IPhone :: ZAGG Invisible Shield Vs Gorilla Glass
Jun 28, 2010
Is anybody noticing that the ZAGG invisibleshield film material doesn't stick worth a damn to the Gorilla Glass on the front and back of the new iP4? The edges peel and the corners lift up and eventually peel back.I've ordered my warranty replacement set from ZAGG already, but the customer service lady tipped me that I am not nearly the first person to call in with the same complaints. Obviously it's either the glass "slickness" or the coating on the said glass that's the culprit.

Has anyone noticed with their invisible shield a vertical rainbow line? It appears on only white / light backdrops? It bothered me for a while so I bought and had a new one installed, sure enough a new one came up on the other side of the screen. Any opinions on how to avoid?

I used invisible shield on my ipod touch and was reasonably happy but the iphone 4 has such a smooth, glossy screen, I wondering if I want to add something with as tacky a feel as the invisible shield. What are you people all using for your iphone film protector?

Im thinking of getting the Zagg invisible shield because I want my phone to be naked but still somewhat protected. Has anyone put the invisible shield on their iphone 4? If so should I get the full body or just the front and back? I'm also a little worried that it will unstick at some point and start to peel off. Any feedback would be great.

I was thinking about getting some sort of full phone screen protectors and I called BB and asked if they had a kiosk that installed the screen protector shields for you and they said all they did have an invisible shield kiosk where they would "install" it for you in under 20 minutes.but they only have covers for the front screen.I have a few questions before i consider buying one though.Which of the two is least noticeable, and which would you prefer.

Is Best Buy good for applying Invisible shield or other products simmilar to this? I know the iPhone has water sensors in almost every port and i want to make sure they don't turn orange and activate. When they apply the shield for you do you get to watch or do they do it in a back room somewhere?
Has anyone gotten this done and how has it turned out? Would you recommend getting the shield put on by Best Buy employees or DIY?I've never had any experience with the protectors that need water or some sort of liquid to be applied. I have put on some cheap screen protectors on my old 3GS and they worked great but i can't seem to find any protectors that cover both the front and back of the phone (sides would be nice too) that don't need liquid to adhere to the phone.
If anyone knows of a phone protector that covers both the front and back of the phone and can be applied without spray it would be extremely helpful. If there are any that include side protection too that would help.

I mistakenly assumed the E7 having Gorilla glass also after the big N8 promo. Do not use the handset without a screen protector. Even a soft object will ruin the screen surface.

First time the phone dropped out of my pocket, while sitting in a chair. The glass cracked! It was about a 2 ft fall onto laminate flooring!I bought this phone for all of it's high durability ratings - first test (and a minor one) and the phone failed! Spoke with some chat representative through the website who said any physical damage was not covered - she even said it SHOULD have withstood a minor impact like that but was unwilling to help in anyway. The only bright side is the crack is close to the corner, so it doesn't impact the touch screen much - but it will be a long 2 year contract like this...

I recently purchased & installed a invisible Shield protector on my Samsung SGH-T749 & it was a bit of a struggle to get it right. When it completely dried, I noticed several small black specks that were large enough to make a bump that can be felt with a fingernail & holds the film up a bit. I had purchased a couple of discounted IS packs for discontinued phones for $2.49 & looked at one of them & saw the same specks under the film. This sample had never been removed from the backing, but had specs on it's back side too. I emailed Zagg & tole them about the specks & got the following response. (Now, they do offer to replace the product, but it is apparent that they don't feel that the specks are their fault, or they don't believe me, as they don't mention the specs at all. I am not going to get mine replaced & am looking for an alternative.) BTW The credit card pre-charges & requiring me to return the "defective" one don't constitute a "courtesy replacement", in my mind. They called it an "installation difficulty!" Incidentally, the product shows a bit of "orange peal" texture that is not very attractive.
The ZAGG Team wrote, "I'm sorry to hear that your installation didn't go well. In general, our lifetime replacement guarantee only covers normal wear-and-tear issues, such as scratching and peeling, and typically does not cover installation difficulties, however, I am willing to extend a one-time courtesy replacement for you. To process your replacement request you will be asked to provide a credit or debit card. Your card will be charged a minimal shipping & handling fee. Additionally, your card will be pre-authorized for the retail value of the product you are replacing. You will have 25 days to return your original product. When we receive the original product back, the pre-authorized charge on your credit or debit card will be removed. Your card will be charged in full if the original product is not returned within 25 days".

I've got a week old 8520, put an invisible shield on the other day and it looks ok. One corner is screwed up because I had to peel it up to remove a speck of dust but over all it looks fine. I just noticed today that there was some dust under one of the corners, but it's under the plastic screen not under the invisible shield. I thought these screens were sealed? It hasn't been dropped or anything, barely been used. Any advise besides taking it off and cleaning it out? What else besides the special plastic tool can be used to remove the screen?

Hope this is the right place - this is my first post.I bought the app Kodak SmileMaker a while ago, put it on my iPod touch, then deleted it later when I needed more space.
Now a week ago, I reinstalled it directly through the touch's App store. I started using my touch for other things and didn't wait to see if it completely installed.Anyway, when I looked a bit later, the place where the icon was when it was installing, was empty.
I went back into the App store to download it again (assuming it hadn't fully installed), only to find the App store told me I'd already downloaded it and wouldn't let me download it again.
Through some coincidence, I must have searched something similar to "smile" on my spotlight searching function on the touch (ie. the screen before the home screen). There it showed up! I opened it and it worked fine. Now, I have no idea how this happened. My question is: can I do it again????Anybody? This would be brilliant! It would get rid of apps that you don't want to be anywhere on the springboard, yet you can use if you want to, because you know there on your ipod/iphone.In fact this is a great idea to develop a cheap application for, but I don't know how to do it and am not bothered about it.
But how can I do it again?

I counted once because I was trying to figure out why my iPhone was full when it shouldn't be, iTunes says my apps take up 9 GB's of space. Could this be stuff my apps have downloaded or something that I'm unaware of? It seems like I should have more than 4 and a half GB's left of space. How do I clear that invisible data from the iPhone?

Basically, if I begin to type an e-mail message (doesn't matter what e-mail account I use) and stop typing it (where it makes a draft), if I cancel/delete that draft and never send the e-mail, the draft still exists on my phone somewhere I can't see. How do I know this? Because, just about every day, I'll get some notifications in the notification center re: those messages being unread/unsent. Clicking on those messages will pull me into the draft I was working on, but tapping "cancel" again (instead of send) on the draft will no longer prompt the dialog confirming I want to cancel and delete the draft. It just exits the message. Modifying the draft will cause the prompt to show up again, but clicking delete does not get rid of the draft on my phone. Sending the draft does not get rid of it either. It will reappear later. I have 3 e-mail accounts on my phone and it happens with ALL of them. One of them is POP and the other 2 are Exchange based. I reproduced it again yesterday with my Comcast POP account, this time actually saving the draft and deleting it for kicks.
1. Started typing an e-mail message.
2. Decided to cancel the e-mail message.
3. Prompt occured to delete or save the draft.
4. Selected delete.
5. Draft appears to be GONE.
6. Sometime later, in the notification center, my draft will show up there. I can tap the draft in the notification center to be taken back to it.
7. Tapping cancel at this point will just exit out of the draft. Sending the draft will send the e-mail message but it will appear in the notification center later. Typing more text on the draft, hitting cancel and delete will still cause the draft to show back up later in the notification center.
I've also tried a varation of saving the first draft, going into the drafts folder under Mail and deleting the draft there... but it comes back.ay try a erase all content and settings then reconfigure everything. is these drafts are searchable in the spotlight but you can't find them normally in the Mail app.
Edit: Forgot to add that I also deleted all the e-mail accounts and readded them too.

I recently purchased a ZAGG screen protector full body armor for my Milestone. I followed the given instructions and left the phone for a few days for the protector to completely attached itself to my phone. The problem is and im not sure if anyone else noticed but when i turn on my phone. I noticed that the display seems to have that red/orange effect but especially worse on a white background. It seems like a red/orange rainbow crystal effect, like tiny crystallized red dots all over the screen. I decided to leave the phone for a few more days that perhaps it is just the solution but it is still there. So, i removed my ZAGG and replaced with a new spare ZAGG (I bought 2 ZAGG protectors.) and this time, I tried it out WITHOUT any of the solution and still no luck.
I phoned ZAGG customer service and they said that it could be a defective ZAGG product. I am still waiting for the replacement and decided to get another second opinion from another customer service. She mentioned that it could be becuase i put too much solution but I did try it out WITHOUT the solution. So now i wasted 2 ZAGG protectors and no luck. Anybody else here in HF has put on a screen protector on a Milestone having the same effect as mine?

I bought a new X6 from operator before Xmas. Just in 3+ weeks USB port metal shield in phone was ruptured from phone circuit board and metal holding came out with the cable. Board was not damaged as I could get USB working by keeping cable in manually in right position but as it was not secured it stopped working as soon as phone moved even slightly. Using Nokia Comes with Music/Ovi store during Xmas heavily I connected/disconnected usb 200+ times in this short time frame.
Nokia repair shop took the phone for repairs for over 5 weeks and surprised by a billed (40 Euros) statement that it can't be repaired satisfactorily. It's not within Nokia limited warranty terms and I should by a new phone! I can't complain as consumer as I bought phone for my company and can't use my private insurance to cover replacement. As I bought it via an operator I'm wondering whose Quality Assurance I should now complain. As a telecoms consultant I've advised several equipment manufacturers on quality assurance but this really puzzles me.

I take really good care of my phone and had the iPhone 3G for 2 years and didn't have any problems with scratches on the screen. Now with the iPhone 4 I have taken even better care of it and it is covered in scratches some seem minor but some seem deep and make it look weird when you look at it with the screen on. Once I noticed this it made me really mad because it is supposed to be a stronger screen.

Ever since I got my iPhone 4S in December, I've been bothered by what appears to be some sort of etching in the glass. I can't feel it, but it shows up if I "breathe" on the glass. It's fairly large, about 2.5" x 1", I guess. It looks like a camera lens with a fungus that's penetrated the seal inside the lens. I know it isn't a "big deal", but it also kind of annoys me. Does anyone else have a similar issue, or do I stand alone? Is it worth getting an Apple store to check it out and replace the glass if necessary?
