Was reading another thread, and I have to assume Apple wanted to use a more durable shell to avoid the huge amount of complaints they received about cracks showing in the previous 2 phone models.I saw on Apple's site that the glass is "bendable" so this should help stress fractures from showing up.Any comments or more info on this subject from anyone?

View 3 Replies View Relatedso in the beginning of march, my little brother (he's 2) was sick and cranky. i watched a couple of videos on Internet with him, but i had to remove my iphone 4 case (speck) because it kept on interferring with my internet connection (not the first time either!!!). that was probably a bad idea, because when i had tried to take the phone from him when someone was calling, he threw it on the floor. it landed on the back, and now the back glass is shattered. the phone works fine, and my stupid case covers the crack, but i really want to know the cost of getting it replaced in canada. i hear its only 29$, but i want to make sure.

Is there any solution for me to swap them out or how to prevent more dust going underneath the glass? Since there is no Apple service in my country, so it seems that I have to deal with it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got a new iPhone 4 the other day. I was charging the phone and it fell, only a couple feet at most. There is a small crack in the back of the phone now, and it won't turn on anymore. My friend has a iPhone 4 as well and we swapped out the battery and the back housing (just to make sure that the crack didnt short anything out) but the symptoms persist.
I have it plugged into the wall charger now, tried doing a hard reset (holding home and power for some time) but nothing. This is very frustrating to think that the iPhone 4 is this fragile. Does anyone have any suggestions that I could try to get this device back up and running? Any help at all would be very appreciated.

When I add a pic to a contact from my iPhone it is full screen but after a few calls it reverts back to the small thumbnail size.
Any way to fix is so it stays fullscreen?
I can really blame this one on the dog. Walking to my desk, phone in hand, excited puppy races along and bounces into me, phone goes flying. Lands face down.Screen is white, and will sometimes flash grey lines when it seems the phone is trying to do something (like reboot). The music that was playing before the drop continued to play after. The touch screen does not seem to respond. The phone rings when people call me, and my alarm that I had set still went off. Itunes recognizes when my phone is plugged into my computer.
I've been doing research for a few hours trying to see if this is something I can fix - I opened it up to re-seat all the connections, and that didn't help (it didn't seem to make things worse either, at least). There are no visible cracks/breaks on the outside (I have not completely dismantled the inside to see from there).
Phone is a week past warranty, and I don't know that this would have been covered anyway. I'm prepared to fix it myself, as long as I have a good idea what I need to buy. Should I be looking at an LCD replacement? A digitizer replacement? Something else? I've read conflicting things on this. Thanks for any help that can be offered.
My S2 screen has a nice set of spider cracks on the bottom right hand corner luckily I have the insurance but money is tight so my buddy is going to let me use his S1 for the time being.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have had a Nokia 7230 for about 3 months or so. In the last few weeks 2 hairline cracks have appeared in the top right hand corner of the top half of the phone. In the corner where the light illuminates to inform you of a call or sms. There are also another 3 cracks forming in other parts of the same casing.The phone is well looked after and has not been dropped or knocked. I have spoken to O2 who I bought the phone off but they have advised that their technicians will view it as physical damage and just return it. I was also told that this is not common at all. It appears that the thin silver coloured band on the top part of the phone has a weakness.

I`m facing some major issues with it:
1) The reception has become really bad now! Earlier i never experienced call drops but now they are so frequent.
2) The flash remains on even if u switch it off in the still picture mode. This means when u click a pic, till the time the autofocus is running the flash will remain on.
It is very uncomfortable as everybody around u comes to know that u are taking a pic. Very embarrasing if u want to click secretly.
3) 'Flash Auto' has also become unresponsive. In the same lit room in 1 direction the flash would auto on, in another it wont.
4) The loudspeaker cracks at max volume. This wasnt the case earlier.
The sony ericsson website says sony phones cannot be downgraded. Is it true? Can i never get my original software again?

I take really good care of my phone and had the iPhone 3G for 2 years and didn't have any problems with scratches on the screen. Now with the iPhone 4 I have taken even better care of it and it is covered in scratches some seem minor but some seem deep and make it look weird when you look at it with the screen on. Once I noticed this it made me really mad because it is supposed to be a stronger screen.

Ever since I got my iPhone 4S in December, I've been bothered by what appears to be some sort of etching in the glass. I can't feel it, but it shows up if I "breathe" on the glass. It's fairly large, about 2.5" x 1", I guess. It looks like a camera lens with a fungus that's penetrated the seal inside the lens. I know it isn't a "big deal", but it also kind of annoys me. Does anyone else have a similar issue, or do I stand alone? Is it worth getting an Apple store to check it out and replace the glass if necessary?

I have cracked both the front and the back of my iPhone badly and I'm looking at buying replacement glass for it. I currently have black glass on my iphone and would like to replace it with white.As a result of dropping my phone then cracking the screens, I think I may have damaged the arial, I don't get or have less signal then what I used to, also my phone struggles to pick up wifi even if I am close to the router.
I spoke to my network and they said to get anything internal repair I must get the screens fixed but that is not covered in my warrenty. So I have found replacement glass in white and I am wondering if I change the colour of my iPhone, will I still be able to get my arial fixed in an apple store or by my network? My other option is to claim on my insurance and get a replacement phone that way, however I am unsure if they will due to the cracked screens.Am I better of replacing the screens with new black glass or am I able to change the colour?

I was wondering if any iPhone 4 owners with a decent/high quality camera could take a picture of their iPhone 4's with the home screen on. I'd like to see the quality of the Retina Display through the glass via a picture, not some render/homescreen shot.
I searched the forums and couldn't really find much, so I thought I'd ask. I'll be owning an iPhone 4 shortly and I'd like to see the quality before I actually get my Canadian Igloo mits on it.
The glass on my 3Gs is slightly raised in the top left corner. the other three corners are flush with the chrome bezel. the phone is only 1 week old never dropped or anything. is this normal?

So I purchased an iPhone 4 about 2-3 weeks ago, and I'm really careful where I set it down as to not scratch it. (My local bar tender knows to put two coasters down, one for a drink and another for my iPhone), but I recently noticed that on the back camera that the glass is really scratched up that covers the lens. My question is: does anyone know how I can go into a store and get them to switch out my old one for a new one? Like a guaranteed problem I can report that they will swap it for?

The edges peel and the corners lift up and eventually peel back.I've ordered my warranty replacement set from ZAGG already, but the customer service lady tipped me that I am not nearly the first person to call in with the same complaints. Obviously it's either the glass "slickness" or the coating on the said glass that's the culprit.
