BB Torch :: 9860 Suddenly Stopped Functioning - Screen / Buttons Not Light Up
Nov 10, 2012Since around 2 weeks I have a Torch 9860. Yesterday evening, when I was not using the device the Torch suddenly stopped functioning. When I turned it on again it said it was setting up but it didn't do anything. So after a few minutes I turned it off and on again but now it didn't react at all (so screen stays black, no button lightens up etc.). I can't get it turned on again, not even when I removed the battery for a few minutes. I also tried to charge it again as I wanted to be sure the battery was charged but this doesn't work either.

May 2, 2010so here's my problem. i went over to a friends house today for a barbecue, and when i got there i sent a text so i know everything was working fine. a few hours later i get home and notice that the screen on my Curve is black, and i knew something was up because i know it was fully charged before i left the house earlier. hit the buttons and nothing. so i do a battery pull and it reboots fine, then the screen goes black after 30 seconds and then hit the buttons and nothing. when i hook a mini usb cable up to the port, the screen comes back on for the usual 30 seconds, then goes black like the other times. when i connected it via the cable and the screen lit up, i noticed that the trackball scrolls fine left and right, but pushing the trackball does nothing.the phone is about a year and a half old, through Verizon. i have no problem with getting a new phone, but i don't want to loose the 150 or so contacts i have on the phone. i don't have Google Sync installed on the phone, and i'm guessing that it's too late to back anything up now on my end. when i connect it to my PC, i can access the usually Media folders and Slacker, but nothing else. if i take it into a local VZW store, would they be able to back up my address book the exact way it is now, since the phone powers on and the USB port works fine?i'm going to remove the shell tonight and see if i notice anything.

Jan 16, 2010I upgraded my Verizon Curve 8330 to a Tour and now my trackball is acting up. I'm thinking of changing the trackballs since I never had a problem with the Curve. Are they all the same size or has anyone had problems trying this. I'm not worried about taking it apart or the warranty, but would like to see if this was successful for anyone else first.

Jan 4, 2011I have had a torch since October 2010 and just in the last 2 days it has stopped responding when using the keyboard or buttons.
When I pull the battery and reboot, I can use the touch screen to unlock, and then can go in to any item. Example: open text, can scroll and find a test to view, tap it and open. I can then reply, forward delete with the screen options but once that is done I am now stuck in the text message. My only option is to pull the battery.
I can not make phone calls but can answer by sliding up the screen. When call is done I can not end just have to wait for other person to hang up.
I have checked for Water damage and there is none, the phone has not had a hard drop and the to sides are very solid (not loose).

I used to be able to highlight an email and then click search and this would then bring up all emails from a particular person or subject etc. When I try and do this now the search facility tries to search, but nothing happens.

Sep 14, 2011I purchased BB Torch 9860 before two days and I already have plan for the data package (200 mb). I connected it to my WiFi at home and it shows that it's connected. Now when I'm at home and I want to surf the internet, it's using the carrier data package, but I want it to use the WiFi. I searched all over and I can't find any solution. any help? Notes: On the home screen, I can see my carrier name (Etisalat) and my WiFi network name. When I go to "Manage Connections", it shows that I'm connected to the WiFi network; but I've never seen the WiFi signal icon in blue or green or any color than grey (which means the BB is not using the WiFi at all) I want to set the default internet access as WiFi. but How ?! Some people told me that it will switch automatically between WiFi and data package, but as far as I see, it's not switching at all. Nov 2, 2011This is a software issue, for sure. I've removed battery, sim, memory, still no power up. New battery in shop fully charged put in, still no power up. Phone call to O2 will replace in the morning.ooking at the boards, theres a common issue out there. Software, not hardware.So I tried following a Blackberry 7 upgrade offered by the Desktop manager, which incidently recognised I had a 9860 - so something is talking! - Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation. is the only result I get as I've followed the Device Software update , Bundle 1645 is being offered but it fails the install .At the start it downloads 497 modules, then startsErasing applications(!!). But fails on the next stage.I also read that connecting the 9860 and pressing ctrl + alt + del would active the phone, all it did (even that was surprising) was let me see a Battery sign on the screen. However interesting that was it soon disappeared.
