BB Torch 9800 :: Small Dust Particles Under Glass Screen?
Aug 18, 2010
I've had this problem with most of my touchscreen phones and I was wondering if anyone has this issue with the 9800 yet? Did you find any small dust particles under your glass screen?
I hope that this does not seem like a trivial post, and maybe there are others out there in my same situation, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to remove dust particles from under the screen? It appears as though the dust is getting in from the ear piece. I know that this is a frequent problem with touch-screen phones, as my old iPhone used to get it as well.Loving this phone, just hating that there are dust particles.
my X6 has just started collecting dust particles under the touch panel, i was wondering, before going to NC , if any of you had this dust issue and what the NC points told you. was it covered by the warranty or you paid the cleaning?also did they just blow air and removed them, or they replaced the screen? i read somewhere that they must replace it due to electric something, i don't remember.
The front-facing camera on the Nokia 920 getting dust particles inside the lens? This should be a very sealed area. I don't work in dusty environments, etc. Just a normal office IT Professional, and is in a case most of the time and rarely in a pocket.
I see some specs of dust under the back glass of my iPhone4S. How possibly is that? It seems that the glass is perfectly attached to the back, how could they go there? Is there any solution for me to swap them out or how to prevent more dust going underneath the glass? Since there is no Apple service in my country, so it seems that I have to deal with it?
Was reading another thread, and I have to assume Apple wanted to use a more durable shell to avoid the huge amount of complaints they received about cracks showing in the previous 2 phone models.I saw on Apple's site that the glass is "bendable" so this should help stress fractures from showing up.Any comments or more info on this subject from anyone?
I dont know if this is a common problem or not. But I've had my Torch for 2 weeks now, and I've got loads of dust particles in the middle at the top of the screen....And I've tried hoevering and pressured air dusters...And it's still building up! If it gets any worse I'll be taking it back.
My home screen is white. The icons on the panel are really tiny and scattered around. I keep getting error this and error that when i try to open an app or anything. I cant play my music. Basically my phone doesnt look normal and i already tried turning it back on and off.
I can still make phone calls and texts but it doesnt let me play music or anything else. There's a picture of how it looks. What can i do? And yes i've done all the resets i could do and i even did a hard reset and a full data wipe.
I cannot figure out what happened. My daughter got a hold of my phone and she made my email and text messaging screen small like the bottom bar has been moved up to almost the top of the screen.
I am looking for a thread or would like to create one that will instruct a newbie on how to clean up (or hide) those apps I don't want or use, on the main screen. Also would like to know recommendations as to best apps to have, that don't suck memory. (Maybe an app to free up wasted space?)
On my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
Just recently noticed that my phone screen will flicker and a small red light will flicker (very dim) to the right of the LED when I am on the active call screen. It is most notable when I am making an outgoing call, when the phone status is reading "calling." The screen seems to flicker and the dim light flashes to the right of the LED,
So we've mentioned screen protectors a lot so far, and unfortunately this is another thread about them (DON"T STOP READING THERE). Since i bought the invisibleShield, and absolutely love it. I was hoping the awesome CrackBerry community might make it better. Since it's a large screen protector that you have to cut up yourself, i was hoping someone had something i can trace and cut along a line, to better fit my screen. So does anyone have anything that we can trace to easier cut out screen protectors?
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
my BB Torch 9800 screen started short circuiting, splitting in half, and everything going backwards when I slid the phone open. So I started using it with it slid closed and just texting on the screen and it worked great until the other day when the screen would no longer come on, even when it was closed. I know the phone still works because the red light was flashing because I got a message but I couldn't get the screen to come back on because I'm guessing it has short circuited enough that it gave out. So my question is, I got a cheap phone onto my contract now, but I don't have any contacts: how can I get my contacts from my BB where I can't see the screen onto this other phone? I have my SIM card in the other phone but no contacts are on it.
Is there a way to reset my phone? I lost my screen for my torch 9800. I can still recieve phone calls and dial out by memory. No touch screen or picture at all!
I have had a Blackberry Torch 9800 for 12 months and I removed it from my vehicles "Hands Free Kit" and put it in my phone holder on my belt. When I removed the phone from my holder, the screen was black and frozen and none of the button worked, not even the touch screen. The phone works correctly if I open the slide but shuts off when I close the slide again. When the slide is opened I have no on screen typing and have to use the keyboard on the slide. When I put the phone back in my hands free kit, the slide needs to be closed so I cannot answer any calls or use the touch screen.
My newly purchased Blackberry 9800 has just gone blank. I'm so sure it's not a battery problem because I have tried other batteries. It just happened abruptly. There was no physical damage to the device. The device, fully charged has been on, and when I tried making a call later in the day, I found a blank screen. When I did a hard reset, the screen remained blank with the indicator light beaming red for a few seconds, and then flashes red light four times at rhythmic interval
The screen on my Blackberry Torch will all of a sudden go completely black. I know the battery is not dead, because the keyboard will be lit up. I checked & it has the latest OS. I've also hard booted it several times by pulling the battery. Sometimes I can get the screen to come back on. Sometimes I also freezes up when it comes back on. This is the first time I've had problems with my Torch.
I have a new torch 9800 and the screen does not go to the off mode while it is not in use. I have changed the backlight and timeout setting but still not fix. Even when i lock the phone the screen the screen goes blank and it get limunated in few seconds.

My wife's Torch 9800 started playing up yesterday, upon sliding the screen up it would stay blank (although it's actually on just very very faint) until you slid it down again slightly at which point it would work as normal. It's gone downhill since then and now just stays faint no matter what you do with the slider.
Screen has recently been blacking out. The problem occurs just as mysteriously as it starts back up again. I tried backing up phone and then doing an update without backup and then restoring. I removed battery both while plugged in and not plugged in. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue, but it seems as if there are many posts with similar problems. I am two years into a three year plan and the cost of a new phone at this point is not great with the early upgrade fees.
Whilst I was sending a message my BB went black could not see a thing on my screen, I googled for a solution and had one via BB site to reload current software and to no avail now my phone is not working am not able to even access it anymore.
Hey everyone my 9800 torch screen is blank but my phone is on as the keypad lights up and when i tried the battery reset the red light flashes. My phone is out of the warraenty date.
Does anyone know if we can change the transparent gray "bar" at the top of the screen? I want to change it to clear, because it takes over the top part of my wallpapers. It just bugs me.
