If my curve 8900 is any indication, the dedicated buttons at the top wear out and start getting unresponsive pretty quick. I'm afraid if the lock button on the Storm2 wears out, I won't be able to unlock it (with the curve I could use the keyboard * + green call button to unlock).Is there an application or similar that allows me to unlock the screen by an alternative method?
View 8 RepliesI'm running .428 and my storm and I know there are lots of threads on the button issue. Mine all stopped working Friday after a dip in the ocean. Next day the bottom 4 started working again but the power/lock still does not work. It clicks but nothing else. And the keyboard is so soft. Oh and about 5 auto shut offs. I have to battery pull just to start it again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI use the alarm clock function on my BB 9550 and have been noticing the alarm does not ring if the screen is locked (i.e., using the power button function on the top of the device). Specifically, there is still an alarm notification on the screen (to dismiss or snooze), but there is no sound. That's a problem. Seems to work fine if the screen is unlocked.
This just became a problem with the upgrade to O/S version 5.0.0.607. Before that I noticed that the alarm would only be a low hum if the screen was locked, but now there is nothing at all!
i think its a hardware problem. i have to squeeze the button hard to get it to work. and even still, sometimes it wont work at all. is there a fix i can do for this? i don't want to return it. everything else is fine. I'm afraid to take the top cover off without good directions. can anyone help?

and, after updating my firmware to the latest version, my camera hotkey is very buggy. Sometimes it doesn't work and I have to restart in order to get it to work. Anyone has a similar problem?
also, I had a glitch in composing a message one day, and the application just hanged. So, I restarted the phone and found that all my messages went missing. Any way to recover all my lost smses? and no, it's not in the phone memory, I stored them all in the memory card. All the other things(contact, settings, ringtones, music, videos, pictures) in the memory card are all intact.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI know a thousand and one people have complained about this, and I've been scouring the internet for an hour and a half reading stories.My Blackberry Storm2 (bought yesterday) has that issue with the buttons (green call button and red end call button, at the bottom) where they just don't click properly. Sometimes it does, most of the time it's either a bunch of little clicks when pressed or it doesn't recognize at all until you press it twice or more.
Aside from that, the phone appears to work just fine, and the bottom button issue is just irritating for now.I just want to know, is it worth it to go return it for this problem? Is it going to get worse with time? I don't want to go exchange for another phone that's going to be worse off or just has the same problem, which has happened to so many people.
Does anyone have this issue with their Blackberry and have kept it with the problem and it's hanging in there just fine? Is this phone even going to MAKE IT for 1-2 years?! Anyone have positive durability stories?
I have a Storm2, only a month old. The end button hardly works and i am getting double clicking. After reading on the forum i thought maybe it was the theme i downloaded on Friday. All these issues started right after that so i uninstalled it.

I've got the problem with the camera button as it doesn't open the camera and other app as well. When Im in photo mode the button make a focus but if I press it for a while it turn the phone off or if I push it for 2sec it work's like a lock screen button.

My BB Pearl 8100 is dying a slow death. The trackball is starting to lock up every few days. I'm seriously considering moving over to a Storm2. Now, I have a couple of challenges and hoping I can get some guidance.
I have AT&T as my carrier (the device is mine) as part of my corporate phone plan; (my choices are AT&T and Sprint). What I'd like to do is get my hands on a Storm2, unlock it and then move that over to my AT&T plan.
When unlocking the phone will I lose any of the features? Also, is there anything I should know do regarding device activation? Would I just use the same SIM card?
The default BB password is too difficult to type all the time.... PatternLock password was too obvious and the background wouldnt update (berryweather background) Storm slider was great just WAY TOO BUGGY! Any other options out there?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just finally joined the bb scene on Dec 26, with my new Storm 2 9550.I thought this was maybe due to the technological advancement of the device, as all new things usually have bugs.Sometimes while I am texting, or if I have just sent a text, set it down, then received one, my storm will freeze.The screen basically lock, not allowing me to click it. When I try to click the unlock key, nothing happens, and nothing will work until I hold the unlock/power key to turn it off. Sometimes it is stubborn enough where it won't work until I take the battery out and put it back in.It's done this a few times, which probably isn't good since I've only had the phone for 10 days. Do you guys think there is probably something mechanically wrong, and I should go exchange the phone? Or is it probably just a bug with some software and I should just ride it out?
Edit: Also, my other concern about exchanging it is the fact that I don't think I'll be able to show the Verizon Rep what is happening, as it is a random occurrence.Is the exchange policy a no questions asked policy?
I just got my storm 2. Love it so far. Just a question about the screen. It feels very responsive and typing is a breeze, But it seems like i have to press a lot harder to get the send button to click. Anyone else experiencing this, or am i just being picky?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got the storm 2 like 2 weeks ago and I loved it only problems were the back button wouldn't work like 40% of the time and my send button rarely worked. Well after reading that they were replacing them free I went to a verizon store today and of course when I took it in all the buttons worked. Well the guy still offered to exchange it for me. the whole thing took less than a half hour and he gave me a new battery just for the **** of it and the replacement is soo much better! All the buttons work and overall typing is soo much better on it now. I didn't think it would go that smoothly but so far I have had verizon almost 2 years and I have had great service with them since the start. Now I looked at the box and there was no green dot on it or anything and I haven't looked at the date under the battery yet cuz I have been using the phone alot and right now im listening to music but all the buttons work great and the back button dosent click like its on crack everytime I click it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI had my first storm replaced because the screen stopped clicking, and now I am having never ending problems with the screen lock. Ill be in the middle of the call and the screen will be locked but then suddenly it will unlock and ill hit a button and end the call, or flash, or mute. I have prematurely ended hundreds of calls now.
I got a new one, and it is having similar issues. I know that the face recognition works off of heat, so i don't know how the Texas weather is affecting it, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. I have been counting and I am up to 2 out of every 3 calls either get muted, flashed, or ended unintentionally.
I tried using storm lock, but it does not lock the end key of course, so i can still end the call, which I do often. Has any one had any problems with theirs? Any ideas how to fix?
I have a firm-issued BlackBerry that frequently locks itself after long periods of inactivity. I also choose to manually lock the phone from time to time. When coming out of lock mode and needing to enter my password, when in portrait mode, I sometimes get the MultiTap keypad and sometimes get the the full keypad. There doesn't appear to be any consistency in which one the BlackBerry will choose to offer me.
If I have a choice, I would prefer to use the SureType keyboard or even the full keyboard every time if possible. Can anyone lend any insight as to how to set this default keyboard when coming out of lock mode?
Any obscure setting that I may have tripped that would kill these two at the same time all of the sudden? I'm at a loss other than the fact the sucker got wet about 10 days ago. I did the proper wet phone recovery procedure and even had it apart same day to make sure it wasn't moist in there. Worked fine till about an hour ago.

1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
