I received a BB Torch 9860 as a Christmas gift and have been having some problems with it. First of all, I had issues registering a BlackBerry ID and was finally able to register online and set up my ID. I then signed in on my device using the password I'd created, and this prompted a back-up, followed by a lengthy process which I assumed to be a restoration back to factory settings, based on what was appearing on screen.I left the device to complete this process, which seemed to take over an hour, and a message eventually appeared to tell me that it had been successful. From then on, I had problems with the screen freezing and all buttons and icons have been completely unoperational. I rebooted several times, removed the battery, the sim card and the memory card individually and then a combination of all of these things together, but nothing helped and each time the device restarted, the screen was still frozen. I then removed the battery while it was switched on, and this seems to have solved the problem, but I'm now really worried that I'm going to have ongoing problems.

About a week or two, I have changed some configurations on the GPS Status(like Sensor Filter and such) and the GPS was taking too long to connect, in the same places that it got a lock time around 15s, now it takes 2 min, só I did a factory reset and the GPS worked good again.About 3 days ago, the GPS started to take too long for get a lock, around 2~3min, and I did a reset again, but doesn't work. I tried it many times again and still doesn't work.My phone is with the last update(via PC Companion) and I've tried a repair(via PC Companion too) with the SIM and SD cards, but don't solved my problem too. What can I do?I think thatits not hardware, because before it was working pretty well, I think that is software.Oh...I tried to turn off the phone disconnect the battery cable(under a rubber cover) for about 5 minutes and reconnect, but still the same. What can I do to solve this problem? Now the GPS cant get a lock, it find the satellites(5~7) but don't get a lock.

It's just my personal reference, I like the 9700 better.

Have noticed that I'm unable to send / receive messages unless I'm connected to a Wi Fi network. I was in Singapore last week and the only way I could use messenger was to use my laptop as a hotspot using Connectify ad yes I did have data roaming enabled but I get exactly the same problem back here in Scotland, if I send a msg I get the 'pending' icon and nothing happens. I have spoken to my service provider today (Vodafone UK) and they said all the required features are in place, the settings at their end look correct and that I should post something here.

I purchased a blackberry torch 9810 in Dubai from a Vodafone shop at the airport (brand new), I have had it for about 2 weeks and my keypad seems to stop working when it feels like it, it is usually the "ALT" and "n" key, I currently live in South Africa, where I can take my phone to be repaired? Should it still be under warranty even if I purchased it abroad?
