I just got my storm 2. Love it so far. Just a question about the screen. It feels very responsive and typing is a breeze, But it seems like i have to press a lot harder to get the send button to click. Anyone else experiencing this, or am i just being picky?
View 8 RepliesI know a thousand and one people have complained about this, and I've been scouring the internet for an hour and a half reading stories.My Blackberry Storm2 (bought yesterday) has that issue with the buttons (green call button and red end call button, at the bottom) where they just don't click properly. Sometimes it does, most of the time it's either a bunch of little clicks when pressed or it doesn't recognize at all until you press it twice or more.
Aside from that, the phone appears to work just fine, and the bottom button issue is just irritating for now.I just want to know, is it worth it to go return it for this problem? Is it going to get worse with time? I don't want to go exchange for another phone that's going to be worse off or just has the same problem, which has happened to so many people.
Does anyone have this issue with their Blackberry and have kept it with the problem and it's hanging in there just fine? Is this phone even going to MAKE IT for 1-2 years?! Anyone have positive durability stories?
I just got a replacement Storm 2 dated Mar 6, 2010. My old Storm worked pretty well but sometimes the bottom row buttons would stick, especially when using the Seidio extended battery with the plastic battery cover. I have a week or so to try both out before sending back the old one.
The new screen feels more... buttery. Its smooth. Buttery smooth. The old screen is clickier. The bottom row buttons on the new screen are a little sloppy compared to when you press the middle of the screen. Does anyone else notice this? I don't like that.But so far the new screen hasn't locked up on the bottom row as much, especially when trying to use it while the Storm is lying on a table.
For typing, the old screen seems just a bit faster, maybe just a bit less pressure required. New screen is a bit harder to type on but smoother.The old screen has a warmer white color than the old, but that is OK the old was fairly "blue".I don't know for sure yet which I like better! But will update here as I find more. If new screen prevents "hard button" syndrome than that's probably enough.
lately my storm has been making a unusual metallic clicking sound instead of the smooth clicking sound. It happens intermittently when texting. The screen also feels slightly loose when this happens. anybody know whats wrong??

Problem is the silver molding was all rough as if someone forgot to replace the molding. So I called it in. My 2nd replacement is brand new. The screen is very similiar in touch except I have to push down a little harder. My question is, does anyone know how to make it click easier? Also the screen is not as, "white," as the replacement and original. Thanks for any help...

I downloaded a theme that has touch icons on the homescreen that opens up your programs without having to click in the screen. I'm thinking if this is possible from the homescreen then it would be possible throughout the entire OS, right? I would pay big bucks for that!

Noticed that anything using the wireless data was going really slow and then it just stopped any transmission. Took it off the wifi to see if there was any difference, same thing... and then a popup appeared that said DNS and a button ok... the screen locked up so I couldn't click anywhere on the screen, so I did a battery pull.
Now after the battery pull it gets to the blackberry loading screen. It loads to approx. 20%, then theres a white screen with text in a very small font and a button reset in the middle. This appears in less then a second, and the screen is locked so i can't press reset. It now does this a continuous cycle.
Every third call or so I get a bad click click click the whole time. S2 issue or vzw issue.On .428
View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically i am getting the 'double click' thing on my storm2 once a day atleast. I upgraded the OS recently but its still doing it. Sometimes if i hit the screen hard it will start working which suspects me to beleive theres dirt under or around the screen itself?But if i remove the battery the screen then starts to work, which leads me to beleive its the software.
What is it? is it common? how can i fix it its driving me insane.
I am getting multiple clicks with the END SEND buttons with the .428 OS.Is the buttons at the bottom SOFTWARE or HARDWARE related? Should I return the phone to Verizon? I really need a confirmation on the above since I am in the 30 days warranty.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI noticed recently that my end key will click 5 times when i press it down, its the only part of the screen that does it, but i do notice that the bottom buttons will double click everynow and then and it pisses me off. but the end key does it 5 times. Anyone have a clue what it could be? i was happy with the phone at first but now im kind of mad that i got it, the one thing i like about the phone is he clicking screen, it makes it to where i dont press as many as i do with other touch screens.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just finally joined the bb scene on Dec 26, with my new Storm 2 9550.I thought this was maybe due to the technological advancement of the device, as all new things usually have bugs.Sometimes while I am texting, or if I have just sent a text, set it down, then received one, my storm will freeze.The screen basically lock, not allowing me to click it. When I try to click the unlock key, nothing happens, and nothing will work until I hold the unlock/power key to turn it off. Sometimes it is stubborn enough where it won't work until I take the battery out and put it back in.It's done this a few times, which probably isn't good since I've only had the phone for 10 days. Do you guys think there is probably something mechanically wrong, and I should go exchange the phone? Or is it probably just a bug with some software and I should just ride it out?
Edit: Also, my other concern about exchanging it is the fact that I don't think I'll be able to show the Verizon Rep what is happening, as it is a random occurrence.Is the exchange policy a no questions asked policy?
has anyone noticed while running .451 that after getting a text message or something, I hit the screen to wake it up and sometimes the click isnt there? I have ot tap the screen 3 or 4 times before I get the "click" to wake it up?
View 7 Replies View Relatedbattery life for the Storm 2 , in my opinion is OK running .320 and not to sound arrogant or jerky, cause Im a humble guy, but battery life on my Tank's Hybrid ACT 2 (.497) 95X0 hass been really great.
is battery life between the Storm 1 (newest build) and Storm 2 really that much different? Think about it.Well, I dont think that much.I think the same if not better especially with ACT 2.This certainly isnt an advertisement for my Hybrid so I apologize in advace -- please read on.
What we dont think about is this.The Storm 1 's click needed no energy, just the enrgy from our fingers , right? Well the Storm 2's click was revamped using piezo technology (genius!) to give us this hassle free click which is 10 times better to say the least. What WE dont think about is that this NEW technology in the Storm 2 is electronic and requires a Power source which is the battery. of course point being is that:
1.) we dont realize how many times we click the screen a day and
2.) how much battery energy is actually used to power the screen click.
The Storm 2 is ALMOST the same phone -- its the same CPU.we do have more built in memory and a newer screen (way better color saturation, the Storm 1 was a very cold color scheme, very blueish tint)So in turn, we must recognize the fact that we have the same if not better battery life with the same battery and MORE energy being used to power the phone (screen clicks)
Now I believe this supports my claim.I BELIEVE the "CLICK" is partly controlled by the OS's power scheme.I believe the OS talks to the battery and the phone to manage the power used to "click" this is why we ALL see an inconsistent screen click softer but yet more responsive or "smart" after a fresh charge and the later in the day, maybe a more lazy click still a "satisfactory" click, but yet and not to be ignored, a different click.Of course I will agree that different builds and/or .cods will control the click, but I believe it only controls the "default" click set forth buy that build number.ie. .320 vs .428 or .428 vs .464 or .464 vs .497
Just my 2 cents to throw in so when we all, including myself, complain about a slightly different screen click throughout the day and battery life that isnt where we want it to be.I always keep in mind "Hey RIM, not to shabby of a job keeping battery life similar to the Storm 1 considering we run more apps (due to more memory) and ALL of the thousands of screen clicks we make everyday"

For weeks I haven't had a single option, and all of a sudden multiple times in 2 days I have this issue:While my phone is in my pocket, I pull it out, and unlock the screen. The screen is hard, but not unclickable. So when I click on messages or anything else it opens it and closes it, because it double clicks. Usually the bottom keys click but don't function. I have to lock the screen and turn it back on after a few seconds or a minute later for it to function. The double clicking and it closes the app is really annoying. It only happens when it's in my pants.
I think what happens is that since the screen is TOWARDS my leg, and my leg may hit the bottom buttons, it presses it or something like that. And after a few times of that happening unexpectedly the screen does something. I don't know. Any ideas? Could this be an OS issue? I doubt it's a hardware since it ONLY happens with my jeans and in my pocket.
i think its a hardware problem. i have to squeeze the button hard to get it to work. and even still, sometimes it wont work at all. is there a fix i can do for this? i don't want to return it. everything else is fine. I'm afraid to take the top cover off without good directions. can anyone help?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running .428 and my storm and I know there are lots of threads on the button issue. Mine all stopped working Friday after a dip in the ocean. Next day the bottom 4 started working again but the power/lock still does not work. It clicks but nothing else. And the keyboard is so soft. Oh and about 5 auto shut offs. I have to battery pull just to start it again.

It does not give me the option to send a MMS!!! Why does this happen? Even when I am in America and I insert a Verizon SIM, it still does not give me the option to send a MMS!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got the storm 2 like 2 weeks ago and I loved it only problems were the back button wouldn't work like 40% of the time and my send button rarely worked. Well after reading that they were replacing them free I went to a verizon store today and of course when I took it in all the buttons worked. Well the guy still offered to exchange it for me. the whole thing took less than a half hour and he gave me a new battery just for the **** of it and the replacement is soo much better! All the buttons work and overall typing is soo much better on it now. I didn't think it would go that smoothly but so far I have had verizon almost 2 years and I have had great service with them since the start. Now I looked at the box and there was no green dot on it or anything and I haven't looked at the date under the battery yet cuz I have been using the phone alot and right now im listening to music but all the buttons work great and the back button dosent click like its on crack everytime I click it.

I'm afraid if the lock button on the Storm2 wears out, I won't be able to unlock it (with the curve I could use the keyboard * + green call button to unlock).Is there an application or similar that allows me to unlock the screen by an alternative method?
