I'm using an unlocked version of the bb curve 8520 and want to upgrade my bb device os to v5.0. (current version- 4.6.1)I tried using the application loader on the bb website (NA & India both) but it just tells me that my OS is updated and that i will be notified if there are any updates available.

My BB curve 8520 ringtone stopped working after upgrading the phone from os 4.6 to 5.0. I don't want to pull out battery every time in order to make it work for a while. I need a permanent solution other than going back to os 4.6.

Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?

- My N80
- A 5800 Xpress Music
- My Brothers N73
I have no problems with all Telephone to sync on Novi Suite... but it's impossible to use it:
- On my N80 i can update some maps.... it's 20 MB of size... the programs say i need 2GB of free space !!!!!!!! **bleep** PG ?!?!?!
- On 5800 Xpress Music i can upgrade the firmware....... same 2GB of Free Space!!! **bleep**!
- On N73 i can upgrade some programs... it's 200KB of size.... same 2GB of Free Space required!!
BUT **bleep** it's this a **bleep** ERROR ?!?!? It's a **bleep** programs PG !OH... i have installed ovi some time ago.... i have now 2.0.2.42 and now i can't upgrade to the last version!! It's about 80 MB of size..FOR EVER THE SAME ERROR!2GB of space required
I read on the front page how others were having the proximity issue like I was and that if you did a reset of settings then it could fox it. So I went ahead and did that. I went in and started changing all my settings back and I realized that the only option I had for my passcode was to require it immediately and not after 5 min like I usually do. I've done some searching and saw that a google or exchange account could cause this. But I only have mobile me.So that can't be it. The only other option I've seen is to do a complete restore.Whig I'd really like to stay away from. Does anyone have any ideas?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen in college I connect to an open wifi network via a proxy. I then must use the web browser to validate a username and password to browse. This all works no problem if I want to view websites, however if i want to use the OVI store or Fring I must close the web browser so that they can connect and thus lose my validation settings-is there any way around this?
Again the network itself is open with no encryption, the log on is via web browser.
I'm also having 'No Gateway Reply' error when using an open ad-hoc network at home, but that's another problem for another post!

I thought I could go without for those few days...When I crossed the border, the gps receiver ceased to function at all. I tried several apps, among them Ovi maps (I desperately needed the navigation!), Sports Tracker etc. All said that no satellites were found. What's wrong? I would understand that assisted GPS should not work in that case, but normal GPs with maybe longer time for a fix has to work, but none at all? I let the phone try unmoved for an hour under best conditions.
I just chatted with a premier rep. about my concern that I being 18 with no credits would not qualify to get an iphone 4, so can I buy the phone under my moms name and then get my discount added?. To this, he said no that the line has to be under my name inorder to get the discount.But the good news that he gave me is this----"You would qualify for an iphone 4 with no credits as you would be buying it from premier store using your college email and with premier discount".So what do you guys think about this, was the rep right or was he just running away from the situation.

But when I try to activate, it says "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support. Needless to say, connecting to iTunes doesn't work - "The software on the iPhone has expired and must be updated to a newer version".

my iPhone has started to lose signal then when you reboot it it comes up with the message activation required. When I unlock the phone it tells me to connect to iTunes. When I do this I have to restore the phone and restart it using my back up, but it keeps happening.

For the life of me, I can't recall my username and password. I have tried entering my hotmail email address and password but this does not appear to work. I am unaware of any other password. I keep getting: blank user name. Type a valid user name. I have typed in my email address in user name...I have also requested a reminder for my password - my Curve 8520 tells me this has been sent but I have not received any such email or text.

My iPhone 5c goes into Activation Required mode about 5-10 times per day and always overnight. Therefore my alarms do not work, can't receive texts or calls. I have to be in wifi to be able to re activate the phone. Once in wifi it takes me to the Apple ID log in page. Once I put in the info it takes me right back to the home screen as normal.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm a new user to BB device. From Blackberry webpage and manual, they stated that if we wish to update our device OS, we can either update through the web (Desktop Manager) with our computer or through our device itself via service provider (Wireless update).
If I have downloaded an OS package and wish to update it manually, what are the steps for this purpose and how? Please someone explain in brief, will appreciate that and how am I to ensure that the previous version of OS is removed? I'm currently reading about how to backup my data and 3rd party data, once I'm clear with everything, will proceed with the upgrade.
So everyday I go through a dead zone with my phone, and everytime I go through this dead zone, I have to reboot my phone after because it prevents me from being able to use the internet or bbm. In bbm it makes an eternal red clock (even after I fix it the messages I wrote before rebooting never send) and the internet will not load anything (nor facebook). So what I do everyday is pull out the battery to do a full reboot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting my Storm 2 to my laptop it is requesting my password 3 times. When I first started using it, it only requested my password 1 or 2 times. Once if the handset was already unlocked and twice if it is locked. It is not the Desktop manager that is the issue but the Blackberry device manager.Is there a way to stop the device manager requesting the password as it is annoying. I do not have a memory card in my handset so not quite sure why it is prompting.Also does anyone know where I can find more info on the Device manager whether it needs to be installed for BB desktop manager to function properly etc.

Our phones has the Torch in the Quick Toggles, but you need to turn it on, unlock and then go to to the QuickToggle to turn it on and off, with this is as simply as press and Hold the Volume Up, once you finish press the Volume down once. Best of all, no root required.
