BB Torch :: Unable To Log In On Handset ?
Oct 16, 2011
I have had the problem of not being able to log into Blackberry ID account on my handset, although I can log in via a laptop/desktop.One suggestion was to 'wipe' my handset via BlackBerry Desktop Manager, this proved difficult as I couldn't download and install blackberry desktop manager. This is now resolved, it was a microsoft.NET 3.5 SP issue, long story but I have now installed that.Anyway, I now have the desktop manager on my PC and need help/advice on what I need to do next to rectify the ID log in issue.

I cannot hear callers on handset device and must turn on speaker to communicate. So privacy is compromised whenever I need to talk on the phone, as it will be on speaker mode.
I had tried all the following and nothing works:
- make sure Bluetooth is turned off
- removed battery and put back after 1 ~5 mins
- Do backup, update the latest software and restore

Recently I have been getting a problem with my 9700 Blackberry. When I make or receive calls, I can not hear anything out of my handset. The person on the other line can hear fine (Usually with me going Hello Hello a million times!) The only time I can hear anything is when I have my bluetooth on or switching it to speakerphone.
I tried doing the soft reset (battery pull when the phone was still on) ...still nothing. Although it did work a couple of times. Its on and off, but recently the situation has gone from bad to worse.Anyone out there with the 9700 with the same issue? It's really annoying and I do use the phone a lot for important calls.

I'm currently unable to unlock my BB 9700. I get the password prompt but upon entering the password it just goes back to the locked screen with the padlock.Using Alt + Back button I can scroll through a number of open apps but can not open or close them it, then freezes and displays a white screen until I pull the battery.
Numerous battery pulls later and still no joy.The only change on my device yesterday was a number of failed attempts to download Docs to Go ver 2.0 from the App World yesterday. My BB does a scheduled battery pull each night at 2am and the phone has been like that since the last scheduled pull (forget the name of the app).
Edit to highlight - I know the password is working as it re-prompts if I type it in incorrectly on purpose and after 2 attempts asks me to type in Blackberry.

My partner has just had to exchange her handset because it wasn't working correctly. She is using the same sim. She had already added her email address on the old handset and adding it on the new handset is proving to be a problem.
When she tries to 'add email' it comes up saying 'existing users' and asking for the user name and password. When we type in the full email and password it says 'Blank user name. Type a valid user name'
We have tried just typing the first part of the email without the '@whatever.com' bit on the end and it says 'connecting to email settings' and then 'the information you provided is incorrect. retype your user name and password. Your user name and password are case sensitive.'
...so we are unable to add the email address.
how to add the email address?

I haven't seen anything on thins about the Torch so here goes.I work for a law firm where the attorneys are allowed to purchase their own smartphone, as long as it is a Black Berry or an iPhone (3GS or higher). A few of the main partners rushed out to get the Torch yesterday and the bright people at AT&T restored their old device's data to the Torch.
My problem is while I'm in the process of attempting to back up one of the new Torch devices so I can save the 800 photos that were transferred from an iPhone, the PC doesn't see the Torch. It charges over USB, but the latest DM does not see it at all. Windows does not pop up the found new hardware balloon. Has anyone had this experience so far? I've tried two different Torch devices and on 3 different PCs.

Until last Tuesday, I was away on holidays. Prior to this my Blackberry was working perfectly. However since coming back, I noticed that my laptop & handset do not talk. I was told by the Blackberry software that my handset needed a new upgrade. I tried to upgrade, but this failed & in the meantime, my contacts which were supposedly backed up were obliterated. It claimed the fact that I had a password (which I used to stop my phone making phone calls without my knowing in my pocket) was preventing the upgrade from happening.
I am now literally without phone & lost.

When making or receiving calls, the calls are connected, but using the handset I don't hear anything. The person on the other end of the call can hear me. I've figured out that I can hear when I use the speakerphone, or when I plug in headphones, but I can't seem to hear anything from the phone handset at all.
My Torch has been freezing up a bit lately... but I have no idea what is causing this. Is there a setting I can change, or is something broken in the phone?

I have an e-mail account with a number of aliases. I want one of those aliases to be the one that shows as the sender whenever I send an e-mail from my Blackberry Torch 9800.
On a previous Blackberry there was a 'reply to' option and by putting this alias in there it did the above. Has that option been removed on the Torch?
I cannot set up the alias as a seperate email account on the Torch as there is no actual 'password' with the address.

I just had trouble today with my torch, all of a sudden my incoming call audio does not work if it's handset mode but if it's in speaker mode I can hear the caller but audio transmit is not possible, the person at the other side cannot hear me when the phone is in speaker mode, i have to put into handset mode but in any case, there is obvious problem on the receiving/outgoing side.

I have recently changed from the bold 9000 to the Torch 9800 and the volume on both the speaker phone as well as the handset seem to be much lower on the 9800. Is there any way to increase the volume other than the controls on the side of the phone. In options I went to enhance call audio but there were no settings for volume.

The problem I am having is I cannot hear the caller. The caller can hear me. I have to either use an ear piece and microphone or put the phone on speaker. I have had this phone for almost two years. This is a recent problem. I have removed the battery for a full ten minutes and reinstalled. I have performed the update and have the latest versions: Desktop software version 7.1.0.32 release date July 11, 2012 bundle 33. Phone software is 6.0, Bundle 695.

Has anyone successfully tethered their Torch 9800 thru Desktop Manager 6? When I connect my phone to my computer and run DM6 I no longer see the option to tether on the bottom left corner of the applications window. I previously had a Curve 8900 and tethered with no problems thru DM6 running on Windows 7. (I'm with T-Mobile and have the unlimited data plan) I just got the Torch, unlocked it and everything is working properly on T-Mobile's network, however as I mentioned when I connect the Torch to the Desktop Manager I don't see any option to tether as I previously did with the Curve 8900. I've look at the Technical Specs provided by RIM at blackberry.com and Tethered Modem is listed as a supported Feature. I've been searching these forums and haven't found any info. Does anyone else have this problem, or am I the only one who does not have this option available on DM6. For what it's worth, I also connected a Torch 9800 running on AT&T network with a 2GB data plan and still do not see this option. However if I connect my old Curve 8900 to DM6 I see the option to tether immediately upon connecting the device on the bottom left corner of the DM6's window.

Does anyone know how to do this with Device software version 6.0.0.141?

I started the contract in November 2011 with a Torch 9860.I had numerous problems with the phone freezing and randomly losing data such as texts, call logs and emails. In 9 months I've had 5 phones and 1 sim card change, 2 weeks ago BT changed the handset to a Torch 9810. The phone has worked fine till Friday when it started doing funny things like randomly receiving texts which were from old conversations. On saturday afternoon it lost all data by way of texts, call logs and emails that were over 24 hours old and in the last hour has lost everything over 6 hours old.I have all calls, texts and emails going into the messages list and have that set to save everything for ever so I can chose when to delete information. As I;m a consultant I need my call logs, texts and emails to work out my billing so this really is a pain.

I've owned an iPhone 4 for the last 2 years, but have now upgraded to a different device.
I still have my old iPhone 4 in my possession, running 5.0.1. I have removed the micro-sim card from my iPhone and it is now in my new device (which is NON-apple).
To my horror, I text a friend (an iPhone user) from my new handset, only for my OLD iPhone to receive his reply! Obviously I was shocked, as my iMessages were set up by telephone number and NOT by my Apple-ID. I didn't understand this, as my phone number (SIM card) is no longer in my iPhone, it is in my new device.
Now having Googled this, I can see that this is something that is affecting a massive amount of people world wide. I cannot believe a company like Apple would allow this to happen, especially with the current world concern about privacy and security!!!
Anyhooo, my question is this: I have my old iPhone 4 in my possession. HOW DO I STOP iMessages going to my old handset?!When the device is erased, will the new owner still be able to set up iMessages as if it is a brand new handset?Once iMessages are prevented going to my old iPhone, will I start to receive messages from my friends as a normal SMS on my new phone (currently this is not the case, ALL texts go to my old iPhone which I ceased using a week ago. EVEN WITH iMESSAGES turned OFF, I still do not receive the message on my NEW device with the SIM card inserted in it)
I have read that removing the sim card, and cycling iMessages (Off then back On) before resetting/erasing. I don't want "maybe's" or "possiblys" in this case. My concern here is my privacy and protection of information that is only for me to see!
Info:
iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1, SIM card removed to new device.

I know the Evo is not due for release until June, but it already has a 'units for sale' presence on the web.
As it is probably unlikely that HTC will change the spec of the handset. Has anybody used one of these handsets on the Vodafone network, which is not a 4G network.
