BB Torch 9800 :: Separate Corp E-mail From Personal?
Aug 12, 2010
Anyone know if the Torch addresses that old problem of corp e-mail and personal e-mail being grouped together? I've been using BES mailbox by Empower (i think) to get around this problem on my Bold.
I've got a new Blackberry Torch 9800 that was issued to me by my company. Needless to say it has my company email account on it and I've also just added my personal email account to it as well. In the 3 weeks since I first got the phone I've had only the corporate email account active and have thus become dependent on the New Message notifier icon at the top of the home screen.
When I see 1 or more new messages I no longer have any idea if it is a work email or a personal one. Any way to change the notifier icon for my personal email account so at a glance I can see how many items I have for either account. I know I could just turn off the notifier function for the personal account which would remove it from that notification area, but I'd really prefer not to do that, I just want some ability to tell the two apart at a glance.
I just bought a new Torch and am unable to set up personal email (internet). I have read the postings and have doen the follwoing but to no avail:
1. Re-installed the DM
2. Reset handset
3. Updated and downgraded the softwareon the handset
4. Changed SIM Cards
5. Security wipe of email and contacts.
Unit works fine but I cannot set up my email. I do not have an enterprise server at my work so I do not need to activate it but this is the only option I ever get when trying to set up emails.
When I first got my phone I accidentally set up my e-mail address as a .com not a.co.uk. When I add a new contact in my contact list, my .com email address is there and I can't remove it. I have synched the correct .co.uk address as I get my e-mails through. How do I delete the wrong e-mail address for synching contacts?
I have been using my phone for 18 months now and have a nice collection of Contacts on the phone. Have been using the Exchange ActiveSync for my work email but with the Sync Contacts option set to No. There are contacts on my Exchange address books that I would like to have on my Nokia N8 but I am concerned it will wipe out my existing personal contacts and/or sync my personal contacts already on the phone to my company Exchange server. If I switch On the Exchange ActiveSync - Sync Contacts option does it keep the Exchange contacts separate from my personal? Is this possible at all?
I just recently switched from a Bold 9000 (ATT, OS 5) to a Bold 9700 (ATT OS 5).On the Bold 9000, I had 2 separate icons for my email. One was "Desktop" (the email from the BES) and one was "Personal" (my gmail account). There was also an option in the email settings to determine which emails showed up in the "Messages" view as well and you could have personal, work or both show up there. Now I can't seem to find this option in the 9700.
I use my iphone5 for business and personal. I want to have 2 completely separate lists for business and personal contacts. I know I can use groups but I want 2 completely separate lists, 2 different buttons on the screen.
I have a Bold 9000. It's a business handset and we are on a BES. I have added my personal Yahoo email to it and I now have 2 mail icons - one for Messages and the other for Yahoo. When I get an email on my yahoo email address it also appears in my main messages email box as well. I want to keep the 2 sets of emails separate so that it is 100% clear what is business and what is personal (Yahoo).I know it must be possible to keep them in separate mailboxes but cannot for the life of me work out how.
I have my email going to my torch, and when a message comes in, a yellow envelope shows up. The problem is that the yellow envelope wont go away. I tried clicking the envelope, tried going into the mail folder, and I even deleted all the messages in the folder. Still there!
I powered off and on, nothing
took the battery out, nothing
took the cards out, nothing
any thoughts? my next try will be re-establishing my email accounts
I've got BuzzMe Pro.Had it on my Bold 9000.Not sure if it's part of my problem but I can't get the LED notifications to turn off after I read an e-mail.I open the mail and the little symbol for new mail goes away, but the LED keeps blinking.Sometimes, if I click on "mark prior opened", it goes away.Sometimes not.
For the past 4-5 days I have only been receiving some of the emails that are on Yahoo Mail when checked online. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Two emails from same sender - sometimes only one will be on BB inbox. There are not any filters set up on the BB.I have tried resetting to factory default and restoring to a backup from BB Desktop. I can send emails fine from the BB - sometimes the auto BCC works sometimes not. The Torch is about 11 months old and worked perfectly prior to this.
I like the new integrated mailboxes feature. However, will I be able to set up separate mail icons on the homescreen to jump to the specific e-mail account? For example, I can have a mail icon for my gmail, one for my mobileme, and one for my exchange account all separate on the home screen for a total of three (same mail icon but different subtext per which account it is, for example).Based on what I've seen and read so far I think the answer is no. What I'm anticipating is I will have to open the one mail icon with all my accounts listed, then have to choose which one I go to from there. Not a terribly huge deal, as it is better than the current setup, but separate icons would be a nice feature have.
Why does everything come through the mail icon and through the messages icon? It doesn't make sense. All I want when I click the envelope is e-mail. I found a post on here that sounded similar to my problem but I my phone doesn't have the same menu options. It is a 9330.
I have a very old Freeserve email address which I'm loath to part with! However, I'm obliged to send mail using my ISP (VirginMedia) and so have to set up separate account details for the SMTP server. My M8 seems quite incapable of doing this - it claims that I have the wrong username/password most of the time when verifying. Occasionally, it accepts the details, but then still can't send mail. If I revisit the settings without changing anything, it says they are invalid again.
By comparison, my Windows desktop works fine under the same conditions, and especially my Tesco HUDL! All this using my home WiFi/wired network.
Secondary question - if you are presented with a previously entered password (blobs), does the number of blobs match the password length? I notice that my SMTP password does appear to change its length after it's been accepted.
im just wondering how do i stop my spam messages showing in my e-mail folder??? i go to open up email and not only do i see my normal inbox mail but i see all the **** from my inbox and i recieve about 50 messages a day in my spam folder
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
I added a new gmail address to my phone, before that, I had my work e-mail, a different gmail address and my blackberry e-mail.All e-mails went directly into the main mailbox. They also went into the separate folders for each specific e-mail address. so if I wanted to only look at e-mails from email address #1, I just had to look in that folder.Well it still works for the first 3 e-mail address, but since I added the new gmail account, the e-mails on the new account only go to the main e-mail message folder. So if I go to the separate folder for the new gmail account it shows no e-mails at all.But if I go to the main inbox, any new e-mails to that account are shown there.Does anyone know how to fix this?I have deleted and re-added this account at least 3 times, I have done everything I know and I still cannot get the e-mails to show up in the separate account folder!
I have a new Bold 9780 which is on my company's corporate network via BES, and all is working well with this side of things, with full integration with my Outlook desktop, so no issue here.I have also set up my BlackBerry with my personal e-mail account. I receive all e-mails sent to my personal e-mail account, but I cannot reply, or send new e-mail. I get a reply option to e-mails received in the menu, but after I have composed the reply, it just gives me 3 options - "switch application", "save draft" and "full menu". It gives me the same three options if I compose a new e-mail and want to send it.I have contacted my carrier, my e-mail account provider, and they all say it is a BlackBerry issue.
I know I have been on this a lot lately, mostly because I was switching Blackberry's.I'm still on my 8320 but for some reason I can't set up my personal yahoo e-mail like it was on my old 8320.I'm kinda bad with directions lol, so if someone could help me and possibly break it down for me, it would be appreciated.
using a personal set up on my blackberry 8310, I set up an e-mail account. I have tried with no success to delete the account from the phone. I have tried some of the answers to other questions on here and they have not worked. I have already deleted the service book, restarted the phone and still no luck.
I have been using Telstra.Corp apn on my iPad2 for almost a year and it works just fine, I can use RDP or VNC to connect to my servers at work from anywhere, IP scan the entire LAN and still connect to the internet. I removed the SIM from the iPAD2 and inserted same SIM into my iPhone 4s and setup Telstra.Corp apn, I can use the Personal Hotspot to tether internet and enable my iPad to still connect to my LAN devices (servers) and still access the internet. The problem is the iPhone itself only allows internet on the iphone device but does not allow access to network resources (RDP or VNC servers), tethering to iPAD is no problem but on its own hardware it doesn't work.
i have seen a lot of demo's and topics about e-mail setup, but i just can not setup my e-mail because in my settings it only shows the option to setup an e-mail through the enterprise code.how is it possible that my option to add an e-mail account is lost?does anyone know how i can get that option? or to set up my e-mail otherwise.
