since the update. Every app was running in the background. I got this phone for the extended battery life and if I dont use the phone all day and by the end of the night I have 20% battery left, something is wrong. ICS has a lot of great features, but if I had a chance to un-install ICS I would.
I have the motorola xoom wifi edition since January this year. When i try and use my video camera it will force close. The photo camera is fine but when i press to switch to video it freezes, the flash comes on and it force closes
I put my Droid Razr in a stand on my desktop, usually in horizontal, landscape orientation.I'd really like it if I could get the home desktop to rotate. Is there an option setting that would allow the home screens to autorotate when the phone is sideways?FYI: the fake dock toggles downloaded from the Play app store stopped working last week; I assume because of the "maintenance" update from Verizon (though I haven't actually checked to see if I got that or not.
For those of you who want to view websites in desktop mode on your mobile I would first recommend you just use Dolphin browser. They have an easy toggle add on that you can go back and forth between mobile and desktop modes very quickly. If you must have the stock Android browser I have a trick for you too. Open up stock browser, in the url type "about:debug" Nothing will appear to happen. Now press menu>More>Settings>(in debug area) UAString>Desktop. You may have to refresh the Page for the new settings to take effect. Now you are surfing in desktop mode!
The effect Airplane Mode has on the GPS and mobile network radios. Specifically, is it possible to use only the GPS in Airplane Mode, leaving the other radios off, or must I disable airplane Mode and deny data access (leaving the mobile radios on) in order to use the GPS?
I really hate how I have to choose a set time to have my phone go to sleep. I watch the stock market while I am working at my computer and using my phone and it will automatically go to sleep after a set time that only goes up to 10 minutes with the new ICS 4.0.4. Why can't I deactivate this? This is really annoying.
I bought the HDMI dock (not HD station) and while I'm plugged in with it to my tv my phone keeps freezing. The screen turns black on the tv. I imagine it's because it loses the HDMI signal. I have to do a hard reset. This is not some random thing. It always does it while I'm on the internet. Or the facebook app. I can stream Netflix without a hitch but as soon as I jump on line the phone freezes. Could it be the phone? HDMI dock? Or the radio shack HDMI cable and mini HDMI to regular HDMI converter? Right now I'm connected to the HDMI dock but not on mirror mode. Just using my phone. I wonder if I connect the HDMI cable straight to my phone will the same thing happen? I'll try and report back. I just trued connecting te hdmi cord straight ti te phine and no freezes. Only problem is unlike when im connected to the dock the screen on to the tv is not full size and vĂdeo quality is not good. I used the web top app and it never froze. It only happens in mirror mode.
I bought the new Droid Razr M on09/13/2012. It randomly goes into emergency mode. I contacted Verizon about the issue and they said they will notify Motorola. get the same issue or a different issue?
I dont get when we're told about an upgrade, that you find it acceptable to TAKE AWAY features? i have been choosing Android over Apple for years for things such as USB Mass Storage mode. I know people who plug their phones in USB to their car CD Players and use it as if it were a flash drive. Now those users who may just have purchased a new phone are now screwed. You add features for upgrades not remove them. I am shocked and truthfully appualed to see where this new type of developer planning can lead to. Next were going to get pushed onto the cloud. If I'm going to remain an Android enthusiast and recommend Android to others you will not take away the things that brought me to Android! I could seriously put my Env touch before ever getting the FIRST OG Droid in Mass Storage Mode. This is not being posted to ruffle the feathers of users on this forum. This is intended as a wake up call to the developers to realize it was us phone enthusiasts that started this smart phone revolution anyways. We ousted Blackberry when they started acting like a bunch of tools. Don't do the same.
There is no macro mode listed in the RAZR M's camera settings. Is this because the stock app does not support macro (merely a software thing) or is it a camera hardware feature that is missing on the M camera?
My phone dialer and related apps, including "Contacts" will only display in vertical portrait orientation. Have tried starting in landscape and rotating to landscape and rotating back and forth, but no luck. Also dialer, when it is on a call will only show in portrait mode.
I've been getting Bluetooth input lag when using mirror mode. I have a RII Mini Mouse/Keyboard combo which lags as soon as Mirror Mode is activated. The Mouse/Keyboard works perfectly outside of Mirror Mode. I also tried a logitech mouse (mouse only) and had the same choppy/laggy results. I tried both the RII and Logitech with wifi off, again with 4G off and again with both wifi and 4G off. This did not improve results.
I am using a mini HDMI to standard HDMI cable to connect to my monitor and TV. I get the same results on both screens. I have also tried at different battery levels with the charger connected and disconnected. This happens every time I choose something from "Select Dock Type". If I dismiss that prompt after connecting HDMI i do not have the lag (prompt is dismissed by hitting home or back button when prompted). If I do choose a dock type the lag starts and does not stop until i disconnect HDMI.
steps are listed below for verizon customers only with 4G Devices with " ICS or Jelly Bean "
how to switch from 4G to CDMA mode verizon devices.
For whatever reason, Verizon and Motorola have removed the option under Mobile Network Settings to switch to "CDMA Only" in the Ice Cream Sandwich update that is headed to RAZRs over the next few days. For anyone that doesn't have a RAZR MAXX, this is a problem, as LTE destroys batteries faster than you can charge them. In place of the former "CDMA Only" option is a "Global" feature for those that travel the world. Why they didn't leave the old option and simply add "Global" to the list is a great mystery, but don't worry, we have a way to get you onto 3G and saving batteries in just a few steps.
I wanted to test booting into safe mode so I followed the directions here. I did get the "safe mode" in the lower left hand corner of the screen. But soon after that it restarted by itself and started back up in normal mode. I tried that 3 time and the same thing happened.
