Motorola Droid 2 :: R2D2 Force Closes When Trying To Change Wireless
May 10, 2011
Like many of the other users on this forum, I have wireless problems with my Droid 2. I would like to try to change some of the Advanced settings under Wi-Fi Settings, such as Peer to peer channel, but when I do the settings app force closes. I have never been successful in making a change here.
When I have the App Drawer open and I press the search key, the Homescreen force closes with the following message: "The application Homescreen (process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." It consistently happens.
I am having force closes of system processes on my bionic. I have done a factory reset several times to which a day later the issues recur. Are there any files or something I can flash that will allow me to try and format everything and start over? When the errors pop up I try to recreate the issue and one out of 5 times I am able to do so. I have tried battery pulls and several factory resets/wiping everything. It even froze up and force closed on my one time when I was about to do the reset..
I have searched for an answer to this, so if it is out there, I apologize. I have a stock Razr Maxx HD running Jelly Bean.his problem actually started with ICS, and I thought Jelly Bean would fix it, but it hasn't.I have the "flip stand with smart charger" and for a while, desktop mode worked great with it. Then, one day, it doesn't work at all. I had it set to default to "Desk Dock" but now evertime the "smart charger" is plugged in, the screen goes black and says "Unfortunately, Desk Dock has stopped". It will not work.into the Desk Dock app under All Apps in my settings to clear data and that didn't work either
For some reason, I have 2 constant issues with my razr. My keyboard force closes constantly. And I get frequent homescreen bugs where the apps are not perfectly aligned.
The initial shine of the 3.1 patch to fix shortcomings in orginal 3.1 upgrade has tarnished.I'm now experiancing regular "Not Responding" messages while browsing, and if you select "wait" rather than "close", the entire system freezes. This results in me having to hold the UP volume button and power button until it does a hard shut down.
been wondering if anyone has been all of a sudden getting all kinds of force closes for no reason at all then freezes up so bad you can't turn off for 20 min and clock freezes in time
I have the motorola xoom wifi edition since January this year. When i try and use my video camera it will force close. The photo camera is fine but when i press to switch to video it freezes, the flash comes on and it force closes
I have am using an X10 mini pro and when attempting to launch the messaging app, it crashes and i have to force close. I have the latest software (2.1.1.A.0.6) and 2.1 firmware.
It started when simply viewing a message, I had not installed anything recently.
my email app and my browser have been force closong randomly but now my homescreen, I have to restart it or wait 10 minutes. what is the problem, why cant sony update the phone. I have sent emails to sony to tell how to stop but no response? I will get another phone if they dont fix this. I have recieved the worst suport from sony which i didnt expect from such a big company.
Just recently when I access my gmail app on my phone, I have no way of scrolling up or down. It also freezes once I open it and the only way to get off of the screen is hitting the home button which freaks the phone out. I have also seen an error message which I did not take down the exact file launcher problem it was encountering.
updated last night and now when i go into the calander i get the message "The process com. android.calander has stopped unexpectently. please try again." then i have to press force close. Also the pinch/zoon works fine on the internet but differently when on photos that i have taken. You cannot pinch, to zoom you have to drag your finger up and it vibrates when you touch the screen and a white streak comes up on the pic while you are draging your finger, visa verse to zoom out.
I've had my phone since April and has recently started to experience a lot of problems with the handset. I'm best mentioning that my technical know-how is very limited in terms of phones, but I've accepted the fact I'm going to have to run a factory reset on my phone. So the problems I'm experiencing:- All of a sudden, apps start crashing one after the other. So much so that I can't even turn the phone off properly and just have to hold the power button down until it goes off itself.- Sometimes it just freezes, and when it does, it rapidly drains the battery.- Other times it just randomly decides to turn itself off (this has happened during the night resulting in me sleeping in for work because my alarm has failed to go off!)- When apps have crashed and I've had to turn it on and off again, all information stored (ie. texts, photos, Twitter feed) after the 16th October is gone!I've even went on Kies Air to start transferring photos, videos, etc. to my laptop, but even that keeps crashing, meaning it constantly disconnects from the laptop. I cleared out a lot of old apps I don't use anymore, but they reappear when I turn it back on, resetting back to pre-16th October like I mentioned.
My wife just got the Droid Razr after her X went bad. I was trying to set up her email accounts and the force close kept popping up. I tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
I downloaded the new update 2 days ago. Since that time when i try to access the internet, after just several seconds, I get an error message :The application Browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. " Then an option to force close.
My Bionic was working fine all day. I put it my hip pouch and when I got it out in the car about 5 minutes later it had powered off and will not respond to the power button.I have reseated the battery a few times, including leaving it out for 8 hours. I tried another battery in the store but no change. I have tried the power button with one or both of the volume buttons pressed. To no avail. There is no response from it when it is connected to a charger but if I connect it to a PC USB cable with the battery removed I get a solid white notification LED. This is the only response I get of any kind but keeps me hoping that something is alive in there!!
Just to reiterate the phone was not dropped or anything, nor had it done any s/w updates as I have it set to update only when on WiFi, which it was not.Verizon are sending a replacement but I have a load of data and info and of course most of that is on the internal memory and I won't be able to recover it. Since I am an engineer working with software you wouold assume that I would have had it fully backed up as I do with the devices I work on .... but I kept meaning to get to that!! Please no responses of "You should have had it backed up". I know that and right now that won't help!!Does anyone have any ideas about forcing a reset that might get it to power up? I notice behind the battery cover that there are 4 open pins about half way up the case on the right (when looking from the back). I didn't know if these have any reset functionality
I recently upgraded from a Bionic to a RAZR MAXX, and really liking the phone except for one thing: whilst it performs great at my home, it spends a lot of time falling back from LTE to 3G at my work. There is LTE coverage at my work, anywhere between 1-3 bars, whereas 3G is 4-5 bars. I understand the 3G signal is stronger, however the LTE signal is still strong enough to actually work, and I really DO NOT want the RAZR preferring the slower 3G signal at my work, as one of the main tasks I use it for is as a hotspot.
The Bionic used to consistently remain on LTE at my work, however a couple of weeks ago it had begun exhibiting similar behaviour as the RAZR MAXX above - preferring the 3G signal over the LTE.i initially thought Verizon must have made some network changes here - and it's possible they did - however as a test I put my SIM back into my old HTC Thunderbolt, which I had before either the Bionic or the RAZR MAXX.
The Thunderbolt consistently holds the LTE signal and does NOT fall back to 3G.Since the Bionic and RAZR MAXX perform differently to the Thunderbolt, I'm guessing it's either some Motorola vs HTC RF chipset difference, or perhaps the algorithms in the Motorola phones purposely selecting 3G to preserve battery. Is there any way to force the RAZR MAXX to hold on to the LTE signal, rather than keep falling back to the 3G signal? Perhaps in some app, or some super-secret debug mode? It's a RAZR MAXX - I don't mind sacrificing some battery to hold on the the weaker-but-faster LTE signal.
Unable to dial from contacts. As soon as any contact is selected "The application Contacts Storage (process com.motorola.contacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I saw this app called Analytics Viewer running on my Razr. What is this app? Is it something Motorola put in? The permissions are extensive. It cannot be uninstalled or force stopped.
Today I tried to look for something in my Gallery - it keeps force closing. I tried powering the phone off and on and also did a battery pull, it still does not work. I can get into the folder where I have taken pictures via the camera, but can't access anything else.
Somewhere in all the options I had found a place where I could choose to force close/stop certain applications after a period of time after I've closed them. I can't find the setting anywhere..
I did erased cache I did restarted....now I did factory reset and still its doing it. I tried to erase email account by clicking 'my accounts' but can't even open this..
What a stress.....I don't have any problem with gmail. Its just other email (msn. corporate email) that I have in addition to gmail... what it does exactly is,
1. I click 'messaging' from home screen.
2. it opens with white background not showing any icon for msn or corp-email.
3. as soon as it covers white background it just comes back to home screen.
Starting Sunday evening Tweetdeck kept force-closing on me before I could make a post. I was still able to use Twitter's official mobile app & Facebook's official mobile app. By 5pm last night (Monday/Halloween) NONE of the social network apps were working. This included Tweetdeck, Twitter official, Facebook official, Hoot Suite, Google+, AND even when I accessed Twitter's normal site via browser. I've turned the phone on & off several times and that hasn't done anything.
I was having a issue with the Slacker app that came preinstalled on my Bionic. The app will freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then I have to force close it. I did try clearing the data and that did not work. I removed the updates for the app and that seems to have taken care of it. The app started acting funny after the .902 update and eventually became unusable until I did the above.
I have a Droid Razr and my carrier is Verizon. Ever since the motorola update on friday, 2/17 I cannot open 2 email accounts (bellsouth and godaddy) They both disappeared from my email icon and altough they are listed in My accounts they have a new green icon next to the name and underneath the email address it says com.motorola.blur.provider.email. The update didn't effect my gmail account. I have spoke to several Verizon reps and a Motorola rep after removing sims card, turning off and on and several soft resets nothing has worked. When I held down the email name in My Accounts it forces close. It says the application My Accounts (process com.motorola setup)has stopped unexpectedly pease try again.
Yesterday, saw message that Verizon had OTA ICS on my phone...said upgrade would talk 15 minutes and reboot.45 minutes later, all I see is emergency dialer. time to power down and reboot...still just emergency dialer. Called verizon support...after a couple more reboots, tech says do factory reset. This works (although after downloading all my apps during the day, the phone, when rebooted to try to fix the microSD issue, went back into Emergency Dial only mode and I did yet another factory reset...ugggghhh!.)o after perusing the forums, I find that the encryption key is genereated using the MEID (by default, I don't remember which I used when I set the encryption, not that it matters). and is stored on that nice internal storage that gets wiped during the factory reset. So now, the ICS Razr will not mount the microSD card (I am sure, based on the other forums I have visited, that my data is in a better, unusable, place).
