BB Torch :: Trying To Use Message Access Profile (MAP)
Jul 12, 2011
I am trying to use Message Access Profile (MAP) but on the Blackberry Bluetooth screen under MAP options I noticed that for SMS/MMS and message notification toptions have a red cross on the right hand side of the screen. It seems that the option is not enabled for SMS. How do enable it. My Blackberry version is 6.0.0.600.
If I want to use Toyota Touch & Go system, with the sms function where the text will be shown on the screen, the phone needs map profile. But for now it´s only BlackBerry which has that profile?
I want to be able to use my BB with my SYNC software in my vehicle to hear my text messages. When will we get an update to our devices that will permit this? Other phones have the standard working, when will my BB. Or will I have to buy a different phone that is compatible?
I got my Blackberry Torch yesterday and I cannot access any sound notification functions except changing the ringtone. I can access the "Sound and Alert Profiles" via the Homescreen icon but when I then click the "Sounds for Selected Profile" banner nothing happens. As a result I cannot activate audio notifications for Blackberry messenger, emails or smss.
I keep getting the following message:"The network you are connected to appears to be a hotspot. You may be required to consent to legal terms and/or set up an account to get internet access. Hotspot operators may charge service fees for internet access". However, its a free network that my other devices, such as my playbook connect to without problems. When I click "OK" I get another message that says: "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." I click OK, and it takes my to the BB browser, which of course doesn't work. Its like it wants me to give permission to use the network, but I need to use the network to give the approval.
-WiFi is enabled -Bluetooth is enabled -Other devices including Playbook currently work on the network -Repeatedly gives me the first message above, followed by the second message above
Just purchased a new unlocked S6. I already had a Samsung account so went through the set up process on the phone and successfully set up the Samsung account on the phone using my Samsung account details. Able to go into Apps, Settings, Accounts, Samsung account and can see my email. The Samsung account syncs without problem and I can download apps through the Galaxy Apps site.
Now the issue, using the phone whilst in the Samsung account I select Profile so I can check my profile details but when I enter my password and select confirm, the phone shows a green & blue wheel with the words "In Progress" then the screen momentarily goes blank and then the same blue wheel with the words "In Progress" reappears and stays on the screen and that is as far as it goes. The phone is trying to open the Profile page but just continues showing the blue wheel with the words "In Progress".
I can log into my account through the account.samsung.com web site and enter the Profile through the website and I can use Find my mobile to connect to the phone and ring the phone so the phone is linked to the account. I have done a factory reset on the phone and the same issue remains. I have even set up a different Samsung account and the new account also has the same issue. I have cleared the cache and data on the phones Samsung account and tried to get into the Profile with the same issue. I asked a work colleague with a S6 to also log into his Profile via the phone and he had the same problem so it appears to be an issue with the Samsung app.
I inadvertently restored the factory profile settings. I have the backup file on my computer - but I can not remember the backup password. The MUST be a way I can access the backup file to restore my data.
just got a samsung galaxy sII yesterday after updating from a htc incredible s..(which i found to be incredibily s**t). so far the samsung seems to be a nice phone. easy to use and very fast. theres only one thing thats causing me a bit of frustration, and thats that i cant seem to make my contacts appear with their profil pics in my message inbox next to their conversation threads. they all appear with the default silhouette. i've synced my facebook contacts with my phone contacts and done it both through the facebook app and the social hubb app. my background data and auto sync are activated aswell. i've tried using an app called syncmypix and that didn't work either. when a contact calls me their picture comes up, but im my messages their pics dont appear. i just got off the phone with a samsung representative and they told me i had to merge my contacts with my google account. so i did but this still didnt work, and then they told me its probably a problem with my network provider, which i think was just an attempt by them to get rid of me
how to set up a new profile for your Torch? I'm wanting to create a new profile to use for when I only want certain contacts to be able to reach me [eg when I'm off ill from work or on leave]. I was able to do that with my previous Nokia and would love to be able to do it again if possible with my Torch. I created the profile but don't know how to load the contacts.
I just got the BB Torch 9810 two weeks ago and it suddenly doesn't let me change my profile (normal). I can't change the profile. It will let me touch any other icon on the menu except the profile one. It doesn't respond?
When I got my Torch, I was really glad that I was able to just set the Normal Profile and then the other Profiles just adjust accordingly when selected. I was messing around with my Profile settings today, and I somehow got my Vibrate Only Profile for the Phone's Vibration settings out of sync from the Normal Profile. Before it had "(Normal)" in front of "Custom" but now it's gone, see attachment. Is there a way I could set it back somehow?
Will the next iOS update provide users to set up profiles that can be changed manually or by a chosen location setting. Or an a app with the same ability
after OS upgrade only 2 of my 3 calendar profiles have entries...the 3rd profile exists but there are no entries history or future...since I had backed up prior to system update tried to restore, still no entries....this is my most used profile too so I am lost without it!
Is there any way to create a contact profile or any type of custom profile alert for a range of SMS addresses. I receive SMS messages from an automated system that increments its address for each message. I would like to create a profile to provide a customized alert for any SMS messages coming from a number such as 123000****.BK Blackberry Torch 9800 rev 6.0?
My sound profile management is stuck in normal & I can't change it to vibrate, loud, silent, or any other options on that page. Ihave turned my phone off completely, taken out battery and put back in, & still nothing. I spend lots of time in places where you're not supposed to have ringing on, I need at least vibrate.
Is this possible to create a custom ring profile and copy it to another device? We have 7 BB Torch 9800 in our technical team and we want to have the same ring profile for the servers alerts. I did not find this info on the web. Maybe, the ring profile are write on a xml file or another type..
the torch clearly can detect when a connection is made to the audio jack - e.g., removing a headphone pauses the media player, and plugging one in pops up a headphone icon and changes the audio level.but I cannot figure out a way to create a profile (with custom alerts, vibration settings, etc) that takes advantage of this info. anyone know how to trigger a profile upon plugging the headset in.
I have just got a blackberry torch and synchronised all my data to it. I have set my ringtone in the normal profile to Assured but when my phone rings it plays Spirit. I have tried everything and cannot seem to find where to change it
So I've done my best to find a solution to my custom sound profile problems, but I can't seem to find any similar posts. On my 9700 the default sound profile overrides the custom profile. From everything I've read so far it's supposed to be the opposite correct? What am I missing or not understanding?
Message inbox icon (notification/ indicator) for Text message does not appear on my Torch 9860 when I receive text message (the little tiny text message bubble icon).I get it for email and blackberry messenger (little envelop for email, blue bubble for messenger) but nothing for text message.
I own a 2013 Dodge Charger with the Uconnect system, and an iPhone 5c. The phone connects to the Uconnect system flawlessly, but Uconnect does not support the text messaging feature because of the lack of Message Access Protocol on the iPhone. Is there a workaround so that I can take advantage of this hands-free feature on the Uconnect system? The people at Uconnect have been, unfortunately, less than useful.
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)
I am a first time blacberry user and i thought everything was going great, u know it takes a few days to access all the new gadget's on your phone. Well i have had my phone for months and not one time have i been able to access my app world from my phone i continually receive and error message after i input my log in information in. It is a complete waste of my monthly charges not being able to have full access to my phone.
I am traveling in Europe for the weekend and want to be able to use iMessage to text a friend back home for free, but the only thing that pops up when I hit the message app is Text Message.
